Man, I have to say, I haven’t commented on a TH-cam video in many months, but what you do here is absolutely phenomenal. Your ability to do this, and your inclination to go to the trouble of doing it and posting it despite the guarantee of not receiving even a fraction of the credit or recognition you deserve is both incredible and very fortunate for the rest of us. You have a gift, and it’s a great privilege that you choose to share it with your community. I have no idea to what degree you take requests, if you do at all, and my previous words weren’t said with the hope that it would persuade you to take mine, but it would be amazing if you could do Elton’s 2001 Ephesus performance of Philadelphia Freedom. Either way, thank you, and I look forward to your future projects.
Many thanks! It's actually a bit tough for me to do the sheet music because I do suffer from slight hearing loss from listening to music too loudly in my younger years, but who doesn't lol. But it's fun, and I'm a massive fan of Elton's style of playing. There are no resources out there, apart from 1 songbook that only had 10 or so songs in it, that actually shows what he is playing. All the other "official" sheet music out there is very off. Nobody plays piano like Elton, so that's always been a stickler for me trying to find sheet music but having none that is accurate. This particular video wasn't transcribed by me but actually Glenn Breed who ran a website in the early 2000's called EltonsCafe. The website has been abandoned since around 2007 or 2008, and Glenn hasn't released any new transcriptions since. So now that he's gone I use my rudimentary understanding of sheet music that I learned with high school band and do the sheet music myself. As far as money goes I'm not really in it for the money but the fun of making the sheet music. On the pieces that I transcribe I only receive 10% of each sale price. And I believe the lowest it will let me offer some songs is $4, which is $0.40 per sale. I'm actually a big fan of the Philadelphia Freedom version from Ephesus and had planned to do it. At the current rate that my "to-do" list is at, it's going to be about 2 years before I can transcribe it, but I'll make sure to get it done. I'm currently working my way through Burn Down The Mission from the live album 17-11-70. You can check out that here: th-cam.com/video/hLygBgIUsgY/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching, and have a great day!
That is a pretty great question. I started playing by ear with Your Song, but that features a lot of chords. In terms of overall complexity and minimal chord changes I would have to say the studio recording of Candle In The Wind is pretty simple as is Talking Old Soldiers. A lot of Elton's songs feature many more chords than you would typically find in guitar oriented music which are typically confined to 3-4 chords max. He also tends to utilize different key signatures in many of his songs. It makes learning the way he plays much more interesting and rewarding in the long run, but learning how to play exactly like Elton is very hard as you can probably see by many of the live piano transcriptions I have here on the channel. I think Glenn Breed of Elton's Cafe said it best, "It's not hard to play and sound like Elton, but playing exactly like him is hard."
Sorry, as said in other videos. I only transcribe piano-only songs/performances. This was made by Glenn Breed, not myself, which is why it's a full band orchestration. I also tend to not "redo" songs that I already have transcriptions for. It's ultimately pointless apart from tempo changes or certain riffs here-and-there. I already have a Bennie and The Jets transcription available, which was also created by Glenn if you're interested.
Sheet music available for free, here: eltonscafe.net/Songs/SomeoneSavedMyLife.htm
Found your channel while looking for covers of Elton’s songs and I must say yours are my favourite!
May your channel never die. Another gem popping at 1 am here.
Esto vale oro para quien sabe apreciarlo

what do you think is the easiest elton song to learn on piano?

Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word is not that hard, you should take a look
Can you do Bennie and the jets 1995 live in rio?

Excellent. you should do Elton's pinball wizard
If I could find a solo performance besides Moscow 79, I'd love to. Only problem with the Moscow performance is that it's not the entire song.
Hey what about I feel like a bullet in the gun of robert ford
That is actually coming up next after Burn Down The Mission :)
