I have to say one of my biggest frustrations with fashion is the idea of ageing out of styles/trends. If this happens naturally for an individual because their interests change its fine, but when age appropriate fashion is forced on us (particularly on women as we age), it does not sit well with me.

its difficult indeed, as a man of 51 I am sometimes deciding between choosing clothes that don't represent me but will look "age appropriate", and clothes I like but wil make me look like a weirdo :)

It's as the saying goes, if you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one.
Even the bigger Japanese fashion brands that do pick up on trends usually dedicate and curate entire seasons of their collections around the style, rather than just constantly piling on to an already muddled brand identity, putting out everything but the kitchen sink, like a lot of Western fast fashion does.

I watched your vids to get some tips on how to shop in Japan. Been here 2 days, and like I heard what you said about Japan but when you see it, it is amazing. I never seen such well dressed people in my life, jaw dropping. Also I have no clue how to even navigate their brands and piece them together so shopping here is hard too for westerner

I'm in Japan right now and even brands like Fruit of the Loom (which back home people associate with cheap walmart underwear/white tshirt) are now kinda hypebeast here having release a collection of hoodies and other cool apparel stuff. But the hardest thing for westerners here is the size !! There are so many cool fashion here but most of them are too small for the average north american male. Xl is sometimes small M or big S size. And the shoulders are so tights ! It's sad because like a friend I know who works in fashion here said to me that it private a lot of brands to have success abroad. Uniqlo got it and is one of the only place with size who fits.

I wish Harajuku aesthetics would become a trend. It would go so well with the cyberpunk touch.

It seems to me that the Japanese like well-constructed clothes with a generous silhouette. American clothing is more form-fitting and of lesser quality, even the quality tiers above what's considered "Fast Fashion." I suspect Japanese like quality American styles MADE in America but would pass on the lesser-quality American-label garments being made in China, India, and other Third World countries. It's really hard to find quality clothes here in the USA these days.

western people have a mindset that beauty lies in physical characteristic
they being labeled as narcisstic and they tend to have more self esteem
therefore i dont think fashion will grew easily in western society despite having a rich history and cultural impact of the world
