Interesting that the reel engineer mentioned the bail arm roller bearings, my little Stradic's have all been replaced as they got noisy real quick, once replaced they're great. I'm abso loving my little 1000 Vanford, teamed up with an Atomic Arrowz Skinny Water 6' rod, what a combination, such great fun chasing those high thirties bream!

I was that close to choosing the Vanford in the 1000! Great choice mate and keep slaying those XO size Bream 🤙

If your chasing pelagics always go high end because you will burn out reels fast!...if your chasing flatties and bream on bait you can get a decent reel for less than $100 but if your using lures you want something tougher that can take all the extra winding, casting, resistance etc... reel choice will depend on how often you fish and how good you are ie how many fish you catch per session that effect the reel over time.....been lure fishing for almost 30 years and for me stradics are the perfect balance of quality vs price..always been a shimano guy but there are so many good reels now we are spoilt for sure!...as with any reel always clean and maintain them for the best experience and longevity....of course if your rich just get the best!

Fishing can be cheap or expensive. However its important to know that fish do not know the difference. For some people like me, fishing is a hobby but also fishing gear itself can be a hobby. If your a serious angler, you should take into considerarion that more expensive reels last longer if cared for.

Having used stadics and gosa’s…choice is 4 stadics or two certates. Spend that little more. Certate all day. LT and SW…Mag sealed body patented and roller bearing.
    Gosa is a workhorse.

@@CoastfishTV agree mate but Japan has got me certates at stratics prices in the past ;-)

Ive repaired both my daiwa luvias and shimano stradic. The daiwa system uses gearing to drive the spool oscillation, the shimano uses a worm drive to raise and lower. This has failed me in the past with the dog tooth getting jammed on the upstroke. This is a rare failure i admit however it isnt the superior system. As for the line rollers in a stradic, they are crap.
    They are both great reels.
If you ever want to know which is superior, download the reel schematics and look for bearing locations. At a minimum they should have a bearing on either side of the main gear, pinion gear, spool oscillator and spool support bearings.
I retrofit bearings into reel 4 luvias reels, they have bushes that are just removed and replaced with stainless bearings, bringing them up to certate or exist standard, albeit a little less tech.
    Just my 2c

Would love to hear your thoughts on the latest Saragosa and Stradic reels. According to the experts, they have adopted 'some' internal technology from their higher end models. The Stradics main rival, in equivalent models, just didn't match up quality wise, which heavily influenced my decision. Thanks for your input mate🤙

@CoastfishTV in my opinion, the stradic is the best value/quality ratio available. They just dont feel like a daiwa.
The technology isn't in the change of oscillation mechanism. it's in the composition of parts (lighter, stronger) and design (balance, weight, etc).
      It's still a great reel.
How far can they go with the Stella is the question. That then dictates the ceiling for the stradic. The stradic needs to be behind Stella, and they can swap in and out improvements to keep it always that 600 dollars behind.
I find the drag washers are a little small, for finesse drag i like a large single washer, that way 1 crank of the drag knob is over 1 washer, i have some fine tuning, 3 washers and its compounded.
Also the larger the diameter the greater it can create torque, which in turn allows for finer tuning of the spool tension.
Ill never be an ant angler of the year but that doesn't stop me having an opinion!!

I like the Penn Slammer and Aouthourity range but do have a couple of Shimano spin reels as yes not fully tested. Interesting how Shimano was having issues and could not compete with Penn.

The boys at Addict tackle are champions! Made sure to visit last time I made my way up north.
For myself and my style of fishing, I’ve opted to go with Mid-high range finesse Daiwa gear. It’s helped me get that extra little bit of distance in casting and also very smooth winding and drag systems. Definitely a lot of great gear on the market this day and age.
Great video with a lot of great information that could help a lot of people looking to buy some new gear 👏

Pick up a Shimano vanquish and you wouldn't pick up another Reel.
Lots and Lots of problems with Daiwa that's why Addict tackle doesn't work with Daiwa anymore.
gosen 16 ply braid is the best braid currently on the market.
The only reel in the stradic range I would touch is the Shimano Cardiff. They are the top of the class when it comes to stradic range of reels.

Most I have ever spent on a reel was $79 for a Penn on special. I never use it, my reels cost around $30 and they have always served me well. I'm not spending anymore than that for a hobby.
Not judging anyone that spends more if they are a massive angler, it's just not for me. I have caught some big fish on cheap reels.

    • @CoastfishTV
      @CoastfishTV  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

I won't knock the cheap stuff Mr Cods! I fish very often so my fish demand reliability, and that can come at a cost. In my case anyway :)
