@@BerkeAvcı-x2g I guess you missed the 25th anniversary update back in November that restored a lot of the CD release features and fixed a bunch of bugs
You sit around at the job and show a coworker a new cooler animation that you did and he was like "yeah looks lit dude let put that in the next update :)"
I feel like most of these weren't design changes, but rather things that got messed up while adapting the game code to run on other operating systems. Some things had to be scaled back so as not to bog down the system, ie missing particle clouds. I imagine the lasers were nearly invisible on older monitors (hence the brightness change). Others like missing/skipping animations were likely timing based so more advanced systems play them too quickly. Did you know that the turning speed in Lego Island is tied to the frames per second? So playing it on anything more advanced than mom's 98' work computer causes you to turn *way* too quickly. I suspect things like the revolver idle is the same issue (which is, tied to clock speed). And these bugs/changes just never got patched back in/out.
the revolver idle anim was an accident, some string was changed that altered the chance of that one specific idle animation to 90~% which made it play most of the time, i also think the gluon cloud was changed for better visibility since half-life deathmatch was a big deal back then, and the hivehand looks like a complete fuck up since the whole model looks a bit weirder, no idle animations at all like the pulsing and throbbing of the hand.
define "other OSs" cuz in my experience, unpatched HL still runs on Win10. Also, the timing statement is irrelevant because you get the same problems regardless of your hardware and framerate cap. These bugs will all play out the same whether i run this game on ryzen or a pentium 2
The energy cloud and color is possible to get back by using cl_lc 0 and cl_lw 0. It seems they broke something when adding lag compensation because it fucks with the Gluon gun. This could have happened around patch 1.1.0.8 (it mentions something about the HLDM weapons getting updated)
It was framerate tied on old version. Framerate fluctuations affect rate of fire. At 30-35 fps the gun shoots faster than at 60 fps. Now the gun shoots consistently.
Here's a version difference for opposing force. There's a known issue with the CD copy protection. I wonder if you’d compare the 1.0.0.6 version with the latest Steam build? They actually managed to fix a few things since 1.1.1.0 last year like the MP5, hive hand, and revolver reload sound.
Necrocommenting here but I noticed also that the boxdragging with Use key also stopped letting you fly off wherever. However you can still bhop, even in Source based games.
The fire rate is determined by the frame rate. While the update probably tampers with the way the engine advances each frame, it hasn't done anything directly to the SMG speed.
Silikone Again, I'm already aware of discrepancies due to varying framerate. You're claiming that the change in the MP5's firerate has nothing to do with a released patch.
Pause at 1:24 when bullet is in the clip now its already loaded WOW ITS SAME AS CSGO now u can quickswitch but thats in the older version in half life i love the cd release
1.0.0.9 is not the first version. 1.0.0.5 is the 1998 version, 1.0.0.9 is the Game of the Year version, with some small changes, like 17 rounds in a mag for the Glock rather than 18 and no mod selector, you have to do -game like Quake. All CD versions of Half-Life are good, but I think 1.0.0.9 is the best, cause it is the first version to include Crossfire, and still has view roll. I would advise against updating your HL or CS CDs.
I never called .9 the 'first' version. Or you could have both the disc and patched versions installed at the same time, as well as the Steam edition (which better supports mods and widescreen, and has 32 Bit color depth).
I have 1.0.0.5, 1.0.0.9, 1.0.1.3, and 1.1.1.0 installed on my PC, the Steam version is trash IMO, they did a very poor job of porting the GoldSRC engine to Steam, and I do not like DRM, so I just stick with the WON version. I was talking more to the people in the comments that were saying that 1.0.0.9 was the first version, and I use an old enough setup that I do not need many of the features that were added in the Steam release such as the widescreen, and I do not download many mods
I got both, but unfortunately, I lately knew that my Steam Version copy was illegal, I don't have Steam, Also I have original HL v1.0, sounds like a prototype for me, but no difference.
Cosmetically, yes it does, M4 was the original thought for the automatic weapon but it got changed VERY early in development. so since M4 was og auto matic and more american it got the cut, and then came back along with a much better looking SPAS-12 (It had the FOLDING STOCK!)
What i see and feel Won version: often has flickering and crude transition due to game rendered differently against the menu. This also applies when pausing Steam version: once you enter game until you dismiss the game, the game will always be rendered
Thats because the game menu was rendered ALWAYS on 640x480 despite what you selected in the video options. So if the game runs at more resolution, when you hit ESC the game switches resolution to 640x480 and when you click continue it switches back to what you selected in options. If you select 640x480 in video options the "crudeness" you mention will be gone because the game doesnt need to switch resolutions every time you pause or continue the game =)
The Gluon gun sound in the files of Steam version is lower pitched compared to what it is in the actual game. Maybe this is why in Half Life Source the Gluon gun is lower pitched than normal. 1.1.1.0's bullet impact is more realistic, since those bullets would definitely go through your body.
I would say that most changes are nit-picky (like the visual changes and animations), so it's more about preference. I'd still stick with the original. Sure it has bugs and they fixed alot of issues in the latest Steam version but who cares about a minor bug that you have a 10% chance to encounter, while you get cool stuff like bobbing and viewroll? Also, most bugs they fixed are bunnyhop limiting and fixing things that are actually to your advantage (in short, making the game slower and harder). Also, why use a MP5 to shoot a few grenades while you can literally kill in seconds, with the retail MP5? I would say that the patches on Steam, actually broke the game instead of fixing it (Most mods don't work). I don't know about you guys but I would prefer my good old copy to "Patched Steam"-Life , anyday.
The 2013 and 2017 steampipe update fixed the mp5 firing rate its more usefull on normal and hard mode than the 2005 & 09 update although i still notice some hick ups but its only minor to be honest.
