Yep! Use to work in automotive detailing and found this out myself on the last gen sonatas. On the last gen it was in the lower central circle of the logo, and its a little button that's flush with the paint. Its a neat way to hide the button!
I'm still the first person I've seen in the California Bay Area owning or even driving a 2020 Sonata. It's a great car and Doug didn't mention a few things that are interesting: 1) If the car is locked, you press the lock button on the fob and then press and hold the "hold" button until the light on your car or the fob flashes once, you have remote start. 2) In the infotainment you can create a custom drive mode for yourself, so if you like a sport mode steering with normal mode driving then you can do that. 3) He mentioned the trunk button on the upper part of the H on the back but the smart trunk works if the car is locked, you walk to the back, the car beeps 4 times, and the trunk opens. The car ISN'T unlocked, it's still locked. But if you have the car unlocked then you have to use the button. 4) The seats are a bit hard but you get a premium cloth material that seems ti have a bit of a lotus affect in which water doesn't immediately absorb into it, giving you a chance to clean it. 5) The car as adaptive cruise control with a button on the steering wheel where it steers the car for you. You DON'T NEED to be in cruise control to use this, you can simply press the button, have the car steer itself while you manage the pedals. Perfect for breakfast on the go. I do agree that the trunk needs a little hand grip placement thing, my gf's 2020 Elantra has one inside, idk why I didn't get one :/. Great car overall.

Certain crossovers are good enough for little fun. Crossovers that has height less than 5'6" (163 cm) performs like modern compact sedans and hatchbacks. I have one and because its ground clearance is 200 mm (8 inches), it can run through normal, solid rough roads without worrying scratched bumpers. Sure they have higher ground clearance than compact sedan, but because they use large wheels (mine use 8.6x17 inch wheels), they still good for cornering. Their practicality are same with modern hatchback at least. But on the other side, I don't like crossovers that has body height more than I mentioned above. I got crossover because roads in Indonesia still have rough sections while I want a car that performed like modern hatchback on smooth, paved roads.

Great review Doug! My wife has a 2020 Hyundai Sonata Limited and she loves the car. Two things I wanted to mention was the 10" navigation display has a 3-screen display from the factory that everyone loves. Hyundai provided a free software download update that unexpectantly eliminated the 3-screen display which really upset Hyundai Sonata owners. A lot of people purchsed the vehicle because of the 3-screen display. To my knowledge, Hyundai has not rolled back the software to display the 3-screens. If your Hyundai Sonata has the 3-screen display, do not update the software. The other quirk is that the upgraded 10" navigation display does not have wireless Android Auto. You still have to plug in your phone into the USB data port to get Android Auto to appear. The Sonata's with the cheaper 8" navigation screen has wireless Android Auto. Go figure! I recommend purchasing Motorola MA-1 dongle for wireless Android Auto and it worrks perfect.
Always find it weird my n line 22 doesn't have wireless android while my wife's 22 santa fe does. Even tho my screen is bigger and with way more tech and customization

Bought mine in August of 2020, fast forward to now I am still amazed with this vehicle, get tons of compliments about it, most people I come across don't even know what it is until I tell them and their reactions are all they same, "This is a Hyundai Sonata?!", honestly they're such underrated vehicles, pushing 30k miles on mine so far and I have not had a single issue with it what so ever, ride quality is great, features are amazing as usual, even handles very well in the snow and ice which surprised me the most, overall extremely happy with this car and what Hyundai is doing in general and you really can't beat the price point, yeah it doesn't hold it's value as well as a Toyota or Honda but it's a cheaper vehicle anyway but that's fine with me. But the fact that the whole time I've owned this I haven't had to pay for a single oil change (intervals are 7,500 miles in it with the 2.5L engine and you get complimentary maintenance for 3 years/36,000 miles) and max mpg I got on a long road trip was about 46.2 mpg ( for a non hybrid and that's above advertised at 38 mpg highway which is bonkers) I seriously would recommend this vehicle for anyone looking for a solid midsized sedan, I drove a Toyota Camry as well when I was in the market for a car and I liked the Sonata so much more, it's just more spacious and the tech is miles ahead of Toyota and their warranty is just way better, realistically anything could go wrong with a car at anytime and I would rather be covered than pay out of pocket regardless of a brands reputation, they are made by people after all, but my personal rating of the Sonata, 10/10 no question!

"Why would anyone want the self-parking feature?!?" In South Korea, many parking areas are extremely small. I drove a 1996 Sonata when I lived there and dinged many an expensive car just because the parking spaces were so incredibly tight. We're spoiled in America with large parking lots and spaces.
I just saw one of these in person yesterday. They look really good in person. I don't get the smart park thing though. Yes, you can get your car into a tight spot, but enjoy the door ding, key scratch or attack by the person next to you when they can't get into their car and they are nuts.
I think it's best for when someone parks too close next to you, not for you to intentionally park too close to someone else. Unfortunately, that's not how they marketed the feature on the Super Bowl commercial.
More like you're in the public restrooms, a guy walks in and out of all the urinals, the guy picks the one next to you and it becomes impossible to take a piss.
yet I'm still one of those people thats more interested in sedans and coupes and sports cars and all that. some SUVs are cool, but sedans I find are fine and I still prefer them over SUVs.

In other hand, it's interesting that the Sonata has it, but unless Doug hasn't found it yet, the Rolls & Royces and Bentleys out there don't have it. I would bet they are rushing to add it to their lineups, just to say they also have that
@@stevenvanpelt486 Does it tho? I think the majority of cars get outside air through vents near the windshield wiper assembly, it's actually rare nowadays to see cars with vents far from it in fact. It's bound to have some smell of it when you spray it. Now making that washer fluid neutral in smell would be a nice idea for windshield washer fluid makers instead.
This is an absolutely awesome & stunning car. Just got a 21’ limited yesterday. zero regrets! Everything about it is incredible. I don’t care about speed for my wife, so this is plenty of power to do what it needs to do. The Bose sound system is by far the best I’ve ever heard in a car, period. I thought the previous infinity system was outstanding (had a bit more bass), but this thing is louder & more clear.
I find it amazing how much power every standard car in the US seems to have. Here in Germany, my Saab 9-5 has 185 hp and I consider that rather strong for a standard estate car. My father's 2008 Mitsubishi lancer has 98 hp and it's great to drive in the city and even on the autobahn it's good for 112 mph without any worries, even slightly more if you really want to. And here the hyundai, and several similar cars reviewed by doug, is made to be laughably weak and slow for having only 180 hp.
"For those 5 times a year you use your washer fluid." Well, when you live in the South with pollen in the winter and bugs pretty much any other time of year, you'll need it everyday.
I have a 2017 Sonata and I use the drive mode all the time. There is a big difference between normal drive mode and sport mode. The suspension stiffens and it gives more torque and shifts gears at higher RPMs.
In another Paralell universe, cars live in a world filled with Dougs. There's also a Car Demuro which reviews and shows quirks and features of various Dougs on a video sharing website
Bosstown Dynamics I grew up in Russia (and this is actually a big target market for Hyundai btw) and winter washer fluids (the ones that don’t freeze below 0) often smell really really bad. So yeah, a very useful feature for many regions
4:32 in South Korea... it's not party trick, it's ACTUALLY PRACTICAL EVERYDAY FEATURE. Koreans... especially live in Seoul, a struggle about parking lot is an everyday routine, so Koreans are usually parking AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE AS THEY CAN. it's normal your car is stuck in the parking lot and you have to call the owner of a car that parked one of either side(left, right, front or back) of your car, is not rare in South Korea - not every day but often then you think, it's just time-consuming things. so Koreans are needed this feature. before this feature, Koreans usually leave the parking lot with geared "N" or open door.

Doug: "If you really dont want to smell the washer fluid...the 3 times a year you need it." Come to the north during the winter. You'll use it a lot on wet salty roads.
5 times a year washer fluid usage - lol, you actually had never been in Russia during autumn-winter-spring season. Its like a full tank of washer fluid a week or smth
I was going to say something like this. I used to live in Calgary, where if you got a chinook (warm westerly wind off the Rocky Mountains that can raise the temperature >20 degrees C in the course of a few hours) in the middle of winter and all the snow on the roads / ground melted rapidly, you could be using a tank of washer fluid in a few days. Now that I live in a much warmer climate in Shanghai I barely use washer fluid, so I can certainly see where Doug might get that idea if he's always lived in San Diego.
Yep. Go anyplace where it snows, and during the melting, slime phase of the season, you keep the spare bottle of the stuff in the car for when you're going to inevitably use it up in a few days.
Doug, you've missed one thing in the styling department, when talking about the styling of the headlights - that the running lights and the trim on the car are seamless or are continuous is cool, but you've missed that it looks like a musical note. If you turn the your head a bit, then it's easily noticeable, also the model name kinda gives it away a bit, cuz you know, Sonata.

@@nicholassmart3120 he's actually talking about the button that is hidden in upper half of a Hyundai logo on the trunk

It's a great car and Doug didn't mention a few things that are interesting:
1) If the car is locked, you press the lock button on the fob and then press and hold the "hold" button until the light on your car or the fob flashes once, you have remote start.

"These days everybody is buying SUVs and crossovers"
What a sad sad world we live in.
Wait why?
Ya when he sad that it made me wanna cry I hate suvs everyone just looks like a soccer mom now

If you can smell the washer fluid when it's sprayed on the windshield, your car has a serious design flaw to begin with.
