I get a lot of questions about my top recommended books, so I recently did a video on books that have changed my life! Some of them have held a space in my heart for years after I first read them: → 6 Books That Changed My Life 📚 | bit.ly/2AHYRZB QUESTION: What are the top books that have changed your life?
I am a 58 (almost 59) year old woman and I just want you to know that I truly admire your videos. You are a positive role model for both men, women of all ages. Keep up the good work!
I pray you reach 1M subscribers this year, am praying for you Aileen. You are such a down to earth, realistic and life changer. your advice on life, is always so helpful and positive. I love you so much.... I just love you, and been here for long, I have become a better person so much, to some extent you have been the reason, I love your videos.
Dear Aileen, you really helped me a lot. I just want to thank you!😊 Can you please make your next video on overcoming any kind of depression? Lot of people (even me) need it
Ananya Kulkarni. Hi Ananya..thats a really important subject..Id also love Aileen to do that..The fact you found this channel means you are finding solutions already. Your body is really key to getting better and stronger...mind body and soul are like a team that need to be in unison together ..no action is too small ..and as you do new things ..they will compound..Keep your body healthy..with good eating..no need to be rigid at all..infact treat yourself to it. Aswell as say..a tasty cake at a cafe...a treat for when you go for a walk outside. Let light in..journal every night to get rid of anything you are holding in your mind and practise noting what. You have..this is incredible to ward off that depressing path..once your mind learns this it will be automatic and less forced..also pampering routine help..at first you might start with abit from each thing..it will build up..and will be easier to take those small actions again and again..Sending you love and courage💕💚💕
I suffer from anxiety and I'll tell you the principal that I have been told to follow! It's "Take one day at a time!" Don't think about anything else but your present, it's difficult but it just requires time to get used to it!! Also don't ignore your negative thoughts, instead turn them into positive ones!! Lots of Love!!😘😘
Listen to my podcast: The Lavendaire Lifestyle! I’ve had multiple guests on talk about overcoming depression. I’d look up the episodes: LL 058 Healing from Depression with Veronica Krestow, and LL 055 with Nate Proctor. There are more but that’s a good place to start :)
love you Aileen!!! your words inspire me a lot !! thank you so much!! one request ... can you please create a video on happiness i mean how to be happy !! please because many of us really need it !
I’m reading Sapiens right now (about half way through) and it has blown my mind, I think it’s one of the best books I’ve read in recent years. I’ve got a biomedical sciences background so that side of things is already fascinating to me, but he blends evolutionary science with history and sociology and draws parallels with modern life... it’s been eye opening. I’ve been recommending it to all my friends 😊 I look forward to hearing what you think of it x
i am so happy, i am glad as a BookTuber that you make BookTube videos like me.. This is amazing. Thank you for promoting reading in our world. i love you.
Thanks for the recommendations, Aileen! I’m actually considering getting a subscription for audible because I feel the same way about podcasts! The drive home is so great when listening to a ~good~ podcast because I feel so productive, so I’m def thinking about listening to audio books
I highly recommend Sapiens. I listened to it on Audible and I’m looking forward to listening to it again. There is so much interesting information, I learned a lot on humankind
Thank you my dear. I just added your book recommendations to my 2018 reading list & beyond. I do hope you'll be able to update as the month goes on. I'm challenging myself to read 2 books a month so I have about 40 or so on my list. Thanks you for sharing :)
I read Sapiens in italian and I highly recommend that! It talks about important concepts such as the history of our society but it is written in a simple and straight way. It really opened my eyes 👁💚
I subscribed to you a couple of hours ago and here you are, talking about my number one hobby 😊 I love books! I've been meaning to read some motivational books for a while, so this video is exactly what I needed 😊
Laurie Lo It's impossible to pick just one! :) I read many different genres and it's very hard to compare, say, classics and young adult. If I had to pick one, maybe it would be either Rotherweird or The Forgotten Beasts of Eld (both fantasy novels). What about you? 😊
It's also very hard! I have been trying to make a top 10 but I'd have to say probably The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown for personal growth, Born a Crime by Trevor Noah for biographies and The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas for novels!! :) I really can't narrow it down more than that 😇
In the Company of Women is very inspiring and it's visually beautiful! I love having it on my coffee table and seeing people flip through it and read these women's powerful stories!
You have no idea what you meant to me.. In the past couple of months I was feeling empty, failure and hopeless. Literally you have saved my life. You are my role model I have her met. Sending you Love from Lebanon.
I'm so happy you know Cyrus! I'm French and love both of your channels :) Definitely gonna check Sapiens. Right now I'm re-reading The Power of Now and this time I'll take notes to really work on my consciousness 😊
Another book I'd recommend is The Upside of Stress by Kelly Mcgonigal! She has some really interesting anecdotes on the way we view stress and how to make them work for us. Also another tip: If you're not sure if you'd like an author's book/their writing style, watch their TedTalk/interview videos before buying (I'm sure most of them will have it somewhere!) to get a sense of who they are. That has helped me tremendously in understanding their perspectives and fully immerse myself in the reading experience by "hearing" them narrate the physical book I have in my hand :)
I am not sure whether I knew about your channel searching for Marie Kondo or I knew her through you. In any case I am so happy to follow you and found great inspiration in all the books you suggested and that I then actually read. Thank you so much!
You'll love Light is the New Black so much! Glad to hear you've been enjoying it so far, it's right up your street! Thanks for all the recommendations x
One of my favorite books of all time is Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch. I consider any book that contains timeless wisdom a classic. This book totally blew my mind and changed my outlook on life. Give it a try or check it out from your local library whenever you get the chance.
Hi! I just wanna say thank you for inspiring me! I started this year with Artist of Life Journal and it makes me feel more focused and driven! Im so glad to find you on TH-cam!
Definitely listen to The Untethered Soul! I’ve met Michael Singer and talked to him. He has such an energy about him that really comes out in his voice. Enjoy the book! Very eye opening. It does start to drag about halfway through though.
You would probably enjoy Neale Donald Walsch's Conversations With God series and E-Squared by Pam Grout if you haven't already read them but they are some of my favourite self-help/personal developement books. Marissa Peers and Jack Canfield are such great speakers too :)
One of my favorite books that I would recommend is Writing Down The Bones by Natalie Goldberg. I've read it multiple times and doubt I'll ever stop reading it! So much to learn from it!
I love you so much more than I can express in words. May the happiness grow at every part of your life. 💙 Btw incredible list and I already downloaded the slight edge. I'm sure I will like it so really thanks a lot!
Thanks so much for recommending 'The Slight Edge' and 'The Storytellers Secret' -I've just added them both to my TBR list!!! In terms of book recommendations, I really want to read 'How to Be an Overnight Success' by Maria Hatzistefanis and 'Chromatic Algorithms' by Carolyn Kane which looks at the history of colour in video art, digital art, bio-art etc......btw I love the currently reading/book review type videos on Lavendaire....Keep It Up!!
Omg I needed this! For some reason i'm having such a hard time sticking to a book and finishing it. I'll definitely try some of these books! :) Thanks Aileen xoxo
You are inspiring!!!!✨✨✨ I love to see you when I have a moment to be quiet so I can dedicate full attention to your videos. Your work is beautiful and very motivating!!!!💕✨
I have had "The Life Changing Manga of Tidying Up" on my reading list for so long now! I have heard such good things, can't wait to head to the bookstore to pick it up :) I would love to do more reading this year. As a university student my reading time is often taken up by textbooks, and i don't get to read what i want to! Thanks so much for all of these great book recommendations :) xo
Hey Anxious Watermelon! I don't know if you actually have anxiety as your screen name suggest but if you do, I read a book last year that helped a so much with my own anxiety. It's called the Worry Trick by David A. Carbonell!
Loved this list! I just finished listening to Big Magic based on your recommendation and I absolutely loved it. So inspiring for people who want to live a more creative life. thank you!
hi i'm glad i found your channel. I need to read the magic of tidying up i have really got back into reading over the last year. I mean i've always loved reading but have been reading a lot more lately
Thank you for sharing your journey of progress, you are inspirational. I'm currently reading girl boss that you've recommended before and planning to have a reading list of all your recommendations ❤️❤️
thank you thank you thank you for this video @Lavendaire !!! I've been watching your videos from the beginning & its clear that you put so much time and effort into them. I've planned to read at least one book cover to cover every month this year and now I have a list of great reads to consult. Your vids always inspire me. Keep shining your light to the world. :)
Thank you so much Lavendaire for sharing with us such a wonderful books list. I have just download the Success principles of my phone and I'm enjoying it already ! Your videos are amazing. keep it up :)
I know you mentioned Bréne Brown, but you will love her latest book Braving the Wilderness. The first chapter particularly I found so powerful that it made me cry! Thanks for the great content as ever, Aileen, and have a great day! 😃
Hi, i wanna say how much i like your channel, it makes feel good and makes me want to build a better life for myself and my beloved ones. Can you do more videos about audiobooks? Like apps, tips and books. Thank you!
Aw thanks! Check out my BOOKS playlist in the description - I always share about my favorite books & audiobooks at the moment in my monthly favorites videos
I love seeing what other people are reading. I'm always excited when I see a notification for your videos. I really enjoyed this and I'm excited to check out a few new books 📚😊
A book that I’m currently reading that I really recommend is “the art of joy” with the Dailai Lama and Desmond Tutu. It’s really deep and easy to read.
Just watched your packing tips video (because I needed it 😄) and immediately subscribed to your channel! You're so inspiring and I love your positive vibe 💖
Sapiens is a fantastic book! It took me a year to read it (I read other books in between) because it's quite a dense academic book. By spreading it through the year I read a chapter when I felt like it instead of making it a chore to finish the book in one go. I saw there is an audiobook version of it so maybe that would make it a lighter read.
Thank you for the books! I definitely love War of Art, Marie Forleo, and just did a deep dive clean with the KonMari method:) Was wondering how you and others decide what to read on Audible vs. hard copy?
I discovered Lisa Nichols resently and she has a book out Abundance now on Audio. The neuroscience of self discipline is a great one too. I just started another book on nlp( neurolinguistic programing). I have that jack Canfield book. I normally use it as a reference since there is so much..it's like a success bible.
I recommend The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz (so lifechanging I read it every year and I always learn something new) and also The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone, but I've seen you have that in your wish list already ;)
I can’t wait for you to read In the Company of Women; I think you’ll really enjoy it! I loved it so much and it was incredibly inspiring!! The way you described it was exactly how I felt. I HIGHLY recommend the books Behind the Beautiful Forevers and Just Mercy. They are so moving and real and eye opening. They aren’t explicitly about self help but I do think they can change your life and they’re fascinating.
Oh my God thank you to shoot the "Life Changing Manga of Tidying Up"! I have been trying to order Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up in my local bookstore, and they always sold out. Now I will order both on Book Depository because my local bookstore won't have the manga. Thanks! :D
wow, some really interesting books you showed there. I have to say the content of the advice you give and the knowledge you share is very valuable. One that really sticks with me.
Shift Happens - Robert Holden (I bought the book and it's a quick read but I wanted the audiobook as well, because the author's voice is very soothing... I got on sale on the publisher's website for like $5) Loveability - Robert Holden (same deal, $5 audiobook) 5 Levels of Attachment - Don Miguel Ruiz Jr. The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire - Deepak Chopra ( @Lavendaire THIS ONE IS SO GOOD ) WARRIOR GODDESS TRAINING - Heatherash Amara (also a REALLLLLLY GOOD ONE)
Hi Aileen! I’ve read a few books you’ve mentioned and I’m sure to read more. The book that I first read that really inspired me is called “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R. Covey. I seriously recommend it! Love his video by the way!
Thank you so much for being such a role model for me Aileen!!! Your videos always feels so refreshing to me, i just love u so much 💕 Sending so much love from the Philippines 😚😄
Even though the self-growth world is "small" (after all!), I always find something new in your videos! What about your own book? Do you have any progress? Have you updated us and I missed it? (sorry if you have!)
I just found out your channel and i really love it! You're so cool and talk really simple and efective 😊 i'm going to aply some of your tecniques in my life. Thanks 🙏
The Celestine Prophesy.....I stumbled upon it and it is one of my all time favorites! It also talks about the 4 characteristics of man. it is spiritual as well as psychological and is along the lines of The Secret and Law of Attraction. ..I read The Slight Edge and gave it to all 3 of my kids. ...my middle boy loved it and said it was the only full book he's read since high school. ..Lucky me too have such good kids! Thanks for the recommendations!
Great recommendations, some are already on my reading list. I just finished Sapiens about a week ago. It's a very inspiring book which tells about the history of humans. Definitely a recommended must-read. Else I'd recommend the novel "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini and the biography of Elon Musk (if you are into this kind of books).
I actually work at Walt Disney World in Orlando, and the Lee Cockerell books are gospel to me. They’ve helped my leadership skills a lot! If having a Disney-fied perspective on success interests you, there’s another great one by Ed Catmull called Creativity, Inc. that’s another great read!
oh my gosh Aileen, I love this video so so much!!! I love reading a lot and have been searching for more self-help books so this was perfect! your channel is such a dream :')
I go thrift shopping once in a while and found most of the books from your reading lists which include: rich dad, poor dad; the four agreements; eat, pray, love; the 7 habits of highly effective people; the secret; principle-centered leadership; the millionaire next door; the courage to be rich; pitch like a girl; think and grow rich; etc. Each book was a $1 or $2.
Thanks for the recommendations! am totally gonna read some of the books. you should definitely read any books by Mitch Albom especially Tuesdays With Morrie!
I get a lot of questions about my top recommended books, so I recently did a video on books that have changed my life! Some of them have held a space in my heart for years after I first read them:

This is the earliest I’ve been considering my time zone- I’m so happy, can’t wait to read some of these!
I LOVED reading the Slight Edge. It was a book that I don't even know what caused me to pick it up, but it was such a good read.
I highly recommend Sapiens. I listened to it on Audible and I’m looking forward to listening to it again. There is so much interesting information, I learned a lot on humankind

That’s so great!
I'm really loving Stoicism as a form of self help, the letters to Lucillius by Seneca are amazing!!
i've heard great things about these too!
Marci Shimoff-Happy for No Reason. I got the physical copy and on Audible. Great book!
I love books too! I read 100 last year :) Books can be very life transforming!!
Laurie Lo Oooh I wish I'd read 100 too! I only made it to 81 (my goal was 100 😊).
81 is a lot! Which one was your favorite? :)
:) I really can't narrow it down more than that 😇
the defining decade is one of my favourite books ever!
Thanks!
I love the SLIGHT EDGE! I actually picked up the book and finished it, really change my life and lifestyle! Consistency is the key!
In the Company of Women is very inspiring and it's visually beautiful! I love having it on my coffee table and seeing people flip through it and read these women's powerful stories!
Amazing recommendations! I have listened to The Power of Vulnerability, and it changed my life!
I LOVE THE SLIGHT EDGE, THAT BOOK CHANGED MY LIFE!
DITTO ❤️
I'm not even an artist but reading The War of Art has changed my view on almost everything I do. It was eye-opening, I recommend it to everyone I know
You have no idea what you meant to me..
Thanks for this!!
I also wanted to let you know - I love your audio set up! I always feel like we're in the same room whenever I play your videos :)
I've added reading more as one of my resolutions for this year and I had to check out your list! Finally started reading KonMari's book 😊😍

Thanks you for these recommendations. The War of Art has already had a big impact on me... one I will listen to over and over again x

Ah thank you for the recs!!
Oh my God thank you to shoot the "Life Changing Manga of Tidying Up"! I have been trying to order Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up in my local bookstore, and they always sold out. Now I will order both on Book Depository because my local bookstore won't have the manga. Thanks! :D
Thank you for this recs! I added some of them to my audiobook list^^
wow, some really interesting books you showed there. I have to say the content of the advice you give and the knowledge you share is very valuable. One that really sticks with me.

Shift Happens - Robert Holden (I bought the book and it's a quick read but I wanted the audiobook as well, because the author's voice is very soothing... I got on sale on the publisher's website for like $5)
Loveability - Robert Holden (same deal, $5 audiobook)
5 Levels of Attachment - Don Miguel Ruiz Jr.
The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire - Deepak Chopra ( @Lavendaire THIS ONE IS SO GOOD )
WARRIOR GODDESS TRAINING - Heatherash Amara (also a REALLLLLLY GOOD ONE)

So happy you upload so often!! Thank you!
Aww thank you love
Even though the self-growth world is "small" (after all!), I always find something new in your videos! What about your own book? Do you have any progress? Have you updated us and I missed it? (sorry if you have!)
Gonna reshift my duties this year and make more time for the book :)
I just found out your channel and i really love it! You're so cool and talk really simple and efective 😊 i'm going to aply some of your tecniques in my life. Thanks 🙏
Sapiens is supposed to be great! I’ve heard a ton of people recommend it. I’m gonna read it this year as well.
Interesting!
Great recommendations, some are already on my reading list.
I just finished Sapiens about a week ago. It's a very inspiring book which tells about the history of humans. Definitely a recommended must-read. Else I'd recommend the novel "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini and the biography of Elon Musk (if you are into this kind of books).
thanks for sharing these books, I'm going to write it as a plan for this year!! have a wonderful weekend
definitely gonna try to read more this year, thanks for the recommendations!!!
The book I'm reading at the moment is Tony Robbins - Awaken the Giant Within. Really good so far!
Thanks for sharing this inspirational video! I'm currently reading imperfections by Brene Brown. I would recommend any of her books. Be well. 😁
I would strongly recommend The Big Leap, it is about overcoming your self limitation in life and reach your zone of genius in life.
I love your positive and inspirational mindset ❤️
oh my gosh Aileen, I love this video so so much!!!
I love reading a lot and have been searching for more self-help books so this was perfect! your channel is such a dream :')
Love your channel! It has such a calm vibe and makes me feel inspired to fulfill my goals and everything! Thank you:) you are amazing
Thank you for this! Such a huge fan of your channel. Love these recommendations. I am currently listening to "Big Magic" and also highly recommend it!
Annie Jiang classic, one of my favourites 👌 "learn to die to learn to live"
