its 2021 and I still want to own this masterpiece someday.
it is the most beautiful modern muscle car and very powerful
these camaro guys gotta accept the fact that who cares that the camaro handles a bit better....The gt500 looks cooler, is a touch quicker and overall faster:):):)
And u can make some adjustments on that gt500 to handle just as well
@@justinalderton7485 NICE...Good to know !! Thanks, man :):)
@@davidgeerling9871 check out bmr suspension. They have some good stuff
@@justinalderton7485 Cool !! I don't actually own one, but still good to know !! Thanks again :):)
At the time it had the most powerfull american production V8
and how people say it's bad cornering car and she did 1:38????????????
I could listen to that engine soundtrack for hours. Perfect notes!
i look forward to these videos like no other. I'm still young and hope to one day have a true driver's car. But until then these videos satisfy my deep desire. Thank you Motor Trend.
Man I love this car! The ZL1 too! I wish Dodge/SRT would make a Challenger to compete with these 2 as well
What makes people shy away from the gt500 in some cases is the opinions of reviewers and road testers. Not saying they are ignorant or anything. But when you compare times, numbers, speeds, prices, HP ratings, 0-60 times (3.5-3.7 secs for gt500 btw) the GT500 is a really great bang for buck car. Don't get me wrong, it's not perfect, but it will outrun many things both on a track or on a strip and vice versa. But pound for pound, Ford hit jackpot on this Cobra and they deserve the respect.
That acceleration sound reminds me of Bullitt`s mustang... awesome sound!
It's 2023 and I finally bought my 2013 Gt500.
how’s it been
@@Top_Gear_Clips_Central amazing. I'll be buried in this car lol
@@PedrettiRacing wow it’s really good then isn’t it 😂
@Top_Gear_Clips_Central honestly, I'm happy with it. All around great car. Definitely not a track handling car lol. More for the straights.
This is my favorite car of all and it's well priced even with options for what your getting. It's just soooo cool to me. :D
I need that in my life
Yeah, I realize they changed a bit on the new GT500. I was referring to the fact that a stock GT500 ran a 94.3 around Streets of Willow, & the GT Super Snake ran a 94.5 around the same circuit. The regular Camaro SS ran a 95.8, then the Hennessey HP650 ran a 91.0. Also, it was remarked through the write up that the snake was completely overwhelming it's tires.
It's not how fast you're getting there, it's how big a smile you have getting there
His speed in the corkscrew was amazing. I hope i own one of these one day........
Did you end up getting one ?
The 3.5s 0-60 of the Shelby is pretty much the definition of "quick". Your CRX can't possibly be quicker.
And since you didn't believe me, I just went outside with my camera and walked around my Pontiac G8 and took a clip just for you! (on my channel since I can't link it)
hey motor trend, try changing the brake fluid in the car. If your still having braking issues with the Shelby. I've heard and seen many of the new Shelby owners changing the brake fluid when they race on track. And they say it improved after changing it to one of Brembo's brake fluid, not quite sure which it was that they used, but it really improved they braking points, and lap times.
1:38 is still very fast mind you. I love the GT500 and the lambo
The sound is just enough for the video
Notice the smile on his face when he is driving the GT500 and the Subaru, and notice the absence of a smile when driving the GTR and Aventador. A true drivers car will put a smile of your face, not just go fast.
That beautiful beast on bags (performance purposes) would cut through those corners so flawlessly
For the past 7 years ive been bashed on for being a Mustang fan, thanks Ford for coming out with one of the baddest Ponys ever!! Noone is laughing at you now are they..... in fact im lol @ the expensive German cars. All though VW will always have a spocial spot in my heart....
Awesome car! Love the look & sound!
This car is awesome and I have one in my garage along with several other cars. One being a McLaren MP4-12C.
Before you guys call bullshit... I work and valet at a parking garage. I drove the GT500 today and was shock and now I want one NOWWWWWWWW.
ppl need to stop hating on this car. its just a matter of whether you want performance or refinement. i personally want refinement and driver feel so this isnt my type of car but it shouldnt be denied what it is because its been made with different goals in place
It's pretty awesome that we live in an age where Mustang's and Camaro's are beating Porsches around a track.
what an amazing machine to this day.
sounds great. wonder why ppl hate on this car so much 60k, 660hp & solid axle vs. fancy electronics, magnetic suspension, awd & mr etc. cars and still beating or hanging with 'em is great in my book guess haters gonna hate
''Yeah ,down ,boy ,SIT ,SIT !!!!!'' hahahahahahaha
Both cars are amazing .
Is MotorTrend reusing the old lap times? If not, then this thing is extremely consistent.
The GT500 is one ferocious beast.
One of the best looking and fastest Mustangs even IMO. I wish I could have one.
yes I totally agree, I was out of line with my comments but I was really pissed off, sometimes people say things without thinking, I need to work on controlling my anger, but one thing is for sure everyone is entitled to their own opinion and whether you like or hate a persons comment, you have to respect it if you know nothing about that persons past
Yes! This is what a car should be like! Ford IS awesome
I'm sorry, but did the GT500 get a better lap time than the 911 Carrera S?
اخيراً رجعت المكاين القديمه ياسلق
One of my dream cars.
Same power to weight ratio as a 911 GT3RS that my friend wants.
the roar of the mustang...just....oh god yesss
greatest car ive ever owned...its an underdog in this arena and it beat the zl1...wow
yes agreed. And yes i am very thankful to have a Lotus. And i guess it depends on your preference. Some people are into muscle cars, others into track, etc. As you can tell from my Lotus i am not very into HP and 0 to 60 times, mines for the trill of the driving and handling and occasional drifting. Thats just me. And i dont know why but i have never been into American cars. It may sound ignorant but i think they are all about HP and who can go the fastest in a straight line
They do Loafy23, as you know the mustang is and has been very upgradeable through the years. You can upgrade over 90% of the car and etch ever so closely to the top of the heap.
Love this car. I know it may not be the best drivers car but it looks damn sexy and sounds like a beast ;) Pobst comments on all the cars sound spot on with what most people are saying about the cars performance.
agreed on everything there. I just hate the fact that people say its a bad car and its not even a sports car just because it has low horsepower. Horsepower isnt everything. I love the drivers car aspect of this vehicle.
So true. I personally like both the more sophisticated and balanced Camaro as well as the all-around wild GT500. Both great cars for a very small prize, for what you get. I could ever hate a muscle car, Ford, Chevy or Mopar.
Anyone know what the regular 2012 Boss 302 runs @ Laguna Seca??? (not the Laguna Seca edition)
YESSSS SMOKED THAT CRAP JAGUAR!!! YESSS!!!! so far i am enjoying this 2012 best drivers competition.
such a nice car... i left it paused at 00:41 just looking at it lol
If you look at the test they did with the Super Snake vs. the Hennesey Camaro the Super snake was completely out handled in terms of lateral acceleration, Figure Eight & actual lap times. The pro driver remarked how he would literally have to wait coming out of corners because if he accelerated there wasn't enough tire to grip.
Lap times so far:
Jag - 1.429
BRZ-1.513
Lambo - 1.350
911 - 1.393
GT500 - 1.387
GTR - 1.363
The video you linked to is the Carrera S Cabriolet. It's more expensive. The one being tested in this contest has a base price of just over $97k.
Thank you so much!
beutiful car and color
You can tell he's seriously going quick!
Ι love the colour-rim combination !!! Makes it look like a car version of an Oreo biscuit pack ! Lol !!!
For Everyone that comments about the Brakes, Please Learn A Thing Or 2 Before U Comment! Ford specifies in its hand book that if you intend to track the Car you will need to change the Brake Fluid to the recommended Fluid. Those that have changed the fluid have found the brakes are a night and day difference from the street fluid and minimal fade under braking. Likely, there has been no changes to the brakes in these tests since I see no comments to suggest it? Surprising since its labele
That car has a lot of life to it.
the benz did it in 1:38.9.it has 510 hp,and 457 tq.so its down on hp,but ran a better time than the zl1.whats your point?
thank you, not going to lie tho, the new stingray looks badass
Reviews usually show base price, and maybe fully loaded price. Price as tested is referring to price of their tester with the level of options it has.
The heat-soak occurred in a Z that add aftermarket parts put on it.
Not a stock one.
Check out MT's comparison of the GT and Z to see what I'm talking about as far as being consistent goes.
You're not the only one who feels that way.
Randy Pobst said a "rear" brake upgrade is all the mustang would need. I know its aftermarket. And I think on this track you can use the 7000 rpm redline V8 power in ceartain sections of Laguna Seca to shave even more sec...The Shelby is BANG for the BUCK. No doubt.
I am a Camaro guy, but, damn this thing is a Beast!
Sounds amazing!
you have the reason in one think...the shape of a Lamborghini is gorgeous close to the Shelby, but you can´t deny Ford have a lot of performance and price - tag as you say, in fact is a good platform for tune up like the GTR, may be they don´t have the look, but this kind of cars rules everywhere.
i got a feeling brz will take the cake for this award
Notice how the Super Snake ran SLOWER times than the stock GT500 in the MT tests & what the drivers said about it's driving characteristics. Also notice how in this test, the GT500 also runs slower times than it's competitor despite having an easy 80hp advantage.
Love the hotlaps. Lets hear Randy's analysis after the drive.
Looks very good..I am just wondering how the motor lineup is going to be...I think a lot of vette fans are wondering if the new vette is going to be slower than their current Z06/ZR1s (kind of funny).
I don't care what people say. Its a heavy, bloaty, solid-rear axle pony car with a bunch of horsepower and torque. Hell, its supercharger displaces more than the engine in some of these cars test. Yet it posted the 3rd fastest time in 2 day and 6 cars worth of testing. The only things beating it are AWD 'wonder cars' with more computer controlled this and electronic that. This a drag car you can track, and that is damn fine accomplishment. Way to Go Ford and Shelby!
i think this will win the award...
Confirmed..my 's13 GT500 has experienced ZERO brake fad at a recent trackday. The only mod was a change to the appropriate brake fluid which I do to all my cars when doing trackdays (plus taping everything up as required by the track). No issues whatsoever. There were a couple of ZL1s at the track which could not keep from puking their fluids though (heat soaked and hurting).
Which brake fluid did you use and does the gt500 also the the brake fluid together with the clutch. Old topic but I am looking for a GT500
THE SHELBY GT500 is the best drift car.All the MUSTANGS are good drifters.
im foreva a gm man, but god damn im in love with horses now, that will be my next purchase, camaro just cant compete
He smiled once near the end of the lap. He didn't smile or talk in the Aventador because of how easy it is to drive. If a car requires all a drivers attention, you will see it when he is driver. The car will squirm and the driver will adjust the steering wheel a lot.
They should make the last model year gt500 with a Boss 302 suspension setup.
You can do that, but then that would be a modded ZL1. What would happen if you mod the GT500 but give it an independent rear suspension?? It would be even quicker around a track than it currently is.
im on ur side when u said u have a Subaru hahahahah and then i saw the other guy talking about his Honda hahah
is there a difference between UK and US horsepower? because 662bhp seems odd in a car called the 500, does it have 500 UK horsepower?
fair enough, I respect your opinion.
the Shelby has 6 piston brembo break that stops from 60-0 in 101ft so they are very amazing but the problem is heat if the GT500 has cooling ducts it would do more than one lap and will make faster times around tracks
Love the sound!!!
Think you are right !! The engine needs more RPM to really develop a nice note, like a Corvette
What model year was that GT500 and GT500 super snake?
@blackhoodedkid you are right about the power between the stang & the gtr but look at the price difference..
Of course it does. With 80hp+ advantage. It better. It's narrow victories have been mentioned more as raw hp win than chassis, they even commented that this was about the limit (if not more) than the current body can handle.
Understeer would be the car feeling like it's plowing through a turn. Imagine you turn the wheel and it doesn't turn as sharply as you expect it to. Oversteer means it turns more than you want it to. The most common form of oversteer (in a rear wheel drive car) is the rear wheels losing grip from too much throttle while turning - aka giving it too much gas through a corner. Professional drifting is all about controlled oversteer. I hope that helps.
I love the Shelby GT500 more then I could any car.
It isn't about the price. It's about the cars and a fair comparisson. Those who care about he price are the ones who can't afford it, say... 99% of youtube.
Where did you get that I thought the IRS or MRS were shitty? I never said that, I was more referring to the fact that ford's "dated" chassis were more than enough to keep up with/beat the zl1. Now I'll tell you where that extra weight in the 'maro came from; the engine, and suspension system (that is a guess, I don't know for a fact, but that weight comes from something.) even then the shelby was fully loaded so its weight might have been close too.
as of right now the msrp of a fully optioned gt500 is 68,500$. next year most gt500s will sell for the msrp but right now they are in such high demand that dealers are marking prices up 10-20k just because they can, if you preordered one you would have gotten it for under 70k even fully optioned...same thing happend when the 2010 camaro ss came out dealers marked prices up 5-10 k
great video
looking back at this video in 2021 there is something every interesting......
in this video they talked about how the 2013 GT500 had "untold hours of tuning on the Nurburgring" and how "it was designed to win more than just drag races"
yet when the 2021 NEW GT500 was released every automotive journalist calmed that it was not like the 2013/14 GT500 which was just a sledge hammer for gong in a straight line(drag racing)
It's called marketing which basically means they tell consumers what consumers want to hear.
Hes not sick of the Mustang... He loves it. Hes just sick of the shotty brakes.
Well, for reference, the spec miata record for laguna seca is just over 7 seconds slower.
Doesn't make it sound so impressive when you put it that way I guess.
Am amazed the Shelby got a faster lap time than the Porsche Carrea S thats pretty good, American cars have said to be pretty good in a straight line but not as competent on the corners am really impressed...Kudos to Ford (wish they sold em in the UK)
That blown-up GT500 was making way above 1500BHP.
It lived at 850Wheel HP when last on a dyno, so the modders took the next step: go for broke.
The only way you can blow up a GT500 with Manly rods & Mahle Pistons is to go way above 1200-1500 BHP.
Manley rods dont give up only only 850RWHP.
lol at the guy who comments on a car video, when he doesn't have a car
