in the retro gaming world of macintosh there have been some 'guides' listed that teach to tear parts off the board. just as you did. obviously there are plenty of posts about how to 'fix' the damage but it amounts to around 20-30% that actually have board damage. so id say its not terribly uncommon to have pads remain on the boards. id feel confident in saying however - the older the tech, the less likely it is for a pad to tear off. newer stuff is more delicate.
I don’t know how I feel about this video after consumers seeing this, trying to fix their own HDMI port they’re going to rip them off with pliers 😮 my opinion people just don’t care about their items that much and the parents parents will fork the money up to have it repaired because it’s the newer generation babysitter

Friggin Sony! I wonder how many were discarded simply for this manufacturing fault? Despicable.
So far,i haven't had a issue wirhh my ps5, but the xbox series x,thats a different story, hdmi from what i see ,looks good but no display
