I know this is a few years old, so just curious - did the double sided tape work out well for you? I had the dealer install and apparently it uses the same Terminator connector for mercury vesselview they sent me a junction box but how do you install it with a junction box does It Go by where the motor is the junction box and how does it plug in?

Because of this video I purchased and installed a VesselView Mobile app unit a few months ago. I have been having connection issues on the lake (at home in the garage no issues and I have been on the phone with Mercury Marine). My latest call to Mercury there was a recommendation to move the unit from the left side of the motor to maybe the front or right side because of Bluetooth connectivity. Have you (or any of your subscribers that installed VV) experienced any connections while on the lake?
I have not, thankfully...every time I've connected I don't have any issues, if it keeps happening I would consider having them replace it, may be a bad module...not sure though, since I have never experienced that first hand!

I just listened again and it did clearly state 1-4 engines and you even said it will ask you how many motors and serial numbers. I wasn't a good listener.

thanks for the feedback!...and from my understanding, if you have a terminator cap by your helm, you can absolutely install it there...I've heard of people doing that with no troubles, but can't speak from experience...hope that helps!
Great video a lifesaver I'm terrible with the written directions however I just hooked mine up and it never asked me for the serial number on the motor everything seems to be working though but thanks again. And I mounted it to the same silver plate you had at the bottom of that plate is a bolt that holds another wire harness I undid the bolt and put that computer right there and the boat goes right to it and bolts it back to that silver plate perfectly

@@NitroZ18Fishing Thank you for the fast response. I believe there’s a smartcraft for my type of engines. My engine has a wire with purple cap clip and another wire just laying. The longer wire with a clip but no cap says 84 859244 A2 smartcraft. My outboard has a sticker that says smartcraft too. When I bought my trophy it states that only has 50 hours and all original Manual booklets was included. There one booklet that says smart craft and shows all the contents how it operates. Along the way they must of took off the device off or something happen. But over all my boat operates excellent with engine. Just concerned because dock the boat in the water , turn on the engine so it could warm up as I took the truck and Trailer to go park as I return back to the boat. It was beeping continuously. I check the manual and it says that code beeb men’s engine overheating , It was pissing good, then after a few seconds it beeb twice which means alarm cleared. It literally ruined my fishing trip to Catalina island. I used the boat all day carefully just Incase, but it seem to operate fine. I really need to the status on the engine for confidence and peace of mind. any tips would really be appreciated.

Great Video. My Husband has the same boat but wants to use the Gateway you referred in the video that displays on the lowrance. We were told there should be a junction box underneath the console. Can't find it anywhere! Any ideas on how we can connect?

The junction box is somewhere. On my boat I found it behind the guage area on the dash. The connector for the original smart craft guage comes off and this device goes between the connector TOR and the back of the original smart guage.
Thanks for the video! I used it to install my VesselView within a couple minutes. I noticed that you had the same ProXS 175 motor as me which seems somewhat rare. I did my own 100 hr maintenance and replaced the white fuel filter with the water separator. Do you know if there's another fuel filter anywhere else in the motor? Wanted to make sure I wasn't leaving one out. I haven't been able to find any videos on this specific engine. Thanks!

Yepper, works for 2004 to current engines, 40hp and up…got this following statement directly from Mercury website, “VesselView Mobile is compatible with all SmartCraft-compatible Mercury outboards and sterndrive engines (2004 and newer, 40hp and up).” Hope that helps!
Does the mobile device that is used need to be on a data plan? I have some tablets lying around that I could use wifi for downloading the app, but they are not on a service plan outside of my wifi. I'm not concerned with the location or mapping features. Thanks.
got it from Tuffskinz...awesome company to work with, they have covers premade or you can custom build one like I did to match the boat...they can pretty much design it however you want it!...and the cover itself is the best I've ever had, it's on there 24/7 unless I take it off to clean/dry...I fish and trailer with it on, no trouble with marks on cowling...hope that helps!

that yellow cap is the terminator cap, from my understanding you need it to basically "terminate" the circuit, similar to how you need the terminator ends on a NMEA2000 network...but if you got it working thats great!

@@NitroZ18Fishing yea I was excited to use it. The smart light never illuminated during setup.. some posts on the forums suggest another wire needed to be moved or something. It's a brand new boat/engine..im not and should not have to go messing around with anything other than what it says to do. My engine is specifically listed as supported, it should work.

Even with my motor ignition turned off and phone disconnected, the bluetooth light on the module continues to blink. Does it do this 24/7?

Does the vessel view show previous hours? Or the hours from the point you hook it up onward?
It will show previous hours as well, it gives you the total that's on the engine since day one… Hope that helps!

bought this.... however my 2013 250 optimax pro doesnt have same layout. I do have a big "yellow band"on the harness to a plug going to ECU though..

can you explain to me what the function is of the yellow cap? mine motor is missing that but i have smartcraft en already got connected.

Mine won’t connect. Connections are all correct. Checking forums this is.a common problem,. This product is junk. Don’t buy.

Did you add a yellow termination resistor to the other port?
