    I just went through this process. My ex-complex did send the eviction to collections and that company did report it on my credit. However, it’s not the end of the world (I thought it was at the time). I worked out a deal with the collectors to remove the collection after I paid it off and they honored it. Since the debt was sold it was never reported on my record so I’m able to find a new place stress free. It’s possible to bounce back just stay focused and educated.

      The collections report shows up on your credit report. The eviction shows up on your background check. Most landlords do both a credit check and background check. An eviction only shows up if you were successfully evicted for 7-10 years in most states. And yes some landlords do accept tenants with evictions but they typically require a higher deposit and sometimes they charge higher rents.

      Right but I paid off the collection and it’s no longer on my credit report. And the eviction was never reported in my public record. I had a lawyer look into everything and I’m in the clear. I understand not all companies will be this understanding, but this is my personal experience.

    I just recently tried to talk to my landlord but they told me I have to go through the process. I was laid off from my job found a new one and had to give them a due date for payment, but they weren't hearing it and told me they had to continue through the process. I have to go to court Monday pray for us please

    How about landlords don’t charge 2k for a 1 bedroom that no one can afford! And then Landlords raise the price every year. Life has become too expensive to live. Don’t blame the tenants they are trying the landlords are predatory. I remember when a 1 bedroom was $750. Now they charge you for parking in your own apartment, mandatory cable, mandatory trash, pay rent for a pet, increase rent price for a old building. There should be a list of landlords that overprice the cost of apartments then kick out people who are trying to pay but salaries don’t even pay 3 times the rent which is what is required.

      @@TheModernDayAgent bought a house for 5 years unfortunately I had to sell it I had a adrenal tumor and was just getting my real estate license then I wasn't in a financial place where I was able to keep my home. Now I have a lot of debt from that time and I do not qualify for a loan. The market is slow and I've hit hard times again. I was laid off from my corporate job at Zillow. But I'm trying extremely hard to get work. My family will not help me any longer. I don't blame them. My back is against the wall

    Landlords are more like predatory sharks. They sit on properties that are 50 yrs old, when something’s needs fixing they use the the worst and cheapest handyman who does the most inexperienced job and then the landlord expects to rent a 2 bed for $3600!!!should anyone be sick one week and this causes be backed up on rent they have people like you saying anyone that gets evicted CHOOSES TO NOT PAY RENT!       You should be prepared for a lost week or two. Try skipping a vacation, eating out, and other such activities until you have a rainy day fund. But if you go through life staying constantly broke, the consequences are predictable. The landlord is not your father. It isn't his job to fix your life or bail you out.

I think it's hilarious all of these butthurt landlords kvetching about people unable to pay. The median asking rent in the US in 2010 was $440 in 2023 it's $1500. You all want to be consumed by your own greed, then good tenants give up and say fuck it. So, enjoy your shit sandwich. The people have spoken.

People have no choice in a society but to pay someone else’s mortgage in the form of rent in exchange for a place to live, or buying a house where you need to save up for 20+ years to be able to afford your own mortgage. The system is designed so that landlords (petty bergeoise) obtain table scraps of wealth compared to the huge congolomerate power that they wish they had but instead they try to trick themselves into thinking that they aren’t part of the working class and instead are caught in a limbo of not being a working class and alienating themselves from the struggles of their fellow workers, and not being wealthy of powerful enough to be one of the elites. Landlords truly are the most confused group of humans.       After a certain period a landlord is not obligated to accept your rent. In my jurisdiction, after the 3 day notice turns into 7 days I have the right to push the eviction process if I no longer want to deal with that tenant.

      He walks talks acts and even dresses like he's fallen into some kind of irate groove. You can tell you're not getting any meaningful conversations about the universe from him or has anything to offer besides generic basics for hobbies. There's nothing redeemable in him tbh and you don't actually need much to judge people typically. They don't see people as people. They don't even know what that means.
      Last month I got charged twice for a wall protector, glue, and door. 362$. But then they made a mistake and charged me twice. 700$. Wouldn't fix it till after rent. 462$. I told them no I'm not paying that take off the late fee it's unjust. Get hit with a 30$ notice fee. Get hit with a 350$ lease reinstatement fee. Have an eviction on my record. Threatened with legal fees. I'm really scared that's it for me. Homeless veteran. You landlords are irate, morally bankrupt, and egregious irresponsible and greedy.

    On another note.
    The eviction itself won't show up on your credit report. However, a landlord may choose to seek payment of unpaid rent by selling your debt to a collection agency. If your unpaid debt goes to collection it will show up on your credit report as an unpaid bill. If you pay the bill a year later then what is there to report??

    I got evicted from my apartment at age 20 , I lived there for 2 entire years and was at the start of my renewed lease, i wasn’t evicted for nonpayment, I was evicted because I was “a danger” to my neighbors. It’s been 5 years exactly since my eviction hit my record , I live with my sister at the moment and I’ve been wanting to get my own place but been hesitant because I know I’m going to get denied. I have the income to show I can pay and also a 600 credit score. What can I do ? I need help!

    I am in Virginia in a trailer park My house is 100% paid I own it
    I only pay rent...
    My neighbor is feeding squirrels and rats with peanuts even throwing them on my property
    The squirrels damaged my roof shingles
    My landlord sent me a notice demanding I "replace" my roof for only a few missing singles due to damage from my neighbors "pet" squirrels
    And now rats are attacking my home too from this!

Just because there's deadbeats out there who refuse to pay the rent to the point of eviction dosen't mean every single person with an eviction is that way. There's other circumstances that sometimes occur that are out of the tenants control.

    You’re absolutely correct majority of people evicted bring it on themselves. For example why would you move to a non smoking apartment community and think it’s ok to smoke. When neighbors report you because your smoke stinking up their place then it’s their fault for you getting evicted. You get a warning for having person over smoking in front of your apartment. As if that wasn’t enough you then throw a party with a million cigarette butts in connected driveway the next morning. Hey jeez that’s not my fault I let others get me evicted. It’s the neighbor fault for reporting it. People are absolutely crazy these days.

    I moved in a place and paid the first month's rent and the landlord said I can wait till I got my check to pay the deposit The following week. I was pregnant and high complications and went into the hospital for 3 days when I got home on the third day all my stuff was gone! They went back on their word and evicted me before i got my check. I lost everything. All brand new furniture baby stuff my daughter stuff was gone And they refuse to answer my calls. Then I heard that's not the first time they did that took people.

      Your credit report tells people who don't know you what type of person you are. It is on you to correct your inaccurate credit report... an eviction on a credit report isn't like missing credit card payments. It is a process that could take months and there are legal hurdles along the way. No lies about that if it is on your record.

    It's a bunch of crap I've never not paid my rent until this year because of the exorbitant gas prices now interest rates going up 5% even with good credit you get 10% on cars and RVs killed my business killed my business now no one's buying and now I'm screwed all because of setbacks out of my control I go to work everyday there is no business. I've been in my building for 13 years

    This is what happens when you ask your landlord to give you what you paid for. Or for proper paperwork.
    Here's what happens here... you lose your home. They don't care about you.
    So take it from me. Always read your contract, and make sure you both qoute the tennacy agreement and understand what that means...
    Then you both profit... 70% of landlords do not do repairs on time. Usually 2 -3 years behind on those... so don't talk Mr head. Youre a head. You work with people.... no... you work with homes... and lives.. not "people" get it right

    After 2 months of my tenant not paying rent and not even telling anything, I have started the process of evicting that person. What he is saying here is so true: I would had rather worked it out than go through this process/paying an attorney. This will be my 2nd eviction in over 10 years. In that time I have worked with tenants who lost a job, emergency came up, etc. During the application process (background check/credit check) I let potential tenants know that the only automatic dis-qualifiers are any crimes against children in their background, and ANY EVICTIONS in their credit report.

      @@bobbyjr2161 Do you have a written lease? Usually a lease details what happens when the rent is late. Rent is considered late after 3 to 5 days. If you're going to be 2 weeks late then just talk to your landlord. I've waived my late fee in the past when the tenant keeps me in the know on issues like this; and I understand that things happen.
