We live in Calderdale and were flooded last weekend. We survived without permanent damage because of the investment in flood resilience we've made in our own home - £12,000 from our own packets. Four floods in eight years ... who was asleep at the wheel? The local Tory MP voted against £800 million in flood defence funding. How much do people have to lose to see the damage this party is doing to the country?

What choices do we have? Left, leftist and leftier that all believe in Climate Change so will happily neglect actual preperation if it means that they get more things to "demonstrate climate change" with and earn further subsidies and revenue from Green Tech. Personal mitigation and preparedness is the best way to deal with this all but even that will soon be priced out.

Because we've had an entire generation raised to be dependant on the government to literally think for them, and in this case, the thought is oh no it's climate change and the capitolists and big oil are to blame and the only solution is to ban cars... Installing flood defences and taking preventative measures such as river dredging or home preparation are seen as old fashioned and all old things are bad.

This issue needs 3 pronged approach:
Swales and dams on contour BEFORE the water gets to river systems. This would replenish ground water which is being depleted.
Towns and cities need to implement sunken playgrounds to temporarily store extra run off until the drains can handle it. This helps keep roads clear and doesnt add to the river system immediatly
If you build on a flood plane then regulations should force builders to build properties to be elevated by at least one story and have the lastest in flood protection. This would reduce a lot of issues with property damage, fewer insurance claims. The gov can then help people with disabilities to make it disabled access friendly. Peoples belongings wont be ruined then.
This would save everyone money going forward but no one wants to do it.

Yes, because Bojo believes in the Climate Change narrative and is spending our taxes on banning our cars and removing our petrol stations instead of seeing the rational, realistic side of the issue that the change will happen regardless as it has even without humans and we should be preparing and building mitigation or migrating small areas of towns out of danger if needed. Agree. Of course Countries many are ready. So far is not a pandemic out side of China. It would be considered a pandemic when people might start dying in hundreds or thousands. By catastrophysing when we are not even close at this. We need to be careful not make people get in real paranoya. Drs are Learning more and more. Unfortunately it happened in a time of big holidays. I don't see this virus spreading drastically in Europe. There many Countries that not don't have not even case. Like Latin America and others. So far is like theory probability meaning it might happen or not . Predicting is very hard even from super experts. It helps for making plans and development. I don't see becoming an dangerous pandemic. We need be rational. By panicking does not help. And some of the media aee not helping. With out having tangible statistics and using words like: we all going to died. It won't happen. I have been commenting about the 1918 influenza for a while. From history the the 1918 (by the way) the first has been mentioned. The worst pandemic in whole history was in 1918. virus occurred in America. Originated in Kansas, the government was to blame for acting sooner. It killed about 50 million to died and 500 million infected. This wont happen since then health study wore not prepared for it. The vaccine was created in 1930. The most healthy wore dying. The masks do work other wise there death there would a horrific issue. The virus is hear all we should help by helping sending need it supply to China. I joined a Chinese church that are working hard to send China pakegines to help by donating money. I donated 400 $. Those who can't donate 2$ that can result in millions. By doing that we help each other. Many Chinese organization and other Countries are donating what they can. RussIa had help. let's humanity ckiking and help. I have no doubt this virus will pass. And Chinese drs are sacrephing their lifes to help. The world health organization are sending specialist are send to help and come up solutions. Also it won't be like the black plague occurred in Europe. And people wore closed in there houses to diy and putting crosses on their doors. Viruses don't discriminate. At those difficult time. It didn't not spread to other Countries. It also depends on humans dnya. Many when infected did not die. Same is today some dnya system because they have such DNA don't die. I pray every day. I don't fear helping the Chinese organization outside China by helping them even I'm risking my life. Human beings reaction diffently. And I understand since people I afraid of death. I honestly don't. No news reported that 36,000 American diy yearly fru, influenza. My friend died this way. Even with flue shots 1,000 million died from mosquitoes, aides. And there still are being discriminate. yearly in America die . But we got used to it And don't pay attention. Please let's get together and help. And stop the zinophobia that innocent Chinese people don't deserve. I read some comments that make me sick. Because luck of knowledge(ignorance). I almost lost my life when I was 21 one. And would do it again. Please share if one has companion and understanding.
