I don't know if you picked up on this detail but in the next episode, they altered the opening. The last scene of Yuji on the train has him crying since it is the episode after Junpei's death. It hit hard the first time I noticed it
I just want to say that whoever decided to put Junpei dressed in Jujutsu uniform in the intro - I hate them for giving me false hope and dancing on my shattered heart’s grave. Rude and uncalled for 😭
The absolute savagery of Mahito and Sukuna both laughing together at Yuji's despair still gives me chills just thinking about it. Sukuna is not Yuji's friend. Mahito, despite having conversations with him and hanging out with him, is not Junpei's friend. They both laugh at the despair and tragedy of those around them.
FR. I was so positive he was gonna live like, who the hell gave me false hope by putting him in the intro 😭. This also made me realize that this anime might actually surprise me.😊
This is really when it hit me just how terrible Mahito is. He gave Junpei hope and what seemed like genuine friendship at the start, but then he took everything he valued from him, and then took his life in the end, all to get what he wanted. The studio also massively messed with everyone by putting Junpei in the intro just for him to die this early on.
I just wanna say that Yuji being capable of damaging Mahito's soul has nothing to do with Divergent Fist. It is because he is aware of the shape of his own soul, due to housing Sukuna's soul within him. Divergent Fist is simply a delayed second hit caused by his cursed energy lagging behind his body, so that question at the end was a bit mistaken.
I will always remeber the first half of s1 of jjk as the anime where the opening fucking lies to you. Showing junpei with yuji and all of his friends just for him to be killed off before he would ever meet them.
To add some clarification. It's not made very clear IF Sukuna could have helped Junpei. Mahito SPECULATES that he just can't because he refused a pact, their whole goal here is to force Yuji into making a pact, and Mahito literally just heard Yuji say "Fix Junpei and I'll agree to ANY demands" and Sukuna refused. The only reason Mahito could think of was that Sukuna doesn't have the ability to heal others. What he DOESN'T know, and what Yuji doesn't know either, is they already HAVE a pact. Sukuna healed Yuji's heart in exchange for making a pact, so Sukuna already got what he wanted, though we don't know the details of his motivations, so he doesn't need Yuji's new offer. He can just laugh and refuse. He doesn't say he CAN'T when refusing the deal, he just says he won't, so that could mean he CAN do it but he won't, or it could be him talking himself up and pretending like maybe he could but he just won't for laughs even though he doesn't have the ability anyway. Whatever it is, the reason he refused the pact is because they already had one, which Mahito wasn't aware of.
It’s still very likely Sukana couldn’t heal Jumpei Manga spoilers kinda We never see him use reverse cursed techniques to heal others, assuming ideal transfiguration is even something that could be healed by reverse cursed technique. The real spoiler no joke turn back now He only made the pact to take Megumi’s soul/cursed technique

Did me dirty with the opening making me think that Junpei would join the gang ;-; Also that line "The next words that spilled from my lips, came from so deep within my gut that it nearly made everything I've ever said feel like a lie" goes so hard
My favorite part of yuji calling them both curses when they laugh at him, is that one is a human and the other is a curse made of humans, I sure do wonder if the author is trying to tell us something about human nature
It wasn’t just Mahito, this whole rotten world killed Junpei and his Mom. Junpei was beyond correct, the darker side of human nature did in fact use their malicious hearts to curse them both.
He and his mother were killed by demons not society. Junpei chose hate and isolation and was used by ppl/demons who know that you’re the weakest the more isolated from society you are.
@@forever_noir_2155 the thing is that the "demons" of this universe are born from society's fear and hatred. Mahito is literally the embodiment of society's hatred and malintent towards others. He preyed on Junpei (the weakened and downtrodden) because that is what society's dark side does too. It was society who created the 2 kinds of monsters that brutally abused Junpei, to death in the end. One the human kind (his school bullies, which is a real thing that has happened and happens in our reality) and the other the supernatural kind (clearly unique to this universe, but still canonically birthed by society). And it was society also who turned a blind eye to said abuse. And only when one of the abusers perished was when a tiny group within said society actually stepped in, but they didn't even do it for Junpei in the first place, which only adds more to the point. If you make a bomb and the bomb explodes you don't get to say that it was only the bomb's fault. Same here. The individual abusers are still bad and at fault (and more than anyone else, that's why IRL those are the ones that get judged), but society, even if done by proxy, is ultimately at fault and responsible too.

@pj_spirit He split his soul into his twenty fingers and they became cursed objects. He isn't a curse because he can use RCT. RCT kills curses on impact as it is the opposite of what makes a curse a curse, RCT obliterates curses.
@@KrayzieStiles Ok, and? He incarnated into Yuji's physical body so he doesn't have the body of a curse. Other curses consume curses to get stronger. How do we know that? I know i’m a bit ahead of the series in terms of this question but i was wondering what your plans were for season 2 episode 17? As you may be aware brutal time constraints that the animators worked through during the production of season 2 lead to multiple episodes being released in an “unfinished” state. 2x17 suffers the most from these time constraints, but the blu ray version released later on shows the animators full and completed vision for the episode. Personally, I believe that both versions are brilliant in their own way and worth reacting to, so I was wondering if you’d swap to blu ray for that episode or continue with the original version?
This has been brought up a few times on Patreon. The thing is season 2's blu ray doesn't seem to have a dub version. They could always watch the completed version of episode 17 after the original if the demand is high enough.
How in the hell are people saying the dub has no emotion? Am I missing something because I can clearly tell how emotional and upset Junpei and Itadori are over what is happening. Can someone please explain it to me?
For anyone who's seen Naruto, or anime with a similar premise, this show does such a good job of subverting your expectations about how similar Yuji's relationship with Sukuna is to Naruto's relationship with the 9 tailed fox. You'd expect the protagonist, in times of serious danger and stress, to be able to call on the demon possessing them, to negotiate to use their power, and that they'll be eminently reasonable about it. There's danger they'll take over in the exchange, sure, but the tradeoff is the raw power the protagonist gets from being possessed by them. NOT here. Sukuna is nothing but a danger and a liability in combat. He cares much more about doing maximum harm and suffering than he does about getting some material advantage. He's not desperate to get the fingers assembled like the 9 tails would be to get a foothold over Naruto and weaken his seal, Yuji hasn't and won't earn his begrudging respect, surrender, and cooperation, he's just as malicious and cruel as Mahito, moreso even.
I would love to see these two react to 'Yu Yu Hakusho' after My Hero Academia. (The latter has more episodes, and it's still ongoing. Plus, if they're looking for a dark Shounen anime like Jujutsu Kaisen. Then this would be the perfect choice.)
