I have a Tahoe 215 XI with a Mercruiser 4.5ltr 250hp inboard. I have about every gauge on the dash except the engine hours, or so I thought. Just got the boat back from the shop having some new items added and this was one of them. I am looking forward to getting the boat out on the water and getting the app all set up. Thanks for the in-depth review. I learned there is a lot of extra information and gauge information within the app that I don’t have on the boat. So this will be a huge help. Thanks for taking the time to produce this video.

Great Video that explains the features of this unit very well. When you register your unit and enter a preferred dealer, that dealer can then go into a Mercury portal and view all of the things and details of your engine that you see on your module. The advantage of this is that we at Merten Marine will check on our customers on a regular basis and in turn check on any faults that they may have incurred as well as remind them that they have maintenance that is due. This is a great way for your dealer to build a better relationship with you as a customer.

Super video as I had no idea as to what Vessel View was as i am a first time boat owner. Thanks for the detailed explanations.
Ordered one today for my F60 EFI ELPT outboard. Excited for it, will mostly use it to monitor fuel consumption, since I run on a small 25L tank. Wish it had more functions for saving plots of entire trips or do Navigation. I guess I will have to run a second app for that, though.
I was thinking of getting one too but I don’t think the 40-60EFI have the ability for fuel consumption display. Did you find different?

Thanks for the heads up on the sale price directly from Mercury. I bought one and now have it but have to wait until spring to install on my 90HP 2017 Mercury four stroke /Legend X16. But I can now take off the little Amazon gadget I installed on one of the spark plugs to record engine hours. Thanks also for the detailed analysis of how to use it; I would have figured it out, but nice to see someone care enough to assist other boaters. Stay safe out there and best of luck on your fishing - up here in Canada, many months remain before the ice goes away....(sigh)

@@NitroZ18Fishing You are welcome. I looked at a lot of videos about Vessel View. Yours is the best for running through the features. I really wanted to know about fuel usage and amount in tank. My fuel gauges on the boat isn't very good. I can see that this app will take the place of the boat gauge. I just bought a new 75HP motor. When it arrives, I will be installing this on the boat. I have the Vessel view already. Just don't have the motor to install it on yet!. But thanks so much..

So detailed and informative. Im buying it tonight. I do have a smart craft cable and one smart gauge on my motor but i can't seem to get it right. Do i have to take it down first? Does this install on rhe same plug on the motor or there is one just for vessel view? Thank you
Great vedio! My question is, under fuel consumption I saw average MPG. Will it display real time MPG or gallons per hour? Id like to play around with rpm and engine tilt and determine the best fuel economy for long trips. I just repowered with a 2021 Mercury 150hp. Thanks Howard
great info, just bought one and used it to get my hrs from my 2005 optimax cause im selling it and will install it on my new Z18 when it arrives. just a note on my 2005 optimax needed to also get the yellow terminating connector cause 2006 and under engines dont have one. i was lucky that bass pro lent me one to get my hrs. thanks again and looking fowards to all the options his module provides..joe

What is that other end if the vessel view cable used for, I am getting this vessel view but I also want to view my engine on my lowrance live graphs, will I be able to do that with this vessel view mobile installed????also do you do installs

I finally received the Vessel View and installed it alongside your video. Installation went perfect. One question I have is about the fuel consumption. I entered my tank capacity as directed. Do you have to start with a full tank? I'm a little confused on that and if you have a minute to elaborate I would appreciate it. Mercury should have this video on their website. Great instruction.
Gray, you have to enter how many gallons are actually IN the tank, not total capacity. So say you have a 20 gallon tank and its at 1/4 tank, you'd then enter 5 gallons and the vessel view will calculate remaining fuel based off that. Hope that helps.

Is this worth it if my Twin Garmins do all my read outs on the dash for a 2020 Chaparral 350 6.2 merc? Does this show faults and if you fix them will it clear the faults?

Excellent videos! I installed my VV unit following your video, so thank you. It made it so easy for me. Someone commented on fuel in the tank. My tank holds 32 gallons full, but I estimated what I think I currently in the take based on my last fuel increase (e.g., 16). My question is a follow up to the "does your motor need to be on to connect". Does your motor have to be on in order to Add a New page to view specific info?

Do you have to have service on your cell for this to work??
To add screen with engine temp you have to have your engine to on and connected before you can make the new screen?
How do you keep screen turned on ?
Anytime i use my phone for gps etc, it times out and turns screen off.
I’d like vessel view but not sure how it would go on phone 11 with this potential issue.

What's the size of your nitro stickers on the deck doors? I went on that website but dont see anything with nitro. What was the price of yours? Thanks I appreciate it
the Nitro decals on my rod lockers are 42" long, unfortunately Zdecals lost the right to make them from now on...I'm hearing that they're working on trying to be able to make them again, but at this point they can't do them anymore...a lot of people have been asking about them and as far as I know you can't get them anywhere from my understanding, unless you find someone who does custom work and is willing to do them for you...hopefully it will get straightened out, because Zdecals are the best out there!

When you first installed you vessel view, did it have any effect on your electronics? My console Elite 9Ti seems to have been effected. When I first powered it up, it had a view of gauges on the screen that I had never seen before. When I went into "pages", all my custom views were gone. Coincidence? Perhaps. Maybe my unit was just getting back at me for not having had it powered up in a while.

How does the split screen view work?
I got my termination and VV is now working, but have gotten busy again, and will be awhile before I can test it on the lake.

Question on app, the engine hours portion. Does it show hours used since new, or only starting when the Mercury Marine, Vessel view is installed/hooked up? TIA

Great overview. The real question is how and where do you mount it when on the water? I don't see holding it while running to make use of most of the features.

@@NitroZ18Fishing thanks for following up with me. I didn't realize I had to manually enter the fuel. Once I did it updated fine. After reading the faq Im understanding it to mean the fuel usage isn't guaged by the actual fuel in the tank but rather an approximation which is probably based on hours and rpms. Is that your understanding also?
yes sir!...that's how I understand it also, I'll be honest and say that I don't use it for fuel all that much but when I do use that part of the app that's how I believe it works!

I can see the "add location" being used for recreational boaters that find a sand bar or cove that they like.

Blocked faults: I'm pretty sure if you have a nuisance fault, like "trim sensor not in proper range" or something like that, you can block it from popping up until you fix whatever it is. Mine popped a number of these codes with key on, but not running, so we will see what happens when I run the motor.
Correct, when you throw a code while running you can block it from showing on the main screen as a warning. When you block it you won’t see it again which is why there is a menu to look at previously blocked trouble codes.
Does it display trim?
Does it stay connected to BT all day even when the motor is turned off, or do you have to go through linking each time you move?

Thanks Randy!...I actually show where I mount it in my other video showing the install, I put it on the driver side of the motor on a flat surface using double sided gorilla tape...hope that helps, if you have any other questions let me know!

Hey Jon!...unfortunately the map that ya get with the module is the only one ya can view on the app...there’s no way to view any other mapping on it (that I’m aware of)... thanks for watching!

not sure if it can do it at the same time, but i do know you can have more than one motor hooked into it!...hope that helps somewhat!

Thank you!...and yep, that’s basically the only reason I went with the mobile version...the cost difference is significant for sure...other than that I can’t say there’s any other reason I stuck with the mobile...but I do love the features... thanks for watching!
Does it have warnings for coolant temp and oil pressure that will pop up?
depending on your application, it may...best thing would be to call Mercury directly and tell them what setup you're running and get a definite answer, tight lines man!
Are there different versions of software for this? My screens are a little different then yours! Also, Do I reset my fuel average numbers every time I use the boat? I logged in that I changed the fuel filter and it did not save it in the history or change the number on the service inspect screen. It saved I inspected it not changed it! And-Why replace oil in 35 hours on a DFI engine? A lot of stuff going on here! But great video! Still working on customizing a screen!!!

Hey Greg!...sorry I’m just getting a chance to get back to ya...to customize a screen you just click on the “RPM” area on home screen...that will take you to an area that will allow you to create custom screens, and view ones you already made...as far as the fuel, no don’t reset it every trip...you just add fuel when you fill up, and it’ll give you an estimate on fuel numbers as you go...I’m not sure why our screens would look different, as far as I’m aware there’s only one app for this module and I’m running latest version...hope that helps!
I’m also not sure why it wouldn’t save that you changed fuel filter, it should def save that for ya!
Are you still able to connect to play music while this is connected? I use Bluetooth for my Fusion radio too.
That’s a good question, I haven’t tried to use my SonicHub2 while being connected to it…if I get on the lake this weekend I’ll try it out and let you know!
So I’m assuming your phone needs to be on and the app opened up? You mentioned not being connected so then would you gas consumption really be correct?
Hey Nancy!...yepper, you have to have the app opened up and connected for it to correctly log that info...I honestly don’t use mine much for gas consumption, I did more so in the beginning but just got kinda tired of keeping track of all that...didn’t matter enough to me...haha...thanks for watching!

I was in the window where fuel flow, speed and economy are shown. I hit the button RESET AVERAGES and fuel flow was zeroed out. Is there a way for me to set fuel flow? Been looking for it but no luck so far.
Hmm, I’ll have to take a look at it when I get out to garage...I’m not sure off the top of my head, I haven’t done much with the fuel flow lately so I don’t want to give ya any wrong info...if I can get ya a definitive answer I’ll let ya know asap!

I just installed mine today, I never knew how many hrs on my 150 hp, 2019 bayliner Vr5, does it read the hrs from the ECU, boat used, came up with 465 hrs on the Outboard.. seems like a lot of hrs..
Yea this module reads real time hours, unless there is something wrong with the module the hours would be current/correct…I always feel like mine are higher that I think as well, time flies when you’re having fun…haha

Yepper, it has a map section in the app
I think it uses the GPS in your phone or tablet, just like Waze or Google Maps
No it doesnt it uses your cell service for GPS. no cell service no map.

I never tried to do it at the same time, but I have used my phone and my iPad separately!

My app won't connect unless my phone is in the stern no more than 3feet from the outboard where the Vesselview is mounted. Is this normal? Can't see engine or any other data while I'm driving. Advice.....
I'm sorry, I'm just seeing your question...that isn't normal unfortunately, I have my phone at my console and have no trouble connecting...I would maybe try mounting the module in a different location under the cowling and see if that helps...keep us posted!
