    A light coat of waxoyl under those arches will see them through and probably outlast you haha. Waxoyl is great as it doesn’t ever really harden it just seeps into all the seems and any chips in the paint through capillary action. Its also breathable so it’ll always keep the water out. Great job for keeping rust at bay ive some stuff here that got a light coat 10 yrs ago and not a spec of rust on them now.

    Would you not spray the inside of the mudguards with stone chip protection . Would be a lot better than normal black paint

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had considered it but my paint supplies said it’s a waste of time because it still chips. So I opted not to. I’m just going on what he said

    • @cowboysdontcare8486
      @cowboysdontcare8486 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agri farming Ireland stone chip is also a waste of time on rusty surfaces. For all ya know the inside surface could be rusting away, but by looking at the outside hard shell you’d think it’s fine

      @agrifarmingireland1604 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cowboys Dont care if it’s prepped properly and all the rust is removed stone chip if it’s applied right makes a good job out of the mudguards

    Great job! What size of air compressor are you using for your paint gun? Is there and act to mixing paint correctly for spraying? Got most of the kit and paint ready to tidy up our old JD1950 but not had any experience using a spray gun!

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s only a standard enough. Tank is about 3ft long and 14-16” high. Your local paint shop will tell you what ratios to mix your paint depending if it’s got a hardener or just tinkers to be mixed. If you have a heater and can take the cold out of metal it’s a great help. Turn the paint down to a low flow out of the spray gun and that’ll give u a chance to get used to it. It’s pretty simple once you get going.

    Well Gerry what compressor are you running the blaster with?

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don’t know the capacity but it’s big enough. Just the electric motor type. Fine for norm mechanic works. But It won’t build up pressure fast enough for this job. It’s why sand blasters use the engined wheel compressors. They have constant pressure.

    • @robhall912
      @robhall912 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea we've the same type of compressor, 200l motor type but some of the panels on tractors here are going the same as users and when i seen this, I got to thinking about picking up one of the pots to do small bits.

    Hello young man, I would use Everbuild Blackjack DPM on the underside of the wheelarches, it doesn't go rock hard but does a great job and is better than underseal. I have used it on many things including the underside of a wooden trailer floor. Just an idea!
