I wonder if that bug warrants enough attention to be fixed. I love problem solving in games for specific situations! Sekiro is my favorite Souls game for that exact reason. I think for this strat, using the tear that increases summon damage would do more for you than the crimson tear in your physik, maybe. You're right that rush down is the only way to keep her alive.

Why did he send Malenia to fight Radahn knowing full well that Radahn was more likely than not a match for her and might force her to unleash the Scarlet Rot upon the world once more? And of course, why was the reaction of his soldiers upon realizing the nature of his blessing to start blowing themselves up in hopes of serving as beacons to light his way home? Why was Malenia suddenly willing to unleash the Rot she had been fighting her entire life just so her brother could get his boytoy? Chances are the answers to both questions are mind control. He was willing to charm even those completely loyal to him (like Leda) so he probably just used that ability on everyone who let their guard down around him.

I don't know when the taylew kills happened, but my first playthrough of the DLC was mimic tear only, beat radahn on the 22nd and put out the video of the playthrough on the 24th. I used Latenna almost exclusively in my main game playthrough but I ended up abandoning her halfway through the DLC because she would just get shredded. I'm glad you did her some justice.
@@theunder015 Didn't have it at the time! I would replace it with the Hardtear and just use the Uplifting Aromatic for damage mitigation during the meteor.

@@nightscout9979 put on Dragoncrest Greatshield, try to dodge, and hope for the best. Throw in Golden Vow if you can, and Opaline Hardtear should last you the whole fight. Anyway… it’s not very productive to just tank him. You have to remember to kill him.
@@GewalfofWivia No, I've already defeated the boss, I was just pointing out that the above strategies handle the holy damage but seem to have no answer to the apparent physical damage right at the end.
I actually killed him by doing something similar. Not so invested but I was relying a lot on my summon and me tanking. I ended up using the Black steel greatshield because of its holy res.

this is really cool, and i dont want to sound ignorant, but Im like 95% sure consort radahn has no magic damage at all in his kit. Gravity damage is almost 90% physical (unless im mistaken) and Miquellas attacks are holy. Again i might be dumb as fuck but i dont think the magic infusion is worth it at all compared to holy or standard.
It definitely reduces the gravity damage! The meteors and slams do significantly less. It was just a matter of what I could and could not deal with. I can heal in his face all day from holy chip but I can't roll his magic very well. Holy or standard is PERFECTLY fine, just a matter of preference. This is far from optimal.
Let’s go! Congrats! Latenna has always been my favorite summon, I beat Elden ring and the dlc always using her. Except when I started fighting radahn, I tried summoning her a few tries early on but it just seemed like a fight she couldn’t survive in for long and stopped. After dying over 100 times with just me and ansbach I gave up and just got mimic tear and was able to beat radahn soon after. Seeing this does make me happy, let’s go latenna bros
Wouldn't a safer strategy be to use the Pearl Shield talisman rather than the magic infusion for higher blocks against both magic and holy, also allowing a bleed infusion as a backup since you're already using the fingerprint shield, and then you could have the tear that regens ally health in case she takes damage/after the meteor, but if she DOES die, you can still build up bleed and kill the boss relatively safely near the end? I feel like that wouldn't work in practice and I'm missing the reason why lmao. Assuming this is just a strategy and not specifically a challenge of ONLY using Latenna, of course
Your suggestions would work fine! This is specifically just Latenna though. If you wanted to defeat him specifically, I would have used poison darts and rot/bleed/frost pots. I know the mitigation can be more optimized but please understand that my mitigation means nothing if Latenna can't survive. I wasn't worried about the optimal mitigation at all, just if I can protect her up long enough to win. It goes to show that even with me being suboptimal, Latenna pulled through!

So, a little tip for the meteor in Phase 2, there’s a glitch where if you jump 4 times in quick succession, he’s just lands on top of you with no explosion. Pretty neat
Honestly, crimson whirl (hp back on elemental damage) + bonus spirit summon damage tear would probably be best for the "phase 3" transition. Sure you still have to burn a flask, but it'd speed up latennas damage and freely tank the entire meteor.
I didn't have either tear! I would have used it had I had it. This certainly wasn't optimal but the strategy is there so anyone can make it better than I did.
Not sure if anyone pointed it out, already, but when he does the move where he stands on the ground and sends copies of himself forward in a beam of light, the one where you mentioned him dead-angling the shield, you can usually dodge it reliably by simply walking to the right. I reall struggled with it, when I was trying to roll it, but I eventually did a turtle build against him, and figured out that simply holding right is the safest and most reliable way to dodge that move. No idea if that's more dangerous to Latenna, or anything like that, though, just thought I'd point it out, in case it helps someone.
Yeah if you go right his sword and the beams won't hit you, but you can also just stay between his legs before the clones come out and he'll miss completely. That attack does huge damage if you're badly positioned and it's meant to punish pannicking apparantly
@@b-d9099 Yeah, that attack has one shot me at 69 vigot, a good armor and some defensive buffs at blessing level level 15 or something, before. It's no joke. But there's also a weird edge case where you can get hit by the ground rocks of his flying move he uses to rush you down by slamming to the ground, and multiple can hit you, which lead to weird cases where that move has killed me in one shot.
@@lucas_lipp I definitely dodged that one pretty consistently by just rolling into him but if he's far enough away from you he won't land right next to you and that's how it gets janky. He can also sometimes do it when you're right next to him which doesn't leave you much time to react.
@@b-d9099 Yup. That mainly happened to me when I was helping others as a summon, as he targets others who can be close by. But also, due to all his moves that can reach the other side of the arena, his moves in the second phase feel kinda buggy, when doing multiplayer
I love watching videos like this because they're super creative but also show how buggy such an important fight is; hopefully FromSoft messes a little bit with the boss, especially to stop that Ash despawn, that looks infuriating.
Not a slight toward your work at all, but... the way this is basically like assembling Ikea furniture is funny. So not to say a process won't have complicated moments, it's just funny how much work you have to do to make Elden Ring cooperate with you in this particular encounter lmfao.
There are two encounters where Latenna is literally unable to see/target the boss. You have to use Cursed Blood pots to force her to agro, and she stops firing after it wears off. "Use screws from H and attach part C to D? Why are the screws so damn small then? I can't even line it up with the small ass Allen Wrench once it's inside!"
@@snunpai Latenna is probably my favorite summon ash primarily because she has a place in the story vs being a kind of nameless assist or denizen that you take control of alone. The lengths you went through to secure the win with her, while ridiculous, are really cool. Good stuff!

Note: Haligtree sheild has higher Holy Negation than fingerprint, and the Pearlescent Greatsheild Talisman greatly reduces elemental damage when blocking. Also try the Deflecting Crystal Tear.
I know about the negation, which would be fine to optimize this run. The problem was getting Latenna to survive/positioned right. No amount of mitigation would matter if I couldn't get that to work so I didn't optimize it for this run. I also can't optimize it once I've already beaten him.
Every boss has a pool of moves they do at certain ranges! For me, I typically remain close. Bosses like to gap close/interrupt you when you're far, so healing in their face is safer sometimes.
Props to you man Usually i never summon for fights but i consider Latenna as my last resort since i can act as a tank while she does damage and she remains immobile and squishy. also i love her lore she's so cool but throughout my many tries she just consistently got one shotted
for the shield, you could have used the black steel greatshield which can get up to 100% holy damage negation with sacred infusion also the haligtree greatshield with a sacred infusion gets 98.7% damage reduction against holy damage if you don't like the look of the other one, making you able to tank everything with a good physical armor they do have less poise boost than the fingerprint shield but you can put the bull goat talisman if it's necessary to have lots of poise (i'm not at this fight yet so idk if it's needed)
Oh trust me, I know about the shields, I used haligtree for my NG+7 Latenna Elden Beast run. I simply elected to work with the 84% from Fingerprint because I have enough healing. Any excess healing or mitigation means what I was using was acceptable, just not optimal. No amount of extra mitigation or healing would change the strategy on protecting Latenna though, so I had to solidify that part of the strategy first and foremost.
Then heres me dodging (almost) all his moves and memorizing the patterns, including beams lmao. Great job dude! Yea this fight is def buggy at times and the few completely undodgable attacks SUCK
Two things: it’s great to see our girl Lattena finally seeing some appreciation! I used her to kill Fire Giant twice in the base game by doing something similar but different. Second, If you can spare the Faith levels, Heal from Afar can heal spirit summons remotely at long range which is cool for keeping them alive longer. Might be useful for strats like this. I think I saw someone else had done this with having the Furnace Golem spirit solo PCR.
It's wild because wlore wise you are literally asking Latenna to do the worst thing possible for her, as she and the albinaurics consider Miquella to be their savior.
Can deflecting hardtear play any role here? You were saying how blocking the hits were draining your stamina. Of you deflect them, I don't think they will drain your stamina. (It's either zero stamina loss or very little.) Moreover, it might work well against the holy projectiles. Haven't fought him yet but I was fighting Scadutree avatar yesterday. That boss throws a barrage of shiny particles at you. With deflecting hardtear, when I manage to deflect them well, my healthbar barely reduces. Maybe it's possible to deflect them well enough to do zero damage. Edit: realized you use the physick bottle at the very end, so probably not very helpful in your case.
Another fun bug, if you're punishing/critical attacking when transitioning into the second phase, the Host will spawn near the fog door, with the summons. None of Radahn's attacks can reach, so you get about 5-10 seconds of buff time. This can be exploited with the right pattern applied.
Shabriri's Woe doesn't work for Latenna from what I've seen. It's also redundant because agro isn't relevant when she's too far away to be targeted. You only need to draw agro to lure bosses far away enough. Throwing knives are an amazing way to take agro if the boss gets close to Latenna. Briar is for the damage on roll, so dodging naturally draws agro as you avoid damage. It's also part of the pacifist idea, as it does damage without attacking (Technicality I know but that's the point). The gloves are the easiest slot to give up for it.
4:50 BTW, This is Radahn's "Shield Break" attack if i'm remembering correctly (much like Commander Nial's slow down slam), So the spamming of block is causing Radahn to use it more often... (though typically most AI is very inconsistant in this game specifically compared to other Souls games... Radahn is EXTRA stupid of all the DLC bosses too... (Somehow???))
People talk shit about summon/op-weapons, and this man just proved that summoning can be extremely skillful and strategical. Btw shout out to him finding his own way beating Radahn other than rolling or mimic. It’s difficult, but not solvable, with all kinda ways.
That charge up horizontal slash that dead angles your shield? So long as you're on top of him, you can just walk forward and it can't hit you. The hurtbox doesn't start up til a bit after the glowing after image. Also, in all the times I fought him I never once saw him multi chop from the sky then bug out on the last one like that. Kinda funny.
I believe its more like the holy bursts on the ground cause you to drop your shield to then be hit by the horizontal slash. I personally have had inconsistent behavior with it when trying to block it, similar to Messmer's snake attacks. I believe you when you say to just walk forward though! I swear he bugged out just to try and end that run. Not only did he create distance to use an explosion, he then used Miquella's nuke WHILE outside of Latenna's range. If he at least uses it while Latenna's firing, it's free damage but noooo. Thank you for the comment!
I especially appreciate FromSoft because it truly means "anything is viable". They keep their busted weapons and spells but the goofy ones are still fun.
I'll definitely try that. I don't look up how to do bosses until well after several playthroughs, so I was just working with what I understood (Raptors being amazing at dodging AoE).
I did fight him with the mimic tear, it was a constant battle between keeping the tear alive so we could share agroo or me dying too fast. After hours of practice, and equiping healing items for the mimic tear, I got a good run: first phase dpsed him while using 3 flask, second fase the mimic tear came in clutch killing him when I ran out of healing.

I don't think so. I remember people killing radahn with only golemsmith taylew when the dlc just came out. I also tried it a couple days ago.
but tbh using taylew is too easy. he can solo radahn as long as you heal him up once in a while.

There's a talisman in Shaman Village which gives an ungodly amount of holy resistance, always worth slotting for this fight imo

I actually killed him by doing something similar. Not so invested but I was relying a lot on my summon and me tanking. I ended up using the Black steel greatshield because of its holy res.
That shield with the 100% holy res is just glorious

this is really cool, and i dont want to sound ignorant, but Im like 95% sure consort radahn has no magic damage at all in his kit. Gravity damage is almost 90% physical (unless im mistaken) and Miquellas attacks are holy. Again i might be dumb as fuck but i dont think the magic infusion is worth it at all compared to holy or standard.
It definitely reduces the gravity damage! The meteors and slams do significantly less. It was just a matter of what I could and could not deal with. I can heal in his face all day from holy chip but I can't roll his magic very well.
Holy or standard is PERFECTLY fine, just a matter of preference. This is far from optimal.

Let’s go! Congrats! Latenna has always been my favorite summon, I beat Elden ring and the dlc always using her. Except when I started fighting radahn, I tried summoning her a few tries early on but it just seemed like a fight she couldn’t survive in for long and stopped. After dying over 100 times with just me and ansbach I gave up and just got mimic tear and was able to beat radahn soon after. Seeing this does make me happy, let’s go latenna bros

Wouldn't a safer strategy be to use the Pearl Shield talisman rather than the magic infusion for higher blocks against both magic and holy, also allowing a bleed infusion as a backup since you're already using the fingerprint shield, and then you could have the tear that regens ally health in case she takes damage/after the meteor, but if she DOES die, you can still build up bleed and kill the boss relatively safely near the end? I feel like that wouldn't work in practice and I'm missing the reason why lmao.
Assuming this is just a strategy and not specifically a challenge of ONLY using Latenna, of course
Your suggestions would work fine! This is specifically just Latenna though. If you wanted to defeat him specifically, I would have used poison darts and rot/bleed/frost pots.
I know the mitigation can be more optimized but please understand that my mitigation means nothing if Latenna can't survive. I wasn't worried about the optimal mitigation at all, just if I can protect her up long enough to win. It goes to show that even with me being suboptimal, Latenna pulled through!

So, a little tip for the meteor in Phase 2, there’s a glitch where if you jump 4 times in quick succession, he’s just lands on top of you with no explosion. Pretty neat

Honestly, crimson whirl (hp back on elemental damage) + bonus spirit summon damage tear would probably be best for the "phase 3" transition. Sure you still have to burn a flask, but it'd speed up latennas damage and freely tank the entire meteor.
I didn't have either tear! I would have used it had I had it. This certainly wasn't optimal but the strategy is there so anyone can make it better than I did.
Not sure if anyone pointed it out, already, but when he does the move where he stands on the ground and sends copies of himself forward in a beam of light, the one where you mentioned him dead-angling the shield, you can usually dodge it reliably by simply walking to the right. I reall struggled with it, when I was trying to roll it, but I eventually did a turtle build against him, and figured out that simply holding right is the safest and most reliable way to dodge that move.
No idea if that's more dangerous to Latenna, or anything like that, though, just thought I'd point it out, in case it helps someone.
Yeah if you go right his sword and the beams won't hit you, but you can also just stay between his legs before the clones come out and he'll miss completely. That attack does huge damage if you're badly positioned and it's meant to punish pannicking apparantly

Yeah, that attack has one shot me at 69 vigot, a good armor and some defensive buffs at blessing level level 15 or something, before. It's no joke.
But there's also a weird edge case where you can get hit by the ground rocks of his flying move he uses to rush you down by slamming to the ground, and multiple can hit you, which lead to weird cases where that move has killed me in one shot.
@@lucas_lipp I definitely dodged that one pretty consistently by just rolling into him but if he's far enough away from you he won't land right next to you and that's how it gets janky. He can also sometimes do it when you're right next to him which doesn't leave you much time to react.

Yup. That mainly happened to me when I was helping others as a summon, as he targets others who can be close by.
But also, due to all his moves that can reach the other side of the arena, his moves in the second phase feel kinda buggy, when doing multiplayer

I love watching videos like this because they're super creative but also show how buggy such an important fight is; hopefully FromSoft messes a little bit with the boss, especially to stop that Ash despawn, that looks infuriating.
Not a slight toward your work at all, but... the way this is basically like assembling Ikea furniture is funny. So not to say a process won't have complicated moments, it's just funny how much work you have to do to make Elden Ring cooperate with you in this particular encounter lmfao.
There are two encounters where Latenna is literally unable to see/target the boss. You have to use Cursed Blood pots to force her to agro, and she stops firing after it wears off.

@@snunpai Latenna is probably my favorite summon ash primarily because she has a place in the story vs being a kind of nameless assist or denizen that you take control of alone.

Considering Radahn himself can just despawn and die and that happened with me and a few other people, I doubt ashes vanishing is intentional
Note: Haligtree sheild has higher Holy Negation than fingerprint, and the Pearlescent Greatsheild Talisman greatly reduces elemental damage when blocking.
Also try the Deflecting Crystal Tear.
I know about the negation, which would be fine to optimize this run. The problem was getting Latenna to survive/positioned right.
No amount of mitigation would matter if I couldn't get that to work so I didn't optimize it for this run. I also can't optimize it once I've already beaten him.

Every boss has a pool of moves they do at certain ranges! For me, I typically remain close. Bosses like to gap close/interrupt you when you're far, so healing in their face is safer sometimes.

Usually i never summon for fights but i consider Latenna as my last resort since i can act as a tank while she does damage and she remains immobile and squishy. also i love her lore she's so cool but throughout my many tries she just consistently got one shotted

I finally beat him, though by parry, but god you cant see shit the entire second phase
for the shield, you could have used the black steel greatshield which can get up to 100% holy damage negation with sacred infusion
also the haligtree greatshield with a sacred infusion gets 98.7% damage reduction against holy damage if you don't like the look of the other one, making you able to tank everything with a good physical armor
they do have less poise boost than the fingerprint shield but you can put the bull goat talisman if it's necessary to have lots of poise (i'm not at this fight yet so idk if it's needed)
Oh trust me, I know about the shields, I used haligtree for my NG+7 Latenna Elden Beast run. I simply elected to work with the 84% from Fingerprint because I have enough healing. Any excess healing or mitigation means what I was using was acceptable, just not optimal.
No amount of extra mitigation or healing would change the strategy on protecting Latenna though, so I had to solidify that part of the strategy first and foremost.

Two things: it’s great to see our girl Lattena finally seeing some appreciation! I used her to kill Fire Giant twice in the base game by doing something similar but different. Second, If you can spare the Faith levels, Heal from Afar can heal spirit summons remotely at long range which is cool for keeping them alive longer. Might be useful for strats like this. I think I saw someone else had done this with having the Furnace Golem spirit solo PCR.
It's wild because wlore wise you are literally asking Latenna to do the worst thing possible for her, as she and the albinaurics consider Miquella to be their savior.
Can deflecting hardtear play any role here?
You were saying how blocking the hits were draining your stamina. Of you deflect them, I don't think they will drain your stamina. (It's either zero stamina loss or very little.)
Moreover, it might work well against the holy projectiles. Haven't fought him yet but I was fighting Scadutree avatar yesterday.
That boss throws a barrage of shiny particles at you. With deflecting hardtear, when I manage to deflect them well, my healthbar barely reduces. Maybe it's possible to deflect them well enough to do zero damage.
Edit: realized you use the physick bottle at the very end, so probably not very helpful in your case.
It would work just fine! The physick was just the way I found first. As long as you survive the meteor without running, you'd get the same outcome.
Another fun bug, if you're punishing/critical attacking when transitioning into the second phase, the Host will spawn near the fog door, with the summons. None of Radahn's attacks can reach, so you get about 5-10 seconds of buff time. This can be exploited with the right pattern applied.
Hello, I know I’m here late, but i was wondering why you decided on briar+ dew talisman instead of Shabriri’s Woe and more tanky gauntlets?
Shabriri's Woe doesn't work for Latenna from what I've seen. It's also redundant because agro isn't relevant when she's too far away to be targeted. You only need to draw agro to lure bosses far away enough. Throwing knives are an amazing way to take agro if the boss gets close to Latenna.
Briar is for the damage on roll, so dodging naturally draws agro as you avoid damage. It's also part of the pacifist idea, as it does damage without attacking (Technicality I know but that's the point). The gloves are the easiest slot to give up for it.

4:50 BTW, This is Radahn's "Shield Break" attack if i'm remembering correctly (much like Commander Nial's slow down slam), So the spamming of block is causing Radahn to use it more often... (though typically most AI is very inconsistant in this game specifically compared to other Souls games... Radahn is EXTRA stupid of all the DLC bosses too... (Somehow???))

Btw shout out to him finding his own way beating Radahn other than rolling or mimic. It’s difficult, but not solvable, with all kinda ways.

So long as you're on top of him, you can just walk forward and it can't hit you. The hurtbox doesn't start up til a bit after the glowing after image.
Also, in all the times I fought him I never once saw him multi chop from the sky then bug out on the last one like that. Kinda funny.
I believe its more like the holy bursts on the ground cause you to drop your shield to then be hit by the horizontal slash. I personally have had inconsistent behavior with it when trying to block it, similar to Messmer's snake attacks. I believe you when you say to just walk forward though!
I swear he bugged out just to try and end that run. Not only did he create distance to use an explosion, he then used Miquella's nuke WHILE outside of Latenna's range. If he at least uses it while Latenna's firing, it's free damage but noooo. Thank you for the comment!

It does, but you either have to dodge some initial lasers or time it correctly to use it twice.

I especially appreciate FromSoft because it truly means "anything is viable". They keep their busted weapons and spells but the goofy ones are still fun.
When Radahn goes to meteor you can just spam jump in place and he will just spawn next to you without doing any damage.
I'll definitely try that. I don't look up how to do bosses until well after several playthroughs, so I was just working with what I understood (Raptors being amazing at dodging AoE).
I did fight him with the mimic tear, it was a constant battle between keeping the tear alive so we could share agroo or me dying too fast. After hours of practice, and equiping healing items for the mimic tear, I got a good run: first phase dpsed him while using 3 flask, second fase the mimic tear came in clutch killing him when I ran out of healing.
