Yes, this is true. I'm an American who has been living in Japan for almost 20 years. There is so much civility in this country. Yes, there are some instances of rude behavior. I see it on trains (especially on bullet trains). Sometimes I have to travel between Osaka and Tokyo and I'm fine with either form of transportation. People here are definitely civilized. I don't know what I left the last time I was in the US (just recently). The service kind of deteriorated at restaurants and the servers still expected their now 20% tip, unlike in Japan, where tipping is not the custom but still with great service.

I flew on domestic flights in Japan in the late 1980s. It was staggering that they served a meal on a 747 on a flight that couldn’t have been more than two hours. The efficiency is beyond compare. Japan remains perhaps my favorite country to visit. I love everything about it, with the exception of the summer heat. If anyone could invent a way to air condition an entire country outdoors, the Japanese would be the first to figure it out! I’ve seen blocks of ice at subway stations where people would briefly put their heads to cool off!
I ❤ Japan! It always feels like I’m stepping back in time when I come back to the US. We are SO far behind with transportation especially.

Great video report, glad you made it this way. Have flown domestic in Japan myself and love how they do it so well, efficiently and polite. Japan is a great country. Look how clean and tidy it is everywhere. Love reports about the Dash-8-400, it is a great airplane if airlines allow it to be great.

Super cool trip report David! Love all the cool fun facts. I understand you can’t do it for every trip report but once in a while would be great. Japan is on my bucket list and this video makes me want to go there even more!❤️✈️

I am a Japanese person living in Kyoto. After watching this video, I always stay at the APA Hotel Hakata Gion Ekimae whenever I go to Fukuoka.

I go to a large flight school on the west coast with a large international program for Korea and Japan. I love learning and flying with these aspiring professionals cool to think that someday I might fly on one of their planes.

Very well done David! I love the commentary relating to life in Japan since I have never been there. But I was laughing heartily when you are in the lavatory and showing how small it is, then immediately show a paper cup full of yellow liquid!
