Took a flight from Budapest to Seoul with Korean Air this June. Absolutely amazing. The boarding goes smooth, the crew is amazing, the food is ok-ish. And you want to see the safety video again and again. Flying with them was one of the most entertaining experiences ever
I flew Korean Air last july from Rome to Seoul. Despite the 2 hours delay, i may say Korean Air was the best airline i've ever flown. The service, the courtesy, the food, all the experience was amazing. From Brazil to Italy i flew LATAM, and i could see the difference between the airlines from Europe and Americas to the ones based in the extreme orient. I wish i could fly with them again, specially because the miles program i use, Smiles from Gol Airlines, have really good prices to fly with Korean Air. Watching your review made me remember that incredible flight.

Flying to Korea in two weeks on their 777 this was a well timed video. Thank you!! I was gutted about not getting business but after seeing this I will survive happily in economy.😊
As a SuperM fan and fellow Trash Taste lover, and a loooong time viewer of this channel, you have no idea how happy this video has made me. Flew Korea Air from South East Asia to Vancouver and back again. I love their bibimbap, super tasty even if I compare to what I can get in Korea. The entertainment system is very lacking but I can always pre-download videos. There was an almost 12-hour layover for my flight and they very kindly arranged an airport hotel room for free! I was only flying economy.
I flew Korean from YYZ-ICN, ICN-HAN, BKK-ICN and ICN-YYZ. 777 on the Asian flights and 787 on the transpacific flights. Probably some of my favourite flights. Super comfy, good food, decent IFE. Absolutely no complaints.
i flew Korean Air from lax to icn in july 2022 on board there 747-800 in economy. it was the most amazing flight. the food was fantastic the seats were comfortable and the crew was out of this world. what blew me away was when a baby started crying 3 fa’s went over to help the mom calm the baby bringing toys and more. it was amazing to watch. also when i got air sick on the flight home i asked the flight attendant for a bag and they also brought me a whole sprite to help ease my stomach. there crew is extraordinary.
Wow.... looks like a really nice airline to fly with. I hope that Korean Air do a review of their cabin temperature. I found it is always more comfortable to have the cabin a little on the cooler side and use the blanket if necessary. Warm cabins can make you feel restless.
I took a roundtrip (Feb 2023) Korean Air from YVR to southeast Asia with layover in ICN. One of the best choice I've done in my travel. Looking forward to flying with them again in October. Cheers
I’ve been to Seoul a couple of times but actually never flew with Korean Air. As I’m just thinking of my next trip going there I will this time definitely considering Korean Air as the prices are all pretty similar to other Airlines. Thank you for the review and hopefully you had a nice stay in Seoul! Just a quick edit: K-ETA is not necessary anymore for certain countries as of recently.
My only flight on Korean air so far is a domestic flight on a 737-900, from Jeju to Seoul I took last year. The plane was practically empty, so I enjoyed loads of room to move around. The crew was also, frankly adorable. Whenever I fly a new airline for the first time, I like to get the crew to sign a piece of paper with the airplane I’m flying printed on it, as a momento. I kindly asked the three flight attendants to sign, using a translator app to show them what I wanted. They all stated at each other and just laughed after 10s. Then we started chatting a little, turns out they never came across an avgeek before. They look quite young, so I think they could be junior crew learning the ropes on domestic flights. I look forward to flying Korean Air again, on a proper mid-long haul flight this time.
i choose EVA Air for my first longhaul flights (to and from japan via Taiwan) because of the videos of this channel. I watch this channel because i am not 100% sure, but it could be that david and i were in same class in elementary school back then, - and of course because of the huge quality of their videos.
At 3:15 that is the exact reason why Vienna is one of my favorite airport 😅😅.Boy at 6:02 even some airlines don't give that much of legroom in premium economy

In general the interior seems to be a bit more dated but the principles of the airline and its service look awesome! Would definitely like to try them one day, another great review David :)
Nice video David! Since you are on the mission to fly every airline, would you try Kuwait Airways A330-800neo? They are one of the only airlines flying that specific type and I know you love to try new planes/airlines.
In addition to Super-M in the safety video, BoA (another singer) was also in it too as the female lead announcing the safety rules at the beginning of the safety video.
How was your transit experience? Did you have to pick up bags in baggage claim then check them in or did the airline check it thru all the way to your final destination?

Hi David, thank you for a great trip review. I have been flying Korean a lot in between Australia and Europe in 2013-2017 and it always was a great experience, specifically with a 5 star hotel free overnight transit
Thanks for the amazing report. I would never fly Korean Air. 25 Celsius degree in a open space is one thing but in a confined space like airplane cabin can be suffocating and tiring. The service is good for those who want to try Korean food stile
My favourite airline! I've flown with them several times between CDG -> INC, and INC ->NRT. Great service, fantastic food. Can't say I've ever had a problem with cabin temperature.

@@paulsz6194 i flew ZRH-BKK early this year and I flew economy class. There was a generous hot meal with salad and dessert, real cutlery and severeal rounds with the drink cart. When I booked the flight I was given the option to upgrade my meal experience for a fee which I chose not to but there was some tasty dishes on offer.
I flew with Lufthansa FRA-HKG. Terrible catering. Sandwich with eggplant is just ridiculous, and the bread was tough... The main course was a literary dwarf's meal. No wonder they lost their star, now 4 stars only. I will stick with Cathay Pacific next time, the East Asian services are just better, not only Korean Air, Vietnam Airlines, China Airlines or the renowned ANA and Singapore Airlines.
I want those guys from the @trashtaste channel to take note of your video, that you preferred to watch their videos over Korean Air inflight system offerings. :) I also want to to fly with the likes of Korean Air to Asia next time, but it doesn't look like their costs are going to go down any time soon. Thanks for the trip report and well done!
Korean Air is old fashioned in both good and bad ways. The 9 abreast economy on their 777s and their excellent legroom are examples of the good side. The bad side is that they're a bit slow on catching up on modern tech on aviation, such as inflight wifi and their entertainment system. Their livery is also quite old, but still way better than following the eurowhite trend.
I agree I don't like how they like to keep the plane very warm. The last time I flew Korean Airlines was before the pandemic in 2019. Even in business class, it was still hot. On the A380 my wife and I flew, I noticed the storage room on the side of my seat was cold so we took the pillows from empty seats and let them get cold and swapped them around just to stay comfortable. We even brought mini fans to try to stay cool.
Bought a KE ticket, SEA-ICH-SIN, that was manned by DL out of SEA. KE took over at ICH. This flight was perfect to compare the differences between the two Skyteam partners. Plenty of space on KE's 777 and the catering was one step above DL. A welcome relief for a long flight!
They're up there with JAL and SGP for sure. Took one of their A380's from LAX to ICN the a 747-400 from there to BKK way back at least ten years . Very comfortable.
I flew Qatar 777 in 343 layout and it was very tight especially 3 wide men shoulder to shoulder and me being in the middle. that's what the airlines think of their customer when they'd rather make the aisles wider than the customers seat... although you might be grateful for it if SHTF
Nice video. I think the aircraft you took was a 77W that Korean Air recieved before 2015...because of the seats and tv screen. I ride recently their most recent 77W, those one have same seats and tv screen than their 747-8i that i also experienced last month for CDG-ICN route.
Regarding the onboard temperature, I think 23-25 deg C is actually very comfortable! How is that unreasonably hot? It'll be hot if you have a jacket or hoody on, of course. Easy solution - take off jacket LoL. Plain t-shirt and pants/shorts, and you'll be comfortable. But anyway, other than your remark about the temperature, I agree with everything else. The legroom is stupendously awesome, the food is fantastic, the cabin crews are so friendly, cordial, polite and eager to please. And being skyteam elite plus, I was pleasantly surprised recently when the purser came up to me and gave me a personal welcome as their "special guest" aboard. I don't get that on Delta LoL. After my recent flight with KE, I'm looking to fly them more and more =]
I can only recommend you to try Asiana's A380 as well! I flew Frankfurt - Incheon, both ways the meals were pretty good, probably comparable to your Korean Air meals. They actually were one of the cheapest options, and I can't remember a thing they did worse than Korean Air :D
Looking forward to my long haul flight from Chicago to Bangkok on Korean Air. I’ve flown ANA before and can’t wait to compare. I almost subscribed but I’ve spent my entire life using Fahrenheit.
Very impressive. If I ever need to choose an airline to get to Europe the detour via Seoul might be worthwhile.

I feel prior to the pandemic their service was good but never really exciting. Now it just seemed dated compared to many of their competitors. I didn't know about the cabin temp but now I know why I was dying on my flight!
Hi, would you please inform me how the carry-on weighting process was for you? I have an international flight to Vietnam soon, and not sure if Korean Air will weight both my backpack and carry-on.. thank you!
Glad you liked the flight. I usually find meal services on KE to be mediocre, pleasantly surprised that you considered them praise worthy. Just FYI, 23~25C is viewed as ‘just right’ room temperature here in Korea, and KE is mostly geared toward Korean passengers so that’s the reason for… unreasonably hot cabin temp. Conversely, I usually find the cabins to be very cold whenever I fly western airlines.
Oh, taking 77W again!! Btw, any pivot overhead bins haters here? Pivot overhead bins surely look avant-garde compared to shelf overhead bins, and hold more. But consider placing 6 tins of 0.5 kg Danish butter cookies into the bins and you can have a happy time trying to close it(It's even merrier if your two souvenir shopaholic neighbors do the same in the same bins, or they buy more, and don't forget you might have your backpack already heavy). I won't say that the airline should not fit the aircraft with pivots overhead bins(They are voluminous), but they should not cut corners in repair costs and should install motors to help passengers open and close them more easily.
Flew Asiana from Seoul to Jakarta during winter and their cabin was uncomfortably hot too. But the inbound flight to Seoul from Jakarta the cabin temp was fine.
this one is very nice, especially when i compare it with my flight to RUN with air france (3 4 3 configuration) even the seats were more used and older
I prefer 777-300ER to trade off the aging interiors for more seat space, it was the most comfortable I ever fly long haul, I sat on A350, A330 and 737 and they are all too tight for me to sleep
Now I know why I was sweating and feeling hot during my last flight with them back in 2017. Even though it was a red-eye, the cabin feels warm so I was not able to sleep comfortably without using the safety card as a fan...
I loved the shot at Fahrenheit lmao, here in Canada I use Celsius for outdoor temperature but Fahrenheit for indoor temperature, and cooking temperature.

I used to love 777-300ers..until Airlines ruined the experience one by one. Glad to see Korean still keeps passengers in mind.
Blame emirates. They started the 10 abreast crime against humanity
This was really helpful, Great job. I especially liked the K-pop safety video since I know exactly who they are, a K-pop group called SuperM.
The Fahrenheit slander is unreal and I respect it
Oh, taking 77W again!!
Great flight. And yeah that's safety video.
Can't believe it took this long to fly Korean. But happy!
Now I know why I was sweating and feeling hot during my last flight with them back in 2017. Even though it was a red-eye, the cabin feels warm so I was not able to sleep comfortably without using the safety card as a fan...
Korean air are pretty good 😊
I loved the shot at Fahrenheit lmao, here in Canada I use Celsius for outdoor temperature but Fahrenheit for indoor temperature, and cooking temperature.
Always wanted to fly with them at least once. But 23-35 degrees is just an absolute no-go
