- This sketchbook was inspired by Arthur Morgan's journal in RDR2. So I decided to fill up an entire book with my Elden ring play through.
I will be making a video for all the major areas. This a fan made project for fun, for practice, and love of the game created by Fromsoft.
I do not claim to have created any of the characters or anything from this world.
I also used some map layouts from an artist named IAN OD AKA The mediocre artist who mapped out certain areas of the game because
I wanted to avoid the tedium involved, be sure to check out his work. I cannot sell this book, and this video will not be monetized
by me since I do not own the copyrights to this property and I reference a few works from other artists.
The majority of the art was made painstakingly by me as a labor of love.
Jesus christ, thanks for the overwhelming support and positive comments. Despite my cringe narration and amateur artwork it seems like there are a few folks who at least got something out of this video. I want to emphasize I do not claim to be a great artist or a reasonable sane individual, I fill up these giant sketchbooks because I suck and want to get better. I do these videos because I'm a shy awkward dork who sucks at real life interactions. I wanted to study what from soft did with this game and have fun doing it. Please read the description of this video if this is unclear. If for any reason people have a problem with this video I'll simply pull it and I'll keep my journal to myself as originally intended. To think that some people criticized this game by saying it contains no story or narrative, and then this guy just documents his entire adventure, capturing the experience and story it provided him. Excellent work!
actually theres two ways to look at this.
one, its games like The Last of Us, which provided you a story that you walk along in and everything is dictated for you, a pre-made narrative.
then theres games like elden ring, which provide you with the options for stories, but its up to you to play the part. a choice based narrative.
the latter has "less story" since you're the one who makes it up yourself, while the former has "more story" because you're handed the actual story from the developers mind already.
not that one is a better approach than the other, its just a matter of narratology vs ludology, and thats fine.

People criticize this not having a story? Its probably the most narrative rich game since the last of us. What are they smoking.
Yeah I think people get mad at the main endings, for one as they appear to be anti-climactic on the surface. But there is certainly a narrative, not only a compelling backstory. The narrative is told much more like real life than a work of fiction and that's always been From's style. You don't realize what the narrative was until after the fact and even then it's unclear. But that's intentional. And the more I've played it, the more invested I've been in the world of Elden Ring.

@@badtuber1654 Look, i love Gothic 1, 2 and Witcher 1, 2, 3 but i also love Elden Ring. The Story telling is completely different. Elden Ring doesn't tell you the whole story, you have to come up with it trough environmental storytelling. Elden Ring is like a Riddle, meanwhile in Witcher and Gothic you can't really miss the story if you listen to the NPC's. One story telling isn't better than the other, they are just different.

Damn man. This is so awesome. I have never been super great at art personally. I seem to lack the knack for it. But something like this makes me want to try and practice to get decent enough at it to do things like this. Being able to almanac and journal all of what you did in Elden Ring, almost like Arthur from RDR2 noting his journey and travels is just so cool. It really feels like we get to live this experience you had through the game thanks to your journal and art. I love the theming throughout too. That it was almost a fairy tail story book narrating in the 1st person but the perspective is in the 3rd.
You should get a weather proof bag and a place it in a safe. Imagine one day if you have a family and let them play this game and eventually show them what you made back when you did it for the 1st time.

We are the ones who have to git gud at art, you’re a fucking master (and this is coming from an industry professional.) It’s such a joy to experience the game again through your eyes. Bro this is insane. As a souls fan, I absolutely adore this. This just exemplifies what Fromsoft wants to have from their community, just this level of love and dedication to every level of their game, from someone that is not fully versed in every little detail, specially so even, taking into account the company leads history.

I know you took Arthur's journal as inspiration for this, but this really makes me think of the Journal's in Gravity Falls, just exploring this incredibly strange world and commenting on it's oddities. I love all of the little personalization that make it feel like a Tarnished penned this as they traveled, from the comments of how many deaths it took to kill a boss, to calling the imps assholes

Maybe youve borrowed a bit much here that it would be a pain in the ass to clear everything but if you made a visual novel just like this but instead telling the story of Vike or Shabriri you could sell that for top dollar. Millions of less talented people make a living off things not half as good as this. You deserve a spot and I have no doubt you'll get it.

You're amazing. Elden Ring has been keeping me busy lately when I'm tired of life and having tough decisions ahead of me. After playing +70 hours 2 years ago, i stopped and hopped back in 2 weeks ago and been so into the world and wanting to find every item.

I'm planning on watching this video fully, but as an artist that loves elden ring, this is just beautiful. The borders, the colours you chose to use, and the different scenes of your journey are absolutely stunning. Having an entire book dedicated to elden ring is so cool, and I wish I was as dedicated as this. I'm currently doing my second playthrough of elden ring and I have to say that you've inspired me to do some drawing of my own. It may not be as grand as drawing my entire journey, but maybe I'll draw some weapons and characters here and there. Thank you for sharing this

Bro. This is one of the coolest fucking things I've ever seen. Genuinely. This could be a book for kids to look at. It'd go crazy on that kind of market. Even the gamers too like I'd have this on my Shelf standing out among the rest???
You have an extremely creative mind, and a patient ethic to go along side it which I love to see. You haven't just earned a Sub (After I Un-sub from somebody because I'm at the limit lol) You've earned your very own culture of respect honestly. I know this was probably a personal, creative/fun piece for you but your pure artistic ability, patience and drive to write an entire 600 page book, memory of the game and how you articulate it as to give us a journey into YOUR journey of the game was EXTREMELY vivid past even the art you did for it. I could FEEL, the emotions, the infatuation, the love for the game and art you do coupled with your passion were engraved into this book and I loved every moment of my viewing this.
The only thing I'll say which I don't even actually dislike, is your tone it sounded silent/apathetic which to me I saw as "Dead fish" but I was happy when you raised your voice and chuckled at certain times. Basically what I'm saying is you should be proud of this. You should show this to the world with your heart on your sleeve with your emotions ERUPTING.
Though again, this is just me and would match MY energy. The other side of me was very glad you spoke gently with emotion because most influencers/creators give me a migraine, so thanks :D
My favorite pages were the Burial watchdog and Caelid/Dead end page and the Zamor evergaol and the gladiator page and the and the and and and ALL OF THEM. Man you absolutely made my day and gave me a burst of Creative inspiration, you made me feel like I don't work hard enough. Thank you I meant it. I'm gonna use this motivation in your honor cause you bring light to others by making the light for yourself.
