Coming out as an atheist in the Philippines is almost unheard of. Filipinos are very religious people, but it bothers me that most people think that having no religion means I worship the devil or I'm just going through a bad time in my life. Having no religion is an option. I respect other people's belief, but why can't they respect mine? It's very frustrating.
Not being a theist cannot be an option when a god is observed and proven to be real. Theists claim a god or gods are real, theists need to present their gods as proof because we do not observe gods existing on multiple occasions... in fact, on none.
I told a lady who was trying to get me to attend their church that I do not have a religion and do not intend to join any and she said, "It's okay. God loves everyone including you." They don't understand. 😁
because religious people can be the most judgmental people on the planet. whenever you go against the status quo, they will attack you. they're only good Catholics/Christians whenever its convenient for them... for example: a lot of Religious nut jobs oppose same sex marriage saying its against God's law.... but then turn around and cheat on their wives with other women (which is also against God's law) most religious folks are hypocrites.
I agree..... maraming mayroong mga valid points at masasabi mo talagang may alam sila sa topic, open-minded sila, at rinerespeto nila paniniwala ng iba... which is good 😁

Im an atheist, but i dont mind going to church since it still means a lot for my mother. I used to see it as a chore, but then i just used mass time for more constructive things like: - planning what to do for work this coming week - remembering what needs to be bought, paid etc. - listen to the priest. I treat this more like "story time" - admire architecture, if im in a church ive never been to before - or make faces at the kid who just stares at you
"Just because we're different doesn't mean we have to be in conflict with each other." And that's the problem with people, not just in religion pero sa buhay in general. Ang problema kasi sa mga religion is nasa doctrina nila na pag hindi ka naniwala about this certain God is mapupunta ka sa impyerno at magdudusa ka, kaya iinsist talaga nila sayo na maniwala ka 👎

Atheists are right that they are the product of mindless unguided natural processes, then they have given a strong reason to doubt the reliability of human cognitive faculties. And therefore inevitably to doubt the validity of any belief that they produce including their atheism. And their beliefs in naturalism would therefore appear to be at war with each other, in a conflict that is nothing to do with “God”
This is what people needs to learn..how to converse properly without cursing and insulting other people cause they have a different beliefs or religion..in short we need "respect".. i hope the time would come that this world would be full of happiness and respect
I envy people who still believes in "God", its just so easy to submit all the problems/hardships to "Him" but i just cant just ignore reality or facts about life.
You can believe, be aware, think about facts all at the same time. And it's not about just submitting, it's also about letting Him give us strength and guidance to overcome problems and hardships that you're referring to.

I had been in a relationship wherein my partner's really religious. Everytime I did something wrong, he'll utter a lot of bible verses, in which doesn't truly help me. I tried to apply it into my life but it isn't working. One day, I've talked to him and this is what I exactly told him; "Sorry ____, but those bible verses wouldn't help me to change my life. And please stop convincing me to convert into your religion. Because for me, my relationship with God matters the most. As long as I can talk to Him, my faith is still there. I don't have to perform any activities that will "certify" me as a Catholic.. At the end of day, it's just me and God." Sadly, we broke up...
Well its a bit over the top when he keeps on reciting verses .and if he didn't understand u wen you sat him down and told him that faith is u and god alone then maybe it was for the best that u guys ended it.
Its really hard to compliment with someone if both of you have different values or belief in life. It takes effort to truly respect each other without involving your beliefs and faith.
I can relate to her when she said she was down and her catholic friends tried to comfort her but then they're using God and it didn't help her enough. P. S. I am Catholic.

Parang karamihan ay walang konsepto ng posibilidad na walang diyos o Walang buhay pagkatapos nito. I think, and just as I learned about myself growing up, is that we simply accept what we are taught. If we are taught about god, chances are we will just accept it. Lalung lalo pag sa kapaligiran natin it is just understood and accepted na May diyos...relihiyoso or Hindi. I appreciate that people are opening up more about it dito sa Pilipinas. It is not right to just assume that everyone has the same beliefs and to push those beliefs, implicitly or explicitly onto others.
For those who are kind of confused on identifying their belief system: Atheism - belief that there is no god Agnosticism - can’t really say there is or there is no god ‘cause you can’t really know for sure. Is not equal to believing in a god but not in religion Deism - belief in a god but not in religion; belief where there’s a god that created the universe but does not believe the supernatural abilities associated with them (e.g. controlling your fate, miraculous healing, etc.)
Actually no. Atheism is the lack of belief in god. Agnosticism is just lack of knowledge in a certain context. The word structure of agnostic has no religion within its context. Hence, agnostic people are still atheists. Agnostic atheist to be precise since those 2 terms are not mutually exclusive. People may argue that Agnostic means god is not knowable. But that also means you are not actively believing in a god, basically you are still an atheist.

I was born and raised Catholic. Recommitted to my Faith at 27 after a period of time being a pragmatist in the early 20s. Finally understood the difference between Faith and religion with the help of spiritually mature believers, my parents who are theologians, and personal encounter with God. What I can say is that our life is a pilgrimage. It all starts with seeking God, and the more I knew the nature of God, the more I came to trust Him. I finally understood the verse, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Mt. 6:33)". Same thing, if we don't seek God, it's difficult to see Him in our human experience. The gift of Faith is that urge to seek. And for those who believe, we are accountable to live the teachings of our Faith. It is through our life that people can have a sense on the God we worship. If we become disrespectful, it drives them away from knowing God. But if we live truly the teachings of Christ, it will change people's lives as what we have seen from people whose lives have been inspired by saints (people who live genuinely holy lives). That's my two cents. ❤
A great conversation between two people of different, yet almost similar perspectives. Please excuse my personal biases with the Catholics; most of them are more understanding, and more open-minded when it comes to another person's thoughts about their faith.
Marami tayong pagkakaiba-iba sa relihiyon, cultura, etc. but regardless of affiliation, we are all human beings. We must respect each other's differences even if we can't accept it. WAG NA WAG lang natin pag haluin ang relihiyon sa politika, relihiyon sa science, etc. Dahil gulo lang yan. Let's be real.
I love how they are so calm, open-minded, and respectful. I like the guy, he listens to what she's saying with an open mind cause most people I know doesn't really respect whether someone chose to be an atheist. Most people would force their beliefs on others and would use Bible verses here and there especially on debates (at school). I like the both of them, wish everyone I know has this kind of mindset.
Thanks for everyone's kind words on our video. I think dialogue like this show that despite differences in beliefs, people can have a sincere conversation, a moment of encounter where they won't be proving the other person wrong but rather try to understand and see the humanity of the other. Our differences in experiences and religion (or lack of it) shouldn't be a stumbling block to our realization that we're all part of one human family. :)
We are all entitled to our beliefs; it is the last inch of human dignity. The real question is... can we peacefully co-exist with those who believe differently?
As a Roman Catholic, I have questions and reservations re our traditions, practices but I still believe there's a powerful One above. Faith is also an experience and it taught me to stay believing.
@@everythingnice949 That is the truth.Even well educated atheists changed their mind after having experienced God's presence during NDE [near death experience] while others after having read biblical prophecies, many of which are happening before your very eyes if you would just take time to know more about these current events through the lens of bible prophecies.
Reasons why I became an atheist: 1. Religion used as an agenda: Historically we know that religion is used in favor of some people's agenda whether it's a state, a race and etc. If people have forgotten, then I'd like to remind that most major religions now, didn't spread accidentally, most of it was used by force (remember the colonial times). 2. God as false hope: We always interpret things the way we'd like to see it. Good things happening to you? it's God's blessings. Bad things happening to you? That's just God testing you. We interpret things rather than seeing situations as they are. It's an unfair world and we just have to accept it. 3. Religion diminishes your own personal thinking: If you follow a religion, you should follow everything that's being told upon you, if you don't then you're not 100% of that religion and that you are of another label or sect. Protestantism was birthed from a differing take on Christianity from the Catholic Church. If you believe in a personal God and don't subscribe to a religion, then that's you finding hope in a God in hopeless situations.
Man no.1 is very prevalent especially in our history. Spaniards enforcing Christianity on every single citizen and if they don’t comply they get brutally murdered, tortured , kicked out of their homes and etc I still don’t see why people think Christianity is a gift if it forced down our throats without our consent.
Don't forget how you should give God all the credits even though it's all you. People would try to force me to thanking God for providing myself a roof above my head, but I DID IT all by myself because of my hardwork. If God truly was there, He would've saved me the sweat, blood and tears. It's also unfair. A lot of people suffered from poverty all their life, does that mean God was testing them their entire life? How unfair is that?
I will tell you Bible is credible and its the word of truth. but science in astronomy and evolution discredit it para maging gnostics ka at maging atheists and iba.

This is the first time that I'll comment to a TH-cam video. What compelled me to do so was the fact that this was such an underrated topic and it takes such bravery to discuss about this. Such is something deemed polarizing by many and it is commendable of Rec•Create to make a healthy discussion about it, given the fact that this may cause uproar. Ang husay lang na they can make something deemed controversial relatable to people. Kudos, Rec•Create! Sana marami pang ganitong types of videos.
People cannot simply discuss this on national tv, maybe bottomline or other tv docs can show this kind of topic but not all. They are binded to what popularity dictates. Here in youtube they cannot easily control as it goes "beyond". No moratorium kumbaga hehe..
A friend told me na "di ka ipapanik ng kindness sa langit" i was like 😕 "so kahit pangit ugali mo as long as naniniwala ka papanik ka ng langit?" And she was like "oo, kaya nga maniwala ka nalang".
I think this is disappointing. Questions on their problem with the other's worldview should have been discussed more. They were tiptoeing, afraid of 'offending' the other, which is not genuine honesty at all. I would better appreciate if they actually clashed into an argument while still respecting each other as a human. I think they could do that.
No matter what, most Filipino men would rather 'not' clash with women, not only because we respect them, but its more of a culture. Yup its disappointing, for me too, but theres no more disagreement when they are both open minded about the argument.
But this isn't supposed to be a debate at all. This is, in a way, a getting-to-know-each-other. Mahahalata mo naman iyon sa format at sa mga tanong. Their worldviews literally offend each other, hindi na nila kailangan ng pagtatalo para ma-establish iyon.

Totoo.
I told a lady who was trying to get me to attend their church that I do not have a religion and do not intend to join any and she said, "It's okay. God loves everyone including you."

because religious people can be the most judgmental people on the planet. whenever you go against the status quo, they will attack you.
they're only good Catholics/Christians whenever its convenient for them... for example:

Im an atheist, but i dont mind going to church since it still means a lot for my mother. I used to see it as a chore, but then i just used mass time for more constructive things like:
- planning what to do for work this coming week
- remembering what needs to be bought, paid etc.
- listen to the priest. I treat this more like "story time"
- admire architecture, if im in a church ive never been to before
- or make faces at the kid who just stares at you

Religion - by definition IS "a relationship with god".
LoL a typical protestan, born again mindset bruh
Raised as Catholic but never knew its teaching and faith right? Btw personal relationship cannot be found in any pages of the Bible but Religion can. Catholic religion is the only christian religion that exists for the first 1500 years . until marthin luther, a Catholic monk who broke up with the Catholic church started building his own church and began to devide the Christianity. Now which one would you rather be? to a Christ founded Church or a Manmade church?
The moment you believed in Jesus Christ, you're already following christianity which is a religion.
i'm a catholic teenager 16M . i really appreciate this conversation. I still have a lot to discover about my faith, and it's a good journey as long as we have good intentions for one another even if we have different beliefs. I believe that God wants us to be good for each other generally.

If you want a single proof that will prove that God exists..look no further - His people, the Jews. They still exist when all their enemies, great warriors of ancient civilizations, no longer exist. The Roman empire, the Greeks, Egypt, the Philistines... where are they now? Powerful armies have come and go but the Jews remain no matter how many times they have been surrounded by enemies all throughout history-- wanting to annihilate and slaughter them. But the Jews still exist and their military might is in full display for the world to see. The God of Israel is ever faithful. He never abandons His people for He promised to preserve them until the end of days. Here is the speech that will make you think twice before you turn your back on God.
Prime Minister Netanyahu Speech
The Jews Are Proof that God exist
Only 70 years ago! The Jews were taken to slaughter like sheep.
🔵 No country. No Army.
Seven Arab countries declared war on the small Jewish state, only a few hours after its creation!
🔵 we were 650,000 Jews against the many millions in the Arab world!
There was no strong IDF(Israel Defense Forces).
No powerful air force to save us but only brave Jewish people with nowhere else to go.
🔵Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Saudi Arabia all attacked at the same time.
🔵the country that the United Nations gave us was a 65 % desert.
🔵 35 years ago! We fought the three most Powerful armies in the middle east, and we swept them in six days.
We fought against various coalitions of Arab countries, which had modern armies and many Soviet weapons, and we have always beaten them!
Today we have:
🔵 a State (Country)
🔵 an Army,
🔵 a Powerful Air Force,
🔵 A State-of-the-Art Economy with exports worth billions of dollars.
🔵 Intel - Microsoft - IBM & many high-tech companies develop cutting edge products in Israel
🔵 our doctors receive awards for medical research.
🔵 we make the desert bloom, and sell oranges, flowers and vegetables all over the world.
🔵 Israel has sent its own satellites into space!
🔵 three satellites at the same time!
🔵 We are proud to be at the same rank as:
🔵 The United States, which has 250 million inhabitants,
🔵 Russia, which has 200 million inhabitants,
🔵 China, which has 1.3 billion inhabitants;
🔵 Europeans - France, Great Britain, Germany - with 350 million inhabitants.
🔵 the only countries in the world to send objects into space!
🔵 and say that only 60 years ago,
🔵 we were led, ashamed and hopeless, to slaughter!
🔵 we have experienced the smoking ruins of Europe,
🔵 we have won our wars here in Israel with less than nothing
🔵 we built our little "Empire" from nothing.
Who's Hamas to scare us?
🔴 to terrify us?
You make us laugh!
🔴 Passover was celebrated;
Let's not forget what Passover is:
🔴 we survived Pharaoh,
🔴 we survived the Greeks,
🔴 we survived the Romans,
🔴 we survived the inquisition in Spain,
🔴 we have the pogroms in Russia,
🔴 we survived Hitler,
🔴 we survived the Germans,
🔴 we survived the Holocaust,
🔴 we survived the armies of seven Arab countries,
🔴 we survived Saddam.
🔴 we will survive the enemies present
Think of any time in human history ⚠
Think about it, for us, the Jewish people,
🔷 the situation has never been better!
🔷 then let's face the world,
Let us remember:
🔶 all nations, empires or cultures
🔶 who once tried to destroy us,
🔶 no longer exist today - while we still live!
🔶 Egypt?
🔶 Babylon?
🔶 the Greeks?
🔶 Alexander of Macedonia?
🔶 The Romans? (does anyone still speak Latin these days? )
🔶 The Third Reich?
And look at us
🔵 The slaves of Egypt,
🔵 The People of Moses
🔵 The Nation of the Bible,
🔵 We are still here,
And Hebrew is still the official language of the State of Israel today:
🚩 from the time of the Bible and now!
🚩 Arabs don't know yet,
🚩 but they will learn that there is a God.
🚩 as long as we keep our identity, we are forever.
Some claim our morale is low.
🔵 so what?
Only because we mourn our deaths while our enemies rejoice in the blood shed & war.
🔵 that is why we will win, in the end.
The God of Israel created the Heaven's and the Earth.
The Guardian of Israel never slumbers or sleep! The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Now, this is a mature conversation.
For those who are kind of confused on identifying their belief system:
Atheism - belief that there is no god
Agnosticism - can’t really say there is or there is no god ‘cause you can’t really know for sure. Is not equal to believing in a god but not in religion
Deism - belief in a god but not in religion; belief where there’s a god that created the universe but does not believe the supernatural abilities associated with them (e.g. controlling your fate, miraculous healing, etc.)
But that also means you are not actively believing in a god, basically you are still an atheist.
add panentheism, and pantheism

No, Jesus never told us to force our belief on anyone..but we are comamanded to share God's words with others. Maybe the next time you talk to an atheist...you can ask them this.. Can a people become a nation again after having been dispersed in different parts of the world for more than two thousand years? And in the countries where they were exiled, they were the minority and were heavily persecuted. They were not allowed to secure jobs and were often expelled from their lands..
And throughout the ages, kings, queens, political and religious leaders tried to annihilate them...do you think they could survive as a people?
Could they become a nation again and become a powerful force in the region shortly after they reestablish themselves in the land of their forefathers? And as they tried to rebuild their tiny country, they have to survive the attacks of the neighboring nations that have more well-established armies?
Considering they are a small country, with no army at that time, as small as New Jersey with the land mostly dessert, surrounded by enemies who attack them from all sides
--- and with hardly any natural resources that even Mark Twain in his diary said that even a cactus was having a hard time to grow in this arid, bone dry and dessicated land ? Will they survive? What do you think?

"...You need to care more about the person and less more about their beliefs." ❤
-Chris
Definitely ♥️
2020 is the Church's year of dialogue. Let us pray for more people who would be willing to have honest conversations like this. :)
I agree. For me, it all of a sudden becomes fictional when they start mixing religion into serious topics.

This is perfect for The Year of Ecumenism, Inter-religious Dialogue, and Indigenous People.
Reasons why I became an atheist:
Exactly! That's why I am proud to have no religion. Call me a devil. IDGAF
I love to #QuestionEverything. I am always curious. I don't stop learning. That's why I am now free from having a religion.
How unfair is that?
did you read a whole bible?
let us Agnostics join, and we'll just sit there and say "owww okay okay ahhhhh oww"

ricky gervais once said "just because you are offended, it doesn't mean you're right." but dismantling one's faith isn't gonna help either; growing up reading books, encyclopedia and journals-which was the root why i became an athiest rn-and was surrounded by religious relatives and friends, made me realize that faith (to them) plays a vital role when they're facing different kinds of problem. It just that there are SOME religious ppl that are toxic enough to believe that they are right, and will shove their belief down in people's throat. It's really provocating.

i really love the comment section in this video, i did not expect na napakarami ring athiest that shares the same struggle na i thought ako lang ang naka-experience-coming out as an athiest in a country devoted to christianity is really hard. I do salute y'all!
that's easy to say if you're either depressed or rich af
@@lmfaolol78 why? explain
@@joncalleno4075 respect them pero kapag mali na sila and may natatapakan nang ibang tao we should act, correct them if we can...
@@xtianarce8996 nirerespeto ko naman sila kahit ganyan ang kilos nila, tao lang naman tayo. Di ko naman sila pinapansin at all cuz i dont wanna make myself look hypocrite and illogical. I just observed their actions and how they can destroy our image as a filipino 'till these days.. Pero tao lang tayo lahat tayo nagkakamali. For me mas pipiliin ko maging ganyan kesa gumawa lang ng krimen. Peace
@@joncalleno4075 true tao lang tayo nagkakamali ... based on my experience po kasi i know people na religious pero sila pa nangunguna sa mga katarantaduhan like bullying and shaming other people which i cant tolerate such actions cant never be tolerated pero mahirap solusyunan i tried telling one of the teachers pero sabi nya child fight lang daw...
Being religious is different from being spiritual
prolly one of the most interesting and substantial content i’ve ever watched in yt
After watching the "Jubilee" of Atheists and Christians Debate, this debate is the most friendly one yet.
A friend told me na "di ka ipapanik ng kindness sa langit" i was like 😕 "so kahit pangit ugali mo as long as naniniwala ka papanik ka ng langit?" And she was like "oo, kaya nga maniwala ka nalang".
that sucks. very illogical
Yikes.
Lol. Mali siya. A believer must be dead to willful sin and start living in Christ bearing fruits of GOOD MORALS.
Born again christians madalas magsabe nyan. hahaha maniwala ka lang daw ma save ka na.🤣🤣🤣🤣
siguro pagiging pratical lang asa isip ng kaibigan mo
"you need to care more about the person, less about their belief"
"just because were different doesnt mean doesnt mean that we have to be in conflict with each other" 👏🏻
I think this is disappointing.
Their worldviews literally offend each other, hindi na nila kailangan ng pagtatalo para ma-establish iyon.
i agree

Atheist here! I'm currently watching this vid, 7 minutes so far but I'm really loving their conversation- they're both so open and respectful to each other.
