  • I set a 22.238 second lap time and so here is a video describing how i drive the track.
    The lap was somewhat sloppy but i made it through with a quick line.
    i want to be the first to set a 21 second lap!

    Steven,
    Just wanted to let you know. I went to K1 tonight for the first time since watching your video. I've been in the mid to high 22s for a couple of months now only making small improvements with my best time being 22.543 about a month ago. I pulled off a 22.347 tonight. Huge improvement. Thanks for the great video. I'll keep working on it.

    Steven,
    Thanks for posting this. I'm the guy that asked. I learned a couple of tricks just from watching your lines that night but now for example, I have to work on my entry into the first hairpin because I'm carrying a lot more speed (thanks to your trick of setting up in the corner before the start). I have a lot to work on but took notes. I'll post up here later if I manage to improve my current best time.
    By the way, thanks for adding the explanation. I didn't expect that but I'll sure benefit from it. Hope to see you at the track sometime.
    Tom

      HarrisSmythe gald i could help. its fun to try and get faster. its definitely a challenge. the first hairpin will really hurt your time if you cant make it through. all i can really say is just run as many laps as possible and try to drive through as fast as possible without sliding. i would take a bunch of races and forget avout your time and focus specifically on getting through that turn cleanly. that way you can relax more, focus on one thing at a time, and figure that first hairpin out. feel free to ask more questions if you have more in the future.

    Edit: the current track record is much faster because the Karts have improved and i would imagine so too has the driving. Either way, the fundamentals examined here still apply.

      absolutely. when those start binding or hopping around they will trash you around pretty good. i love all styles of karting. electric indoor is where it started for me. this video is somewhat outdated as i believe the track record now is around 21.7 or 21.8. if you get to a 22.2 however, there really isnt much anyone can tell you after that. at that point youll have plenty of experience to shave the last few 10ths as you dial it in.

    Steven,
    I wanted to thank you one more time for posting this video and putting a lot of time into laying out all of the different things you try to do during a lap. I've been working on them a little at a time. It's a lot to take in in one shot. My 22.347 from a month ago stood as my best run until this weekend when I ran a 22.291 and then a 22.185. I feel like there are still areas where I can improve, mostly just getting more consistent in hitting my marks, but it really helped to have a roadmap to follow. I've told a couple of other guys about how helpful this was for me. Judging by the views a bunch of people have been watching.
    Thanks,
    Tom

    @LONEWOLF_1-B3 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is a good guide. How did you get these OTL karts to hop less in hairpins? This issue has prevented me from running faster times in other track layouts that also use these same electric karts.

    • @lowclassmediavideos
      @lowclassmediavideos  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      honestly you just got to drive it as fast as it will go without hopping. thats all i really know to say. its cold indoors so you have to just be real delicate but still fast enough to get it through there quickly.

    • @LONEWOLF_1-B3
      @LONEWOLF_1-B3 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So finding that balance is key then. These karts would be a lot more fun to drive without this issue. I will have to adjust the next time I drive these electric karts versus handling them like the Sodi karts I drive in my videos at my local track.

  • @wyatt8378

    Lean your head into the corners and it helps with skipping for me. or if you can put something heavy in the kart and it will help

    • @lowclassmediavideos
      @lowclassmediavideos  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wyatt Smith you would think that but the skipping comes from too much grip being created too quickly. Best thing to do is actually lean away from the turn in order to get the kart to "jack" more and allow it to rotate without binding. In the case off this turn at k1..relative to the rest of the track its a "long sweeper" and causes the kart to push whip... easy way to avoid that is just lift very slightly. As a past, multiple track record holder, trust me when i say i've tried everything. This was a slow lap in a slow k1 Houston kart. Just a demonstration of the theory, not a real attempt at a track record.
