  • More than 10,000 km away is the migration of the swallowtail species (Eurasian Hobby) from their breeding grounds to southern Africa. This journey is carried out by long-distance migratory birds, one of which is this bird. Even humans cannot travel that far without using any tool. How amazing it is what animals do in the wild.
This bird belongs to the falconidae family with the scientific name Falco subbuteo. However, unlike the peregerine falcon which is larger and more powerful, the hobby has a smaller size, equivalent to a kestrel with slender wings.
The Eurasian Hobby always hatches cute cubs every breeding season in the spring in the north. Its distribution covers almost all of Europe but not in the northern part of Europe and extends to the eastern region to Japan and several regions in southeast Asia such as Burma. They migrated to south in winter and returning to breed in spring and summer in the north.
The Hobby nest in the video is a nest located in a rural area with agricultural fields in Dorset, England. The owner of the nest through the Dorset Raptor Study Group drsg.co.uk/ has made an artificial nest for these small predators as a place to live. which is comfortable for breeding. In general, falcon species do not make their own nests in the wild, but they always use other birds' nests such as former nests of crows, magpies and sometimes only on high cliffs without a base.
A monitoring camera is provided by Wildlife Windows Ltd. for conducting live broadcasts for study and research purposes.
