We were in Italy during a transportation strike, but we found out that high speed trains usually run anyway. Thankfully that is what we had booked from Florence to Venice!
Yes, unfortunately if it's a national strike, they cancel most of the trains. You guys got very lucky that yours did not get canceled (they always keep the minimum amount of trains running and re-book as many people as possible on those trains.)
Well during strikes trains that runs during peak hours (06.00 - 09.00 and 18.00 - 21.00) are generally guaranteed, even if can be some delays or suppressed
Only if you want to save 💰 also helps to reserve seats. We find discounts allow you to travel in a higher class with comfort v basic. But rock up and book and you pay more and maybe get poor seat choices. Tip. Avoid italo. But prebookking locks in your travel time
@ Thanks!! Yeah I noticed italio doesn’t have the best pre booking. Last time we were there we don’t pre book and it was hectic in Milan. Hoping to plan better this time and avoid the strikes!
I have found, buy booking well in advance, there's often not a huge difference between business class and standard class fares. The extra space is always appreciated on busy routes. Also, I've been caught out a few times missing the link to select seats. If you miss this, you may end up automatically allocated at a table of four, which isn't a comfortable experience. There's also a game I call Railway Roulette. Guess the true platform number. There's a habit of changing platform numbers at the last moment, so always keep checking. This is probably why passengers aren't invited onto the platforms at Roma Termini, for example, until ten minutes before departure. A great video and a new subscriber.
I will be there in 26 days!!! Your videos have all been so helpful for my planning. Thank you. I will be taking the train to Florence on the day I land in Rome so am not booking my train ticket Rome-Florence just in case my flight to Rome is delayed. I hope that’s ok.
As an italian, I suggest you to buy the ticket now but with the flexibility option that allows you to change the date/time even 5 mins before the departure. The more you wait, the more you can pay... sometimes a 30€ ticket could raise even up to 130€ if only few seats remain available! That's because usually everybody take the low-cost seats, so you have no other choice than travelling in business class
You will be able to find a storage facility in and around all the main train stations in Italy. If you want information specifically on the storage in Rome Termini station, here is a video where I go into more details on this topic: th-cam.com/video/Az0DCWt58wc/w-d-xo.html
Hi Anastasia, can I confirm that you do have do still have to check in your regional tickets bought online? I thought that changed again at the end of 2024 and it was now automatic?
We were there last month - December 2024 and took regional trains to Orvieto from Rome, Arezzo from Florence and we didn’t have to check in e tickets. It was indicated on the mobile tickets that we do not have to check in.
People think that trains in Italy are often late and that's true a good portion of them are, but compared to all other European countries believe me or not Italy's trains were the most punctual of them all (even Switzerland).
Hi, if you have purchased a ticket for a group of people, let's say 4 people, when going through the turnstile, do you have to read the QR code once or 4 times so the gate opens for all 4 people?
Welcome to the channel!🎉 I usually recommend booking about 2 months in advance but I would definitely check now just in case there are some freccia offers happening.
Thank you but I am NOT Russian. I am American with Ukrainian origins. Considering what’s happening in Eastern Europe, please be more considerate before asking someone if they are Russian…
Italian Ministry of Tourism should hire you or having you as a consultant. Much better if you were the minister of Tourism (of a dream team government)!

It's exciting indeed!

Happy that you found it useful!
Great tips!
Thank you!
Simpatica , gesticoli quasi come noi 🙂
Grazie! Abito a Roma da più di dieci anni😅
We are heading their next month! This was a good reminder for me to book my train ticket in advance.
Have the most fabulous trip!🇮🇹

Traveling on the train was one of the easiest things I did when I was in Italy last August. Thank you for making this video😊
And it's such a fun experience as well!

Thank you so much! I would go ahead and get the ticket BUT with the option to make changes, if needed.
Thanks both. That’s a good idea. Didn’t think of it. Grazie!
Your video is very helpful, thank you so much.
My absolute pleasure!
Happy New Year 💕 Thanks for the video 😊 Just a question out of curiosity: Are there reduced fares for seniors if you live in Italy?
Happy New Year!🎉 Yes, absolutely. For example, on Trenitalia there is an offer called FrecciaSenior for anyone who is over 60 years old.
How do we use ur travel agency services to Italy??
Tell me about luggage storege facility

This was very informative and so helpful. For charging items, is a 240 converter needed for the train? Thank you so much for doing this.😊
So happy you found it useful! Yes, you will need a converter in Italy, even on trains :)
@StayFabulousTL thank you.😊

I had a hard time with trains in Italy. They kept changing the platform! I ended up in Bologna twice even though I was going to Trieste!
@@sammy-n5d5g oh no! I hope you made it to Trieste eventually!
@@StayFabulousTL Yes, and I even enjoyed the free tour of other cities!
Nice video.

4 times (one for each person.)
@@StayFabulousTL Thanks for the quick response!
Its more likely this is needed onboard.
1. Download app and link ticket or
2. Present qr code on train or
3. Print pdf and present this
Trust Anastasia about Italy, guys.
Thank you!
Always!
Hi Anastasia, new subs here😊im traveling this coming May do i have to book high speed train ticket this month? thanks 🙏

How are travel agents paid? Percentage of trip or cost per day? Maybe do a video on just that
Irrelevant for trains
