I am glad I stumbled upon this video. I’m wanting to take out a window for a walk in closet and I like the way you did the floor. Very nicely done sir.
Don't be so hard on yourself! You didn't have to explain anything, most if the time I enjoy a quick and quiet video just watching how someone else does the job. It was great! Just needed a good basic idea. Thinking about adding on a third room so our boys don't have to share anymore.
Yeah, it’s been a while...been busy with the holidays and it takes me forever to edit videos on my dumb old laptop, but I’m trying! Happy new year to you too, thanks for watching!
On the block work , I noticed you have some type of paper barrier , what is it called ? Also the bock has screws to tight down your treated 2x10 , how did you have it inside the black ?
It is a sill gasket that goes down before the plate, and the bolts are mortared in. Here’s another build series that shows it in more detail: th-cam.com/play/PLhCJj4xH2v-dzxlX-cIkq_o0lKo78AZKu.html
Any tips for adding a room to a travel trailer as we'd like to add a room off our sliding door so there is more room and one extra so if family member stays there is a room and bed for them but haven't been able to find much on converting or adding a addition to a travel trailer like what we want any tips
I only wish I had a home to add onto... I have a 1 bedroom condo, but at least I have a back yard (10x25) if you can call it a back yard. I have patio, a grill and some grass (amazon fake grass lol.)
Where I am, the whole city government is housed in one building downtown. If you live in a smaller town, maybe the Chamber of Commerce could let you know who to call. If you’re in a really rural area, sometimes they done even have building permits required.
What was sticking up through the cylinder blocks, that you put wood on and screwed it down? I like what have seen. Please and thank you for commenting.
Yeah, there was some type of cobbled-on little porch. This was my first day on the job site, so I don’t know exactly what was there originally before the mason tore everything out and put in the foundation.

How deep did you have to go down for the foundation blocks? Good job by the way!
I didn’t do the foundation, but where I’m at, the footer has to be 36” below grade.

I want do this same things but making a bathroom bigger

I’ve never done an addition on a travel trailer, I’d definitely check into zoning and building codes if you’re going to do that though!
Good job Sir, Can i ask what tape is that at 2:15 ?
That is a sill seal, it’s a foam gasket that goes between the foundation and the sill plates.
Thanks.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Good work so far. I built a shed. It looks like I could do this too. What was the cost?
I’m not sure of the total cost, I just framed it for a contractor. Probably $12-$15,000 fully finished.
@@MyDIYAdventures Got it, thanks. Good work
For a small adition like this, does the new foundation need to be the
same depth as the old and tied in together?
No, code doesn’t require that where I’m at.
@MyDIYAdventures ok, thanks. Do you get freezing temps? Where I live frostline is 18 inches below grade
@jakeb1778 yes we do, the footer on this is 36” below grade, but the house is on a basement with a much deeper footer.
Did you have to put ventilation in the foundation? Just curious, I’m doing something very similar.
I’m not sure that foundation had any vents, if I recall correctly, it was open to the basement.
I only wish I had a home to add onto...

Be thankful! That’s a lot more than some people have!😃
My DIY Adventures very true my brother. 👍🏼
Hello good job,, my question is : the addition really need a foundation ?? Or it can just make with concrete holes? Thank you.
It definitely needs a foundation
The foundation, bricks, did you go below grade? ( Frost) just curious I've never done this before
The blocks start a little bit below grade, but they sit on the concrete footer that goes 36-40” below grade.
Great job need your help my house just bought , your free this weekend 😂
As long as you have beer!👍 🍻 😃
So this is technically detached so doesn’t need permit in my area ? If it is less than 200 square feet . Am I correct ?
Depends on your local building codes.
And it is attached to the house.
amazing work! did you have to put any concrete on the foundation?
It was a block foundation
Thank u! @@MyDIYAdventures
I have a question. I want to add to room to my house. How and where can I get the city permit??. Please.

@@MyDIYAdventures thanks 🙏
Perfect video(s). This is exactly what i need to do. Can you give a ruff estimate of what it cost, materials, labour, time? tks
Oh man, I can’t remember any of that, this was years ago!
What was sticking up through the cylinder blocks, that you put wood on and screwed it down? I like what have seen. Please and thank you for commenting.
Anchor bolts, as the block is getting laid, the bolts get held in place with mortar.
What compressor are you running I thought I seen the handle to the DeWalt cordless
Nope, just the cheap Porter Cable!
Hey how much was material/ any permits Ect. Thanks
I can’t recall, but it wasn’t an expensive addition, and yes it had permits.
Did you need to get a build permit?
Yes, I built this for a contractor and he pulled all the proper permits.
Sweet
How much would it cost material and labor
With the cost of material right now, it’s easily a $20k job
I guess this space won't be heated?
It’s heated, HVAC guys ran a new supply and return off the existing furnace to it.
@@MyDIYAdventures got ya, did anyone insulate under the floor?
Was there a mud room there before that had to be ripped off?
Yeah, there was some type of cobbled-on little porch. This was my first day on the job site, so I don’t know exactly what was there originally before the mason tore everything out and put in the foundation.
Did you pour a footing before block work
I didn’t do the foundation work...but yes, the block is on a poured footer 36” below grade
My DIY Adventures ok and yea I noticed in another comment someone else did it thsnks

good, but you should explain or link all the materials and tools used for this project and have someone recording the video closer
