Phantom 85 - Change Gear Ratio with 20" Rear Wheel Swap

  • In this episode, I set out to lower the speed of the Phantom 85 motorized bike with a gear change. I didn't have a larger rear sprocket on hand. So, I improvised by swapping out the rear wheel of the bike with a smaller 20" wheel as opposed to the 26" that came with it. The bike is easier to ride, feels good, and the gearing is just perfect now.

I absolutely recommend this mod! It changes even a bog stock "china doll" 66cc into a mountain climbing MONSTER!
I did this because I needed a new wheel and 20" was all I had on hand

I did the same because I didn't true my sprocket and sheered the axle on my 700c and the 20" had sealed bearings. Zippy little thing after that

sounds awesome some of the out of balance might be coming from the piston MR. Hoover put in but if you want that engine to last that's what everyone is doing getting ready to put mine together got my chain saw piston in this week and when I compared the weight difference from the original window piston there's a half oz difference so I don't know love that pond you drove upon other hobby bass fishing lol ride safe bro

@@fr33dumb0 I put in a stihl 52mm 044ms440 big bore piston with 12mm pin bearing and made my own window in the piston got 1 phantom 2 experiment with 1000 miles on her got another one with almost 600 miles on her still running great use 32:1 opti lube 2 full synthetic 2 stroke oil temp on a hot 95 degree day around 245 cruising around 25to30 mph she'll go 46mph not good running a 2 stroke wide open for long periods of time my opinion and I've never had a engine lock on me yet for pushing it to hard hope this helps ride safe brother ps they now have a version 3 phantom no problems from what I heard so far

@@fr33dumb0 yeah that's one of my main complaints was that loud popping pipe but was going to change it but I live in a small city it let's drivers know here I come lol you want to try to keep it below 30mph my opinion during first and second tank of fuel and I use the black and white fiber clutch pads they don't slip on my minaralli or phantom

I bought 10 of the phantom 85v3 from ZTMOTO. The V3 utilizes real needle bearings and the exhaust port is narrower. It can use transfer port rise by .5mm and will be less 4 stroking in mid range.
I heard you saying 1 time your other wheel with the 44t it was wheelie prone! Lol it's a torque monster, especially with an expansion chamber! At 20mph on an xl Genesis frame

I just built a ms460 with a 28 mm carb and a 32 tooth sprocket and I have not tested it yet. I'm looking for a lot of speed I was told that this gives it to me. Low rpm and high top end speed. 32 t0 1 mix ratio.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the reason the brakes feel better is that the single lever had the right pull ratio.
