I see Jiutian Xuannu, the Taoist Goddess of Sex and War, to be a symbol of the transformative energy that converts Yin to Yang and Yang to Yin. This is the energy that drives the momentum of Tao. Which is also why she is called the Mother of the Void, once again, representing the momentum of Tao, the energy that makes things happen out of the nothing. And once again, why she rides a phoenix, which once again represents transformation, the cycle of creation and destruction. Sex and war, creation and destruction. Therefore, once again, the principle of Wu Wei, allowing the transformation of events over time, i.e. the flow of the Tao, and to move with them instead of against them, is how I feel Jiutian Xuannu is best received. Acceptance that creation and destruction in small and large things are just the waves of life that carry us up and down, and therefore knowing that acceptance of Her as a symbol with this role, means that we choose to accept that transformative energy.

really well-done presentation; this is is such an interesting topic. i can't help but notice the similarities and parallels of of jiu tian xuan nu's mythology and that of aradia, daughter of diana and her similar functions within the european witchcraft traditions (while also seeing the unique and completely different elements, of course... last emperor of shang warning fully understood!). its amazing how the same themes and symbols make an appearance regardless of culture and geographical location.

I vaguely remember something about a 'xuan men'. As for that aspect that men find titillating, well, now... I happen to be lonely for some female companionship, wanting to spend time with a nice woman who has an income and her own place, but I'm 51, in the no more kids club, and I don’t want some "dragon lady." In the meantime, I'll step up the training, do a better job of guarding the three treasures, stick to the precepts and what-not. NAMO BUDDHĀYA! Amituofo!

I practice a type of celestial/healing qi gong called the flying phoenix taught by Terrence Dunn. The legend of its origin is that a daoist monk was taught it in the ermei mountain by a goddess.
Its very powerful.

Can not wait for this book. Have been looking for more information since the first time I heard (or read really don't remember) you talking about her. I found this wonderful video here on TH-cam that seemed to be a priestess of some sort, dressed as her.. taking on her God Form perhaps... blessing a restaurant. It looked like it was either a new restaurant or.. had just been so completely cleaned that it looked brand new. The priestess or shaman looked too old for the part I thought at first but she moved around the restaurant with a sense of authority about her.. and.. posed in ways that seemed like some sort of dance that I was only getting still photos of even though she was moving.. meaning there was more to the movement than seen by the eye... she made the most remarkable gestures that told me that no matter how old I get or how much I think I know.. there is so much more to learn. At first I thought it was kind of silly watching this woman move around this room doing magic on this restaurant but then.. I had to think how goofy I might look in my black robe waving my dagger around and belting out archangel names. The restaurant workers showed her so much more respect than I think I would ever get is someone wanted me to do magic for them. It was an exciting vid even though I didn't speak the language. I'm really looking for the book Bell... thank you so much for this vid.

I remember being a freshman studying "ultimate truth theory." Some years ago. And I remarked to a teachers assistant "why can't the ultimate be ever changing and evolving." I have often since encountered many people who equate perfection or truth, with in my words stasis and unchangingness. From other videos you have made I now interpret this as the western mindset. Very intrigued by this ive never heard of the lady of 9 heavens but i have heard of many other belief systems of 9 like the 9 realms that are held together by yggdrasil the world tree with Odin being the ruler of the 9 realms or 9 worlds. Also has a similar name Odin is said to translate to Old English as Wōden, in Old Saxon as Uuôden, in Old Dutch as Wuodan in Old Frisian as Wêda, and in Old High German as Wuotan, all ultimately stemming from the Proto-Germanic theonym *Wōðanaz, meaning 'lord of frenzy', or 'leader of the possessed'.

Thanks Teacher Benebell , jiu tian Xuan nu never really appear to me but I know from year 2004 n now year 2024 … there are shi fu all asking about do I know why from young, I got someone teach me chanting in my dream n I got the power but deep down my heart I know there is a teacher or mother teaching me , how not to fear of negative or devils and also I can see wandering spirits n I know how to chant n they knodded head n go off …, but in my 30 years ago I see virgin mother mary in Catholic Church in my Paris trip …u believe ? I’m confuse m I belong to toaist or catholic … im toaist but 5 years ago I baptised because of my late mum seen virgin mother mary too n got emergency ward so baptism carries in hospital w my kids …. I did want to share that I do feel 九天玄女and Athena’s energy signature is similar. Wisdom, Justice, War strategy, Arts and Crafts ✨ and that if I do go to Taiwan, I go to see 九天玄女here at 玉皇宮(高雄市天公廟) as well as 斗姥元君. She only shows up for me in a big/dire situation and wants me to figure it out on my own 😅 such is my relationship with her. ❤ looking forward to going through your channel and your new videos!

Benebell, I'm wondering what your thoughts are on cross-cultural conflation?
When I took your class on the I Ching, I noticed commonalities with Lady of the Ninth Heaven and the Irish Goddess The Morrigan.
In both of their myths they help mythical deified kings to win battles using occult means. Both battles include the theme of magically conjured fog/mist. (granted, The Morrigan is the source of it in her myth). Both are linked to birds and both have references to using stances when working battle magic that depicts them as standing on one leg and weilding a sword. Also they both have that syncratism with an ancestral mother goddess.
So, could they be just similar beings? Are they the same being expressed via different cultural lenses? Is it a coincidence (if coincidence is ever a thing in an occult sense)?
As I said, I've thought about it for a while and although no-one can 'know' for sure, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I think when we start talking about pantheons, we’re going to be seeing gods and goddesses embodying an archetype that will have some common denominator intuitive attributions. There’s something universal in the core of, say, what will give solace to a warrior heading into battle. So there will be striking similarities to how different cultures personify mythic divine beings who protect warriors, and yet equally there will be striking differences based on how societies conceptualize the philosophy of war.
Each person will induce something different from their observations of cross-cultural similarities, and also to what extent a person likes to focus on the differences. I don’t feel strongly one way or another. I just focus on the personal devotional aspects that give center to my faith. :-p

I have purchased both Tao of Craft and your I Ching and there's just one thing I'm confused about: Surrounding the seal of the Lady of the Ninth Heaven in one diagram and the Early and Later Ba Gua in another are 36 hexagrams. I've gone page by page with other readers and we can't find any reference to these 36 hexagrams!! Can you please tell us the significance of these hexagrams?!

Ng Mui (Chinese: t 伍枚, p Wú Méi; Cantonese: Ng5 Mui4) is said to have been one of the legendary Five Elders-survivors of the destruction of the Shaolin Temple by the Qing Dynasty. According to legend she is said to have been a master of various martial arts. She came to Shanghai and founded a school of Kung Fu.

Sharing the record of my studies that were propelled with this video of yours, my first answer to my first question above, after my initial incursions to you I-Ching and Tao of the Craft. Now it seems more adequate to portrait that Hekate would more likely be seen as a ancient western Primordial Deity like Shen Mu, even more so if we see Hekate as Cosmic World's Soul, as in Chaldean Oracles. I felt like to share this unasked reflection, that now is less of a question, but, if you or someone else have thoughts to exchange on this topic, would be nice to know.

Is The Lady of the Nineth Heaven someone who only works with Taoist/Buddhist practitioners? I'm super interested in working with her and building a relationship but I feel like I'm not at a place where taking up a whole tradition would be a good idea. When I say that though I don't mean I wouldn't approach her from the appropriate cultural context, not trying to make her a Wiccan goddess or anything lol just wondering if not being a self declared Taoist/Buddhist and upholding those vows and stuff is going to get in the way?
That conditional of requiring one to self-identify with a particular label before deities from that cultural or religious label's pantheon will reach out is more of a Western or European mindset. It's not really one you'll find among East Asian practitioners.
