P&S means Perera & Sons they have been around over a Century, maybe close to two. This is evocative of my Childhood. I’m in my fifties. I remember how my Grandma used to buy stuff from P&S back in the day. Hotel Raheema is right opposite my school. We used to eat there as teenagers in the 80s. Although, I live in Australia for quite some time. It’s very nice to see the streets of Colombo. Remarkable Content. Hope to see more. Thank you! Enjoy… 😊😊😊😊
I think there are better places than P&S now. I went to the same school as you (you mean Royal not Thurston right?) Lived in Pedris road for a while and haunted the same joints as you probably. Went out with a couple of girls from Ladies College as well. Wonder what they are like these days and whether our guys are still dating them. Been out of the country for 40 years wonder why I wasted all this time away from this beautiful place.
Lord Simon, Keep giving people this amazing culinary work and fabulous content. And keep being my inspiration in the kitchen, and for being a world-class foodie. I'm curious to know what made you move to Sri Lanka full time? -Team Simon Bellyful
Sir Boom thanks as always for ya support. I have always liked SL and been over a few times in recent years. Love the food of course. Really a break from the Middle East and a chance to show the kids a different side of life. I think we will be here a year and then move on. Hope ya well brother.
@simonbellyfull Brother, I appreciate the response and wish you and your a wonderful traveling and culinary experience. Keep these videos coming. Cheers! -Team Simon Bellyful
When ever you travel outstations take a train from Colombo to Makubura ( multi transport station ) , just get down & go for lunch or dinner ( there are many good restaurants , just walking steps from the station ) then you can travel to manny parts of the country by train or bus from there.... that's one of the best ways traveling in SL.
Hey Simon thought you may be interested in this as you are travelling around with the family. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country and if I have to select one country to live I will select Sri Lanka. Safety is the first criterion I check especially as an expat thinking of relocating . The crime rate and the murder rate as expats are the first to be targeted as they are naive about the environment. Lot of expats who retired to the Caribbean have been murdered as criminals know they are soft targets and have wealth. Lot of people don't even think of this criterion moving to another country. Costa Rica is ranked 42 for crime and Sri Lanka are ranked 87 for crime in 2023. Costa Rica's murder rate is 12 per 100,000 people and going up. Srilanka is low at 3.43 per 100,000 people or lower now. Jamaica is 53 per 100,000 people and lot of Brits want to retire there! By the way USA and UK , New Zealand , Australia and Canada crime ratings are 55 , 65, 74, 76 and 81 respectively so it is much safer to live in Sri Lanka than even Canada. With the new government with zero tolerance for corruption it will become even safer and a lot of foreign investment will now come in. The word Serendipity came into the English language from Srilanka which was known in the ancient times as Serendib or Serendip. It is discovering unexpected wonderful things around every corner.
