1:01 I can think of few more iconic moments than the Strike rising for the first time amidst explosions while the opening build-up of _Anna ni Issho datta no ni_ kicks in at full force.
For me the best one from that SEED ed is Athrun and Kira on opposite sides of that fence when they meet up again in ORB. That being said, i tear up just thinking about the Red;birthmark drop after the Final Duel in g-witch so personally it's that show
As a proud owner of 1 of this fellas... The HGCE Freedom and Strike Freedom work wonders together with it ❤ They dont exactly fit 100% because of proportions, but once you manage to settle them... OH BOY!🎉
I find the Revive freedom fists don't work there well so swapped the fists. Which is why the reg release is better than p bandai. The rg fists are even worse
I'd say the transitions for Red Birthmark are superior because it's so subtle and soft you barely noticed that it's there before it's too late and that bass hits and then you realized "shit, it's ending alr???"
G-Witch had the superior transitions. The hauntingly beautiful instrumental beginning portion of Red Birthmark that plays before the ED goes into full gear... coupled with how it played over credits in certain episodes before transitioning into the full vocal track... my god, it's amazing. That extended instrumental beginning portion had better be on the 4-DISC CD release of the OST.
The P-Bandai version is the same kit but with additional parts that allows you to mount the RG kit on it. IIRC, it was released around the the RG Freedom was released. Bandai also released a P-Bandai version of HG GN-Arms with parts to mount RG Exia. Additional note: both the P-Bandai METEOR and GN-Arms does not come with HG Freedom and HG Exia respectively.
Man, that old Freedom reminds me alot of my old HG and MG Wing kits I had as a kid. Still have them in a bin too. Those foil stickers and that fully non colored beam saber are a blast from the past.
16:00 Like this kit, the GNR-001E GN Arms Type-E got their initial HG run and then a 'Real Type' recolor to be used with the RG mobile suit. Of course the actual connection part was altered to be compatible with the RG kit. It's the same with this 'Real Type' P-Bandai release. It's been slightly colored to look more 'real' and the connection port was adjusted to be compatible with the RG.
Remember that sanding down the pegs on older HGs is a decent idea, makes them take apart easier if you accidentally clamp then together too hard. This will also help you seal the seamlines easier.
This is my proudest collection right now, along with GN Arms Type-D I got recently from Japan. I haven’t assembled the latter because I just don’t have space I really need to color it at some point in the future.
You think thats crazy. I started out building the old Endless Waltz kits when I was a kid. The ones that had feet that were all one color. Gunpla definitely has come a long way. . .
@@MrMyu Definitely all nostalgia, but that's okay. I really wish I still had all those kits now too. Especially Tallgeese III. They were great for their time.

I also have the P-Bandai Tallgeese 3 still mint in package. I still want to get the P-Bandai MG Tallgeese 2 for my collection. I also still have the HG 1/100 Serpent still mint in package and the HG 1/144 Wing Zero still in the shrink wrap. I just got the new P-Bandai HG 1/144 Deathsythe Hell last week. I still have my HG 1/144 Wing Gundam and Wing Gundam Zero revive to build. I also have most of the EW MG kits still to build. All of my other Wing kits are built- PG 1/60 Wing Gundam Zero, HG 1/60 Wing Gundam Zero, HG 1/100 Wing Gundam, Deathsythe, Shenlong, Wing Gundam Zero, Deathsythe Hell, Altron Gundam, Gundam Epyon, EW Wing Zero, EW Deathsythe Hell custom,EW Heavyarms, EW Sandrock, EW Nataku MG 1/100 Wing Gundam Ver Ka, Wing Gundam Zero, Deathsythe Hell custom, EW Gundam Heavyarms, MG Wing Gundam tv version, no grade 1/144 Wing Gundam, no grade Deathsythe and Deathsythe Hell, no grade Shenlong and Altron, no grade Sandrock, no grade Wing Gundam Zero, no grade Gundam Epyon, 1/144 revive Deathsythe, Sandrock revive, Heavyarms revive, Shenlong revive. And many more.....
my favorite ending transition in gundam is (by all means technically counts) the end of Thunderbolt Bandit Flower the big reveal into the credits was so good
Man I wish you start reviewing 3rd party add ons like the MG and RG Metal frames. Seed Metal frames and Nu, Hi-Nu and Sazabi Metal frames would be nice to look upon.
I've got one of these that I haven't built yet. Been sitting around for several years. I finally decided I want to mate it with the HGCE Infinite Justice.
Okay, so related to comparing old kits to newer kits. I've got a 1990 HG Gundam Mk-II and when I got back into plamo, I ended up getting the RG of the Mk-II. The two standing side is both funny, but also shows how far kits have come.
While i think a lot of the SEED outros hit surprisingly well given how naff the writing often was, it's G-witch by a mile, for being a much higher quality show over all and for Red:birthmark being the better song. That being said, i do think the tactic of "longer TV size ed you lead into as the episodes end" was coined by SEED, so G-witch still owes the lineage of that move to it
Seed's ending transitions are good but WFM takes it. The soft hum of Red:Birthmark starting at the end of every ep, making you realize it was ending, god, got me every time.
I bought mine at release, for the time, yeah great kit. Never realised how bad the old freedom was, I basically repainted mine and did some work on it, that's how I "fixed" it. It just a really old kit, I find the HG freedom still ok. You may not agree, but I hate the IBO HGs more than I hate this old freedom. (feet & waist area are really problematic) I do have older kits like the old wing kits, the old Gundam G kits, old gundam X kits, my oldest kit is a gundam ZZ, that one is...special. I would say from the ones I own, the old Gundam G kits are the worst of them all. I do prefer gundam seed kits over IBO kits, even the older seed kits. gundam 00 have other issues but they're better and then you got all the newer revives, those are great, but you have newer RGs which are so much better. I don't have any witch kits at home yet, though they most are paid for at HLJ, will ship later. I have seen quite a lot of HG to EG which are marked as HG, but in truth are EG (looking at you old G-unit kits and HG Endless waltz kits) The meteor... yeah it needs a lot of work to look good, I painted mine (btw I know you got warhammer, the purple is Genestealer purple). As you said, it's big project to work on, even to this way, I've always wanted to get a second one. As for the build, hate to say, but you did something wrong, mine closed up correctly, you left something in there in the way. I disassembled mine to paint it a bit. A couple of things you didn't mention/don't know: It's quite the solid kit, seriously, I've dropped this kit more than once, it's a brick, parts come off, but no breaking, remember I bought mine at release. The one part that does break is the top part of the base, it's too small, the unit is too heavy, eventually it broke on me, but it was easily fixed, I re-enforced it though and you don't see it since it locks inside. It is quite stable even 20 years after, it may have plenty of flaws but it's a solid kit, the arms are solid, the missile stuff is weirdly solid even after 20 years. 1 thing I found annoying is how in the anime you can do like 1 beam full left, 1 beam full right, basically beams spread like a double giant beam saber, you can do it here, but it looks odd, not sure how the hell they even did it in the anime, I looked at the anime, couldn't figure it out. The other fun part is you can take parts off to look like the damaged version from the finale. A few final things I'll say about bit kits like these which I love, 1 aspect I hate: you gota clean them, dust them off from time to time. It's a big kit, I got it on some furniture, it's too big for my displays. 0 regrets getting it though, it was cheaper at release, it's awesome. It looks way better properly painted up.
I just switched the old freedom with the Revive freedom and swap fists. I find the Revive fists don't work that well on this. The rg fists are even worse.
Oh that textured moulding, I've seen them do that on nerf guns while I was growing up, thought it was the coolest thing. Didn't know it ever made its way onto gunpla.
This was my first and only model kit that I owned. My dad got me this as the toy to shut me up for asking anything else, and it worked. We even built it together while traveling. Nostalgia hit me in the feels with this one 🥹
Those massive beams would look great modified so that a 1/144 HG/RG could hold them as handheld beam sabers. And then doing that famous two-handed sword pose where the tip of the sword is close to the screen. Idk what the pose is called.
10:32 I happen to own a Gundam Universe Freedom Gundam which is quite similar in proportions, as well as backpack (the wings are identical), arm and skirt design. However, it features simpler PVC hands and a much better head.

Stop saying its a 20 year old kit, I'm not old aaaaaah! But seriously, I love that you showcased this because I've been on a run getting SEED/Destiny (specifically Kira)'s suits that I missed getting back in the day due to the new movie coming (HYPE), and I think this one can fall on the "maybe later" pile because I don't have much time for the amount of paint work it requires. Now if only I can find one MG SF. Side note I wish you had tried on the RG Freedom on the METEOR tho, I'm looking at mine and it seems like the back wings on the RG can swerve back enough to fit, maybe.
