    As the release draws in, here's a (spoiler-free) sample of Enderal and it's English voice acting.
    Credit to Jack DeGolia for providing the excellent voice acting! You will hear more from him and over 30 other English voice actors in the English version of Enderal. (www.jackwestcoa...)
    Music composed by Marvin Kopp and Nicolas Lietzau, Art by Marcel Schmid.

    Both art and music are amazing. At first, the voice caught me a bit off-guard, but I still grew to like it.
    The art, in particular, reminds me of games like DA:1 or Tyranny that made use of similar styles - not that I really understand anything about art. Needless to say, I'm loving it!
    I also like the writing of the intro on a technical level. It serves not only as a very soft introduction to the world, it also manages to introduce the central theme of the game without spoiling anything. The ending, specifically, coming back full circle from the first lines, is iconic and deep.
    Well done.

    So more than Bethesda ever bothered to hire for their Elder Scrolls games?

    • @SureAITeam
      @SureAITeam  8 ปีที่แล้ว +99

      +Randomness65535 I think Skyrim featured over 70 voice actors (Source: elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Voice_Cast_%28Skyrim%29), so it's not more than in Skyrim; however, except for some of the generic NPCs, you hardly notice the repetition. :)

    • @Randomness65535
      @Randomness65535 8 ปีที่แล้ว +71

      SureAI
      I was just overly exaggerating, but it never really felt like 70 actors, because it felt like the majority of NPCs are voiced by the minority of the actors (iirc a lot of actors voiced only one NPC) And they were voiced, well, the same way. Sure, people of the same 'race' will have similar voices, but people speak differently. People use different vocabularies, have their own little 'tics' in speech, and so on. You know how it is. Although perhaps it's a problem of writing, not the fault of the actors.

      +Kofta 2 Thing is, there are nords in markarth that have the same voices as bretons in windhelm. Redguard in solitude sounds exactly like a wood elf in riften. no differences at all in race characteristics or dialects when they speak. Id rather have generalized race voices like those from morrowind. One voice actor per gender for each race. And unique voices for major characters of course.

    • @andreasnilsson2057
      @andreasnilsson2057 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Well, personally, I think it's more immersion breaking to find a Nord that sounds as wimpy as a bosmer. And vice versa. One thing I always remember is how people talk and it's no fun finding people from different races talk the same with the exact same dialects. Brelyna maryon is a dunmer, and shouldn't sound like she was the Jarl of solitude.

      I'm necro-posting I know, but... the Sun/Earth has a very real 12-13,000 year cycle, and the last one is commonly called the 'Ice Age.' It was 12-13kya now. Every other nearby star in the galaxy, but between the center of the galaxy and our solar system, has had a 'recurrent micro novae,' which means a star forms a light dust shell, and bursts in all directions. From there, our planet suffers a 'geomagnetic excursion,' where the magnetic poles become erratic and/or flip completely, the magnetic field greatly weakens, the Earth's crust slips on the lithosphere, we get new physical poles, and earthquakes, volcanoes, and massive waves follow. The field is already weakening fast, and the northern magnetic pole is moving much faster than ever seen. All the terms I used are on wiki, all mainstream, but just not talked about ever.

      When Calia was 'hit by the rocks' by the end of the game (as Thealor said) I couldn't believe she would be dead. Until she finally showed up again in the last fight I could only think of her. The characters are so unbelievable well written and with a very deep personality that you really start to think and worry about them.

    • @wertzuuu1788
      @wertzuuu1788 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@red_dll Fair enough. Though, I am kinda happy it ended the way it did. Not many games have that, you know? And it's good that way. Because the main quest is like the final path once you are ready to end your journey. And I understand you. I was sad and upset about the ending at first, too, but then I realized what it actually is trying to tell me. I think that the ending is better than making you the hero, because it shows you that you've failed because you were driven by seeing yourself as someone better. Someone stronger. These events followed for thousands of generations, the fact that you were able to stop it by speaking with the Black Guardian isn't a loss. Maybe in your eyes, yes, but this may as well have been the last Cleansing to ever happen, and in the end you are a hero. You lost so others could triumph. That's something worth doing. Feel free to point out if I'm wrong about anything, I enjoy reading these comments.

    Let's begin with a question.
    It might sound simple to you at first,
    but i pray you to think about it.
    "What distinguishes a free man from a slave?"
    For now, hovewer, let us start this story
    Where another one ended 3 years ago
    With the death of the Light-Born.
    For 4000 years they have reigned over this world.
    Seven arcanists, who through their magic,
    Had acquired eternal life.
    In a time of chaos,
    They gave mankind what they thought it needed most.
    They ruled over with an ironclad, but fair hand.
    Within just one century,
    They united the shattered lands
    And a single century later,
    Their human origin was forgotten.
    They became gods or 'Light-Born'
    As they let themselves be worshipped as.
    Yet, the longer they reigned,
    The louder voices grew
    That accused them of tyranny.
    The loudest one being that of Narathzul Arantheal.
    "Das einzige leuchtende an Religion ist ein
    brennender Tempel in der Nacht!"
    And he succedeed in achieving
    Of what once thought impossible;
    He gathered an army, overturned
    The Light-Born and gave back
    Freedom to mankind.
    However, the price for this was high.
    Because, where there are gaps of power,
    Fights erupt.
    As such, this world grew
    Into what it is today.
    Shattered, riven, and broken into pieces.
    But, all of this was merely a diversion
    So that no one would notice something else.
    The death of the Light-Born
    Had set something into motion.
    Clockwork, having long stood still,
    It's gears now once again
    Slowly began to turn.
    This is the story of someone,
    Who wanted to be free.

    Something I noticed after watching this (spoiler warning):
    The narrator of this cutscene is the same voice actor that voiced the Aged Man. The Aged Man, according to legend and your eventual encounter with him, does not age and is apparently unaffected by the cleansing or the cycle.
    This would seem to indicate one of two things: that the Aged Man is either a Fleshless One like the player, or something similar. Whether or not he's actually working with or against the High Ones is unknown, though my guess is that he's neutral to the situation, as he states that he is "just an observer" to the events to come. Seemingly, this is him telling of the beginning to the player's story, meaning he either knew what would happen, or lived through and witnessed the events of the game. But that's just my speculation.

    • @justinkoprowski8443
      @justinkoprowski8443 6 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      WolfeSpeider I always guessed he was fleshless, because like your player character, they can flee with a loved one to escape the cycle. In the aged mans house, he has the woman in the water that can talk and sees you as the aged man (as you both are fleshless). Just spitballing

    • @WolfeSpeider
      @WolfeSpeider 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I completely forgot about that, definitely could be the case. His manor itself could also be similar to the floating city in the way that it's a last bastion for the player and their companion, one that through time, could eventually be manipulated by the player's magic, as the Aged Man could potentially be doing with his own.

      well in this game case, what about how does a "free man" knows he's free, and Can a slave feel free.
      because this is the story of someone who wanted to be free
      At same time this is the story of someone who cannot be free

    • @szarekhtheimmortal2293

      @@m1.01zahranormansyah4 Obvious spoilers for the ending of Enderal, play it, it's amazing.
      You're right for most of the game except I think you're wrong in the bigger picture. You're not free, that sure as hell is true throughout the game and the High Ones will tell you that a lot (bunch of assholes). But what happens at the end, (though the events that propelled you to it were out of your control), is that you make a choice. Like he said: a man chooses, a slave obeys. For the first time in the main quest, you are making a choice that will have meaningful consequences for this world. and with that, you finally free yourselves of your masters: the High Ones, the Cycle, and the Veiled Lady, aka fate itself (in a way, at least. It's really hard to say what she is for sure and kinda likes you anyway, so really it's just weird). And when that happen, you become something stronger than any other fleshless.
      Now that I think about it, it's probably why you're alive after Aerantheal leaves you to die in the Pyrean city. When fleshless are born, they are granted their last human wish. Charisma, power, revenge and all that good shit. You, on the other hand, wished to be free (makes sense with the way you die). That wish HAS to be granted, despite what the High Ones want, it's a part of the deal. And like that, even though you help trigger the cycle, you break free of your chains and become an anomaly. An anomaly that can break the cycle. Ironic: it grants these wishes to trigger the Cycle, and break it by granting one.
      (or you die five minutes later to give the torch to someone else, but I think the sacrifice ending is not the way to go, though less painful and looking more like an ending).
      That or my analysis is dumb, I didn't get the message and you're actually right. In any case, I love this game and especially its endings to death.

    This opening really made me question whether or not the Aedra and Daedra are really gods or were also just mortals who became immortal through their magical prowess or artifacts or any other means. It has certainly happened a few times in Elder Scrolls lore. Take the Tribunal for example. It's already implied that the lore can not be completely trusted as just like in real life, stories get passed down over time and details are changed or forgotten with time. Plus they don't really ever refer to themselves as gods. I feel like they ascended to immortality and then promptly fucked off to planes of existence they created that represent how they see themselves while also changing their form to match their own view of themselves as well.

    The thing that distinguishes a free man from a slave is acceptance. To struggle against inevitable fate is as useless as struggling against the grass growing or the sun setting. Slaves are controlled by their circumstances and by their emotions, hiding them and becoming slaves to their own lives. A free man accepts all that comes at him, good or bad. He doesn't tether himself to how things should be, but, how things are.

    So where's the shadow god in all this?
    --
    (SPOILERS FOR NEHRIM, post-mainquest optional quest series!)
    --
    Remember at the soulkeeper temples, when you were trapped for a second time after you temporarily recovered the Soul Flayer? You're in stasis for who knows how long; and when you're finally freed there are a bunch of wisps and zombies wandering the halls where your jailers once were.
    Sure, zombies can be whipped up by dark magic, but there's no handy necromancers nearby. Easier to think of Nehrim's shadow god as being trapped for several years, conveniently through the period of this turmoil, while the dead soulkeeper's bodies rotted away and became possessed by the incorporeal souls wandering around the place after the disastrous Soul Flayer ritual.
    I still don't know who freed you, in english translation it's only "High" and I really have no idea... but it does explain away the Shadow God being conspicuously absent.
