I have just bought this car Cddy Maxi Life 2.0TDI DSG (122ps) covered 1500miles so far. I have the infotament one level down or the mid level. This alows all the extras and has a volume nob. only down is the climat has one short cut to access. DSG gearbox is one of the smothest I used BMW or Mercedes. The ride is firm unloade,. But with all the drivers aids is a long distane dream. I find the handerling far beter than the last gen Caddy. This is no hot hatch on narow country the firm ride is most noticable but it is not uncomfortable. If you have 3 dogs and children and regularly cove 320km a day for weekend family visits this is the perfect vehicle. I am averaging 47.6mpg but on the longer runs getting 58.9mpg constant 70mph.

We are currently waiting delivery of our caddy wich has beeb longer than normal due to covid Nice review, and the entertainment system looks like it will get some getting used to. We were impressed with our test drive although we were spoiled with it been a higher spec
It took Apple years to admit that PowerPC is not the best processor in the world and Intel admitting Pentium 4 is a dead end. It took years for BMW to admit they have gone bit too far with custom design and it will take long time for VW to admit the mistake and get the infotainment fixed.
its a shame the industry doesn't invest more in this kind of cars.. Adding just a little nicest interior plastics would make it a perfect vehicle and not a van with glass instead of metal body pannels
We should cherish our knobs... LOL Day made, thank you Marek! What can I say about a box on wheels? Nothing. Not sure how you found so much to talk about. Bravo!
I have to say it is beyond me when almost all the journalist community + drivers / customers reject in unison the touch sensitive buttons, multilayer info screen functionalities and other sliders that a company like VW (de facto them imposed on all the other group brands) decides that this is the way to go. French manufacturers all back pedalling on this. Warum?? On a totally different note, Marek, I can't wait for your review of the Citroën Ami
Looking at a new vehicle in this category, and I do like VW, prices not so much but build quality and styling on them is general better. Having said this i think the caddy as missed the mark with the rear seating configuration. They should have introduced a 3 individual rear seater configuration to maximise load space modularity. Shame because now this puts this vehicle out of consideration. But great review thank you.
A nice van that is called Volkswagen Caddy the 5th generation and it has loads of room and if look at this one it might be a little bit delusional, the wheelbase is long but the length is the same.
Marek i see your reviews ...your speech is brilliant.....pls can you write ...wich is the best family car for 3 kids ?your best van ..and your best suv (bsuv ? Thanx 😁
Thanks. Apparently there isn't much choice, when you want three independent rear seats with isofix, so Sharan/Alhambra or maybe S-Max, but the sliding doors on the VW seem like a bonus.
This infotainment system actually stoped me buying and even considering for time being anything from VW including Škoda or SEAT. When I was buying new car last year I went on a test drive with new Octavia and Leon and ended up buying a Honda ( admitedly not just because it had physical buttons but it also drives better) - for comparison my best friend bought Leon and my boss bought Octavia and they had nothing but problems with infotainment in the meantime. That's why my brother ended up buying Hyundai I 30 this year. So there you go VW - two disgrunteled custemers and two potential customers lost because someone (cough CEO cough) had a brief stint at Tela.
Could not agree more. Was recently looking for an electric or hybrid car, but everything vw and Skoda has those fiddly to use infotainments and no quick way to control the temperature. Which is something I want to do without looking and not be playing around with eyes off the road. So ended up, with a camry hybrid which has been amazing. If VW were perhaps apple they could make something so simple and intuitive using touchscreens but this is a car company, so it is what it is...
I agree some educated ass didn't consult with the people with common sense. Just rolled of a car that is so difficult to operate. Eish,,, sometimes i wonder if a degree really helps????
Good review, can you use just one seat in the rear of you like instead of the 3 thank you. Don't know why people want a computer as a dash, hands free for phone, maps and radio is enough
Assuming you don't need to carry something that fits on a euro pallet, but you want a good family car, I'd go with the Touran. And hurry, because there won't be a next generation.
Good review, Marek, thanks for not having chosen yet another compact crap. As for the car, hope that finally a shorter base would be sufficient to place second row passengers cuz the 4th gen wasn’t roomy enough back there.
@@MarekDrives well... I could agree I used had a Subaru Crosstrek aka XV for 3 years then I return it’s was a leased it’s was nice car except very underpowered and lack of cargo space. For camera vehicle would highly recommend, Forester or Outback more suitable in cargo area.
Interesting they underpowered engines (compared to other models), because they understand they have to deliver reliability. It's somehow awkward these days :D

Depends who you're buying it for. If you want your crew to trash it around a building site for two years, then you buy a Dokker. If you're going to be driving it long distance for 5 years, see clients, etc., then you buy a Caddy (or better yet the new Kangoo).
