I think the coyote is overrated as a swap in a panther. A coyote in a 3200lb 68 mustang would be fast but in a 4200lb panther much less so. Something rarely discussed is how much power can a panther handle before it becomes uncontrollable. From my research around 500rwhp with widened rear rims. Easily attainable with any 4.6 and boost.
I mentioned this before, but I may have to explain what you are saying to the masses....Vic guys thing the Coyote is end all be all... You still have to tweak it ( cams and oil pump ) if going used engine route...4000l lb car need 400hp and tq to match to really play you need 500 to 600hp..... there will be more Coyote swap vic out there than 4.6 dohc for sure... thats a problem i feel.... i have to make video and give you credit
I don't many have tried to put 1000 hp to a CV there's much more suspension options out there then it was CV money into CV Cledus put a GT500 in one but he's not a true CV fan it was jus for views so I think CV platforms can take whatever you throw at it It's about how you set it up bud

OG, just got a chance to what the video great topic, been researching this swap for years trying to figure out the cheapest way. I came to conclusion that if you take coyote from f150, willing to change out oil gears (for rpm) and swap intake cams with stock mustang and intake, you can be in it $2500, key is take whole f150 harnes and computer/ pats system, then wire it into vic. No, it's not over rated. Anything is worth what you want to pay for. You can find early 2011 F150s or Mustangs with complete harnesses, engines, and transmissions for a couple grand. That said, the 2v can make good power with the same money. My dream build is TrickFlow heads with 262 comp cams, 5.0 stroker kit, M112 supercharger, and a T56 manual transmission. All of that will cost around 6k with me doing all the work. To simply refurbish the Coyote will cost about the same. It will cost much more with performance mods. No doubt, a built Coyote will make significantly more power, upwards of 2,500hp relatively easily when compared to the 4.6.
agreed can noit debate what you said, but lets say if you had 3-4k Max coyote build or even a solid 4.6 build is out your reach... many guys jusy do have the funds to dump into engine 9 some say ) get out of the car building game... ooooh you can build a GOOD motor for 5k ... If you plan it out right make some used GOOD parts to lower the cost some... Need that 1k for tuning for sure depending what you are building
at the end of the day budget and planned out put is what decides to go coyote because what is really good about a coyote is cylinder head flow and variable timing. aftermarket cams alone for a coyote are almost $2000 dollars and that is just 4 cams no springs no labor no nothing. When making power with a 2V and considering a coyote swap you always have to consider boost because cams cost $750 plus springs etc.. when just adding boost can get you to the limit of the stock internals without buying a cam. pop the heads off port them your self for FREE and re gap the rings for boost and put it back together all you are out is head bolts and gaskets. then buy fuel pump injectors cold air and exhaust. In reality 4 thousand dollars is all you really need to make about 500 hp reliably with stock internals and a good tune. the weak point is the ring gap not the pistons or the rods. people making 750 hp with boss rods ? that is the same pos powdered rod that is stock in your 4.6L to begin with just a different part number. the reason people make 750 hp with a boss rod is because it is a rebuilt engine made for boost and they GAPPED the rings for boost when they assembled it and some even added a forged piston. Richard holdner made 750 plus hp on dyno with a stock 4V bottom end which has same type of piston and rod as 2V minus the piston is different CC 4 cc versus NPI 10 cc or PI 17 cc im guessing off top of my head but all the pistons are made from same alloy and that is hyperutectic.
to be clear the 4V that richard used on the dyno had the rings gapped for boost. people tossing turbos on LS 5.3 junk yard motors making 750 hp stock also just re gap the stock rings and those engines also have same type of pistons and powdered "cracked" rods which weaker then H beam rods are vastly superior to the old style stock rods
Without watching the video, NO it is not over rated. Anyone who can afford to do that build is a panther car legend. But you're really smarter and better off buying a 2 door f150 with a coyote and build that instead. If you're complaining about money when you're talking about doing an engine swap, then you have no business doing an engine swap. Build what you have.
The 4.6 2V and 4v (marauder specifically) really dont make good power even with boost unless you build them bottom up. That Lincoln motor could be something, but I always felt better taking em out of wrecked cars, then I knew they were running, and landed in the junkyard from the wreck, not blown up... At least a mini bike shouldn't break the bank! Right?
I agree I do the same with the f150s I have.

The car was hit, but you still can not trust peopl drive those thing unil it goes, but you are correct though ... The 3 motors ( 4.6 dohc from Aviators ) all had the chain issue and dropped lifters also...So I do understand the suv had no denta or hits
Hey, great info but what about a v10 swap in a Panther platform, have you ever done one of these?
What's the highest year crown Victoria engine year with a p.i head can I drop in a 95 grand marquis bolt on only from junkyard
A built 2v is the best way a 4v is next the coyote is last 15 to 25k to do it right
thats 100% jonnath ... To play and do it properly is 21k-25 thats doesnt sit with me well at all bro...
this reminds me of my desire to convert my electric golf cart into a gas engine... but the cost of doing so is so high that it's better to find an existing gas cart
Yeah I'm at the point where I'm almost more willing to build an LS instead of a coyote swap because parts are cheaper, easier to tune and more junkyard parts you can piece together to get serious power
I can not even fault toyu on that... its the way to go for power ( budget friendly ) a great starting point. you go i the yards there is nothing but Ls type engines... My yard I go to has NONE ... I never seen a complete engine in 4 years ( Ls )
I think the Coyote is Overpriced/cost, but way underrated.
Cost is High cause its new and it really works... They have a bracket type class of racing ( with stock Coyotes ) with the same tune.... Only engine that can get modded is the 1st Gen with 2nd Gen heads ( no cams ) oem down ( no port work either ) so they are strong out there for sure Mat
My friend has a 392 and I have a 2010 Vic and to be honest I just want to be able to compete with him so that's really why I was interested in the coyote swap. I have a 6.2L on hand what do you think about swapping that into the Vic
Honestly find a totaled f150 or mustang and you could find the engine for cheap
I don't many have tried to put 1000 hp to a CV there's much more suspension options out there then it was CV money into CV
Cledus put a GT500 in one but he's not a true CV fan it was jus for views so I think CV platforms can take whatever you throw at it
It's about how you set it up bud
The mustangs have gained a lot of weight over the years
You can easily take 400 to 500 lbs out of a CV if you tried
@@jonnathwill8318 yes agreed, definitely about the setup. I’m just not willing to modify the frame, add wheel tubs and eliminate back seats.
@@bstfordchannel923 yes you know what I’m sayin, adequate traction is the stumbling block with these cars. Didn’t you make a vid a while back talking about swapping an eco-boost in a panther or am I dreaming? Gen 2 and up v6 got around 500ftlbs of torque. That would horrify the coyote and Ls fan boys.
If skilled at best with own labor $3000-3500
But for $3500 I can build a monster dart block $351w and boost it out this world 🌎
Those focus svt and ztec are fun as hell, also mazdaspeed3 (ford) love those
You said mouthful here brother... You are correct on every single word!....Ecoboost is nothing but Mazda tech and alll what you mentioned are great car engine for sure...There is cheat code for coyote for sure... if i had 2 grand i could buy a 300 mile Coyote and get the harness also... Funds aint there to play... I would double down on the cost.... ou do have to change those gears i would keep the cams until the money is right
@@bstfordchannel923 you can leave it stock f150 coyote cams and oil gear, will get you 360 hp 380 lbs torque I think max rpm 6500. The intake cams and oil gear allows for the 425 hp 415 lbs torque. Either way in a p71 it be nice. Just like you cost is a little steep for me, I like it for a family build (to ride kids around hotrod) p71 or 03 04 towncar swap
@@thacutoff6226 I think it was a 2014 f150 so it would great but US family dudes just can not swing it... In big bro lets see, but for now lets 4.6 dohc
Coyotes, the more expensive ls swap! xD
Hands down the Ls swap is cheaper... The Coyote engine is not old enough yet in time it will maybe another10 years of 7
...that won't fit into spaces an LS will.
Coyotes the truck version or the mustang version are 4k to 7k now the lowest price ones will be gen 1 gen2 will go for 5k and up with higher miles on them
thats is about right brother they cost but many dudes ( with coin ) want thats crate engine. I think it can be done for way less the control pack is the issue
I respect everything you put out on this channel sir thanks 💪🏾😇
I have spent like a little more than 10,000 on my Gen 2 coyote swap and im not done yet.. After being so used to buy cars that are worth 2000 dollars or less i.e.( my 99 Expedition and 98 Mustang GT). Here is my question... is the experience of driving a coyote powered car 6x the enjoyment you get of driving a 300hp car? Probably not. another thing you have to take in consideration.. i went to the dealership to buy the 2015-2017 6r80 wiring harness and they told me is already obsolete. In another note i do have a 4.6 DOHC i got off a 2005 aviator for $260 dollars @ pull-a-part & a 2004 cobra supercharger i got from offerup for $600 bucks.
ooooooh I see where you going with this... Thats CRAZY 10k and its still aint done... They have the automatic ecu engine harness to run the 6r80... Yeah this is a funny game when you swap new school... I really tempted to build the bottom of my 4.6 dohc keep the heads stock buy new performance valve springs... Starting see the light Luis ... People love to rev the engine, the sound it makes, how the engine pulls, having a more updated engine .and to say its a Coyote ( we must add that )
@@bstfordchannel923 almost there ...still need the driveshaft, transmission wiring harness, exhaust and cross member, then after it starts and drives i will need to upgrade the rear end and brakes.
The Modular family of engines are not budget build friendly for power have not seen a 400hp Na 4.6 ( real proof ) not hear say... And I think thatw where many guys are saying.. anything is possible with money and the willingness to make it happen
Dude... That center shift from the Contour is fuckin brilliant!!! Wow.....
BST FORD....I have a 99 crown victoria lx it have no blown fuse or relay fuse the EATC and my turn signal stop working. If I turn on my headlights the EATC glows but no display my b hazards lights work.. any ideas
Did you try another Multifunction switch? start there and if that does the same then you look at wiring or fuses ect...
i will stick with my 4.6L engines, they gave me no major issues
stick with the 2v cause that enegine will always be there for ya... Like how you took that trip to your dads home ( you made it ) 4.6 2v powwer
@@bstfordchannel923 I did it twice in that car, it even topped out at 122 mph with the 2010 p7b ECU swap, now I gotta get that throttle body spacer for it
Hey bro, 04 Grand Marq are you close to Philly?
And Bro! That White F-450 you looked at has the 7.3 Power Stroke and if that motor turns over it's worth $5000 as a builder motor! Open the fuel bowl drain valve first, don't want nasty fuel getting in the injectors! Pull the valve covers and pull the glow plugs out and give her a good cranking... the 7.3 is a hard to find motor worth Bucks :)
That motor s $300 bucks al day over here...Great info if it was hole i would have gotten it!....
That Toyota Supra was the highlight of this video.
Great content!
If get a deal on the car make it decent for 3to5 k brakes suspension and wheels n tires exhauet then 12to15k for engine and 6r80 wouldnt be bad 200 more horse 2 more gears in the trans but then u havw 20to25 k total n the car youl be lucky to get 15 to 18 k out of when done

Worth it? Thinking of doing the same.
@@checkc131 absolutely, most fun for the money mostly because I don’t feel bad just beating the hell out of it and blowing it sideways everywhere, I plan on boosting it next winter🤘
Buimd the 4r70w decent re gear the 8.8 and boost a 4.6 or 5.4 and make 400 wheel
Imagine the 4.6 you could build for $5000……. Heck, my build is about $3k but I’m poor. Lol
ooooh you can build a GOOD motor for 5k ...

Nothing better than getting lost in a junk yard with a couple beers and a smoke
I will be the odd man out and say I like my small block Ford Platform out of all these. It's the easiest to work on.
Vid from inside a crown vic. Mine to loud for that. Revirb.
I know where to get a coyote engine in Memphis for 1500
Without watching the video, NO it is not over rated. Anyone who can afford to do that build is a panther car legend. But you're really smarter and better off buying a 2 door f150 with a coyote and build that instead.
If you're complaining about money when you're talking about doing an engine swap, then you have no business doing an engine swap. Build what you have.
they are damn sure overpriced
Just LS swap
Its definitely not
Go bigger fuel pump on your 4 valve swapped Vic needs more pressure at the regulator then you wouldn’t run out in the top end
