Shaving Your Head For Hair Loss | When Is The Right Time?

- How do you know it’s the right time to shave your head for hair loss? I can only provide the answer to how I knew it was the right time for me. No one has to shave their head, for me, this was the hardest thing I did in my hair loss life and it literally took everything being stripped away from me to be able to do it.
The short answer is, my hair no longer served ANY purpose whatsoever, it only caused me pain in every way imaginable. I don’t love having a shaved head, but I can look at myself this way, which is something I could not say in just the days and months prior to doing it. I was brushing my teeth in a beanie, and had something on my head 24/7. I didn’t want to live that way, it was not free, it was the opposite of free. Imprisoned. My hair loss was torturing me in ways it had not done for quite sometime. Sometimes even just a hair cut makes all the difference, and shaving isn’t necessary, that served me well for over a decade. I cut my hair to a shaved back, longer front hair cut in 2012 and it helped me to see less of the fall, shorter hair looks thicker and it made wig wearing easier. That worked until I got a second hair loss last year.
No one has to shave their head, it’s just what was necessary for me at this point in my hair loss life. It is jarring to see yourself this way, I’m 4 months in and it’s getting a little easier to see myself like this, but I have not fully adjusted to it yet, but I have never once regretted it. ❤️
