Fucking hilarious. The scale of the intro makes the city look bigger than it actually is, but then they zoom in and you have these giant ass guards patrolling the streets.
Red Judas all elder scrolls cities and towns are scaled down. If it was realistic they would all be 10x bigger. Im sure the capital wouldn't have a population of 100. It's just because they don't want to go the extra length. Same with the size of the map.

for 9 years i have played Oblivion, but i have never beaten Oblivion's Main Quest, these are the closing days of my cartage of Oblivion and the final hours. Of my childhood
The 2000's were the absolute BEST years to be a teenager if you loved video games. We had Halo CE, 2, and 3, Starwars Battlefront 1 and 2, Halflife 2, Oblivion, Bioshock, Mercenaries, and MW 1 and 2 just to name a few. There has never been a better time for truly legendary games since then, and I truly stand by that.
I remember just hitting that age, I'd sneak into my older brother's room to play Oblivion and Mass Effect on his 360 when he wasn't home. Even though things weren't perfect back then I miss those days so much.
i respect your opinion, though i could argue argue that early to middle 2010s were much better (black ops, gta v, minecraft, skyrim, dark souls, mass effect 2, red dead, new vegas, league of legends and also csgo but a bit later)
@@doupt Everyone has their favorite decade for games. The 2000's were just the decade of my teenage years so they were what built my love for gaming. You're right though, the 2010's did have some amazing games, though I personally wouldn't consider Dark Souls to be among them that game was infuriating 😂
This is to date the best game introduction i've ever seen. It establishes a brief intro the the plot and world, feels epic and narrates in a competent and profound manner.
No matter how many times I listen to this, I still get goosebumps as the music rises around the White Tower. This is by far the best music in the series thus far, even beating out the awesome chanting of the Nords in Skyrim.
When he sais :" This is the 27th of last seed. The year of Akatosh 433. These are the closing days of the third era and the final hours of my life!" I get the greatest goosebumps of my life over and over again. Jeremy Souls music makes it perfect.
My first ever Elder Scrolls and I was totally blown away. Before this I had not known what a game with a great storyline was. To this day remains one of the few games I truly respect.
This is a masterwork intro. The music plays a main role here. A total hit. Pitty it doesn't last longer. Actually this is one of the best games' soundtrack IMHO. The main themes are all in the intro, you can barely hear the initial arpegio, that will be used afterwards... I also love the Battle theme 5, very strong!
This game had a lot of acting talent. Patrick Stewart, Sean Bean, Terrance Stamp, Lynda Carter, Wes Johnson and Jeff Baker. When you have Captain Picard, 006, Wonder Woman, Sheogorath, Saint Juib and Mother Fucking Zod in your cast, you know you have an epic story to tell.
This opening makes tears of nostalgia run down my face. I still remember playing this game every waking moment I got on 360 at my grandparents house as kid. It kinda sucks we live in the timeline where Skyrim got a million re-releases/remasters over the years and Oblivion can't get one.
It's a bit of an awkward one this one. The bit where the camera swoops across the basin towards the city is the bit where I get a little teary eyed, and that's before the dramatic awesomeness starts. I can't tell whether as a dude I'm just being a bit odd, or whether I'm witnessing a crowning moment of awesome :).
I started with Skyrim. Didn't wanted to play previous titles because they were very old for my taste but boy I was in for surprise when I finally played Oblivion and was greeted by this amazing opening
I found Oblivion a lot more enjoyable than Skyrim. Don't get me wrong, Skyrim was a great game and at first I absolutely loved it, but eventually Skyrim got really boring and I felt like the gameplay had become dull. With Oblivion it never felt that way and I still play Oblivion today. (I do really hate the way Argonians look in Oblivion after playing Skyrim though xD) This is just a personal opinion so I'm not stating that Oblivion is better.
Have you ever tried playing an Argonian vampire in Oblivion? My current file is an vampire Argonian Shadowscale. In theory, the most epic thing ever. However, when you become a vampire as an Argonian, your eyes are retextured to look like the eyes of a vampire of any other race, just larger, and it looks so horrible xD
I agree that oblivion was great. It certainly is a great game but i enjoy skyrim more. some say skyrim has lesser things to do and oblivion has more, perhaps. But i have completed all sidestories in oblivion aswell Both got boring to me until i discovered modding and replaying value. The story in these games is so solid and i don't want to pick a favorite. My favorite elder scrolls game is them all combined in this amazing lore and story.
Oblivion seems more like a role play to me. Skyrim does the role play for you... if you get what I mean. Not saying that is a bad thing, not at all! I was just comparing them.

this game was a game changer when it first came out. best RPG game ive ever played. everything was done so beautifully. soundtrack, story and voice actors. sean bean is my favorite actor
What if they made a movie based off TES IV - Oblivion? That would be the perfect scene for opening the movie and showing the title. It's just so perfect.
You couldn't make a movie out of Oblivion, a TV series? Probably, but a movie? You wouldn't be able to cover a fraction of the game, and what would be the point then?
@archbishop of pride natsuki subaru But you wouldn't necessarily have to. You could switch from a single hero to an ensemble cast, split the hero into four or five characters.
Watching this almost everyday. Trully, can't believe it's been 12 years as 1-1-2018, that's unfair. Time is a strange thing. Watching and playing this and Morrowind think it's yesterday first time played it. Man, I lost life somewhere but I keep the spirit.
In fact, I find Skyrim better on many parts, and I do not mean just graphics. There is war with armies (it's a bit shit but still), horses ride alright, and many more. Oblivion isn't bad anyway, dough. Diffrent kinds of horses, Arena, and a lot more, so I call it a tie.
I remember running into a little money when I was younger and going out and buying a 360, Oblivion, and my first home theater system. I hooked it all up, turned it on and my girlfriend and I sat and watched this opening just totally blown away. When the music kicked in around 1:25 my whole apartment shook. I will never forget that or this game, or any of the Elder Scrolls games for that matter. Thank you Bethesda for all of the memories you have given me over the years.

i respect your opinion, though i could argue argue that early to middle 2010s were much better (black ops, gta v, minecraft, skyrim, dark souls, mass effect 2, red dead, new vegas, league of legends and also csgo but a bit later)
@@doupt Everyone has their favorite decade for games. The 2000's were just the decade of my teenage years so they were what built my love for gaming. You're right though, the 2010's did have some amazing games, though I personally wouldn't consider Dark Souls to be among them that game was infuriating 😂
People still clamour for a remake of this. Oblivion remains one of the greatest games ever made, in my opinion.
GOD DAMN! THE CHILLS YOU GET FROM THIS VIDEO!
I played Oblivion after Skyrim, but this gave me goosebumps, currently playing it with happiness
This is to date the best game introduction i've ever seen.
It establishes a brief intro the the plot and world, feels epic and narrates in a competent and profound manner.
It's the 16th anniversary of Oblivion
Ngl, this is the best game intro i have ever seen.
Happy 15 years, Oblivion.
No matter how many times I listen to this, I still get goosebumps as the music rises around the White Tower. This is by far the best music in the series thus far, even beating out the awesome chanting of the Nords in Skyrim.
Gives me chills every time. Love it.
I can close my eyes, and remember when I first heard this and remember when life was better.
When he sais :" This is the 27th of last seed. The year of Akatosh 433. These are the closing days of the third era and the final hours of my life!" I get the greatest goosebumps of my life over and over again. Jeremy Souls music makes it perfect.
the best intro to any game ever
Damn, I got really happy hearing this intro once again. Best Game EVER.
Imo not the best game ever.
9 years later… What an amazing game.
the best part of the intro is when he says "these are the closing days of the third Era... and the final hours of my life"
9 years later, still epicly amazing!
*10
This opening makes tears of nostalgia run down my face. I still remember playing this game every waking moment I got on 360 at my grandparents house as kid. It kinda sucks we live in the timeline where Skyrim got a million re-releases/remasters over the years and Oblivion can't get one.
there was information in the news that someone is developing Oblivion remaster, I hope it’s true
Didn't wanted to play previous titles because they were very old for my taste but boy I was in for surprise when I finally played Oblivion and was
greeted by this amazing opening
I remember the first time i played this game and saw that intro for the first time. One word: EPIC
Brought tears of joy, thank you 😊
I found Oblivion a lot more enjoyable than Skyrim.
SenseiMewtwo12345 You have inspired me to become a vampire. My favourite race is definitely Argonians so I don't need to change that.
How does Skyrim role play for you? Sure, youre the Dragonborn, but all that meant to me was another skill that I could choose to master.
Absolutely great voice casting for this game, no cap.
I love this intro. One of the best game openings ever and it stirs so many emotions in me whenever I watch it. :)
This is my favourite intro to any game. So epic
Notice how big the guard are at 1:57
He takes opp the hole street.
My friend Ammo Man said this is the best cinematic opening he had ever seen.
Best elderscrolls game ever made.
Just saw the Skyblivion trailer and had to come and stop by to re-live the OG intro. This game really is a timeless master piece.
And some people still say that games are not art. Well fuck them.
Ah, my childhood. This intro never ceases to give me goosebumps. Brilliant game!
Just the intro makes me want to play it again.
Every now and the I watch the intro of Oblivion and it still gives me the chills like the very first time. Great game and best intro ever made
"I was born 87 years ago. For 65 years I've ruled as Tamriel's emperor. But for all these years, I've never been the ruler of my own dreams. I have seen the gates of Oblivion, beyond which no waking eye may see. Behold, in darkness a doom sweeps the land. This is the 27th of Last Seed, the year of Akatosh, 433. These are the closing days of the 3rd Era...and the final hours of my life."
The way the theme hits at 1:30 is so fucking great I swear I can't stop replaying it.
this is the most epic into to the best elder scrolls game
These are the final hours of my life…
This intro is still great
im playing through this game again and i feel the same nostalgia i had when i was a kid, good times.
I was born 75 years ago
For 40 years, i've rule as Rome's Emperor
But for all these years, i have never been the ruler of my own life
I've seen the borders of Germannia, beyond which no civilized eye may see...
Behold in Chaos, a barbarian substant future *Alaric, Marthin Luther, Marx, Wilhelm II, Adolf Hitler*
This is the 19th of August, the year of Romulus, 767.
These are the closing decades of the Julio-Claudian Dynasty
And the final seconds...
Of my life...
i bought the game this week and five hours in i love it!!!!. i cant believe passed on this game for ten years!
Man it's weird to think that this is the same emperor that sent you off to Daggerfall to avenge a betrayed king
this game was a game changer when it first came out. best RPG game ive ever played. everything was done so beautifully. soundtrack, story and voice actors. sean bean is my favorite actor
All of the chills, even more of the nostalgia. I don't think I have ever skipped that opening. Ever.
I want to go back and experience this game for the first time ❤ The most amazing and epic game ever. Chills everytime watching this intro
Happy birthday to Oblivion!
This was much better than Skyrim :( !
I played Oblivion , but I think it was not that good
No, it wasn't
MrFreakman0 oh yes it was. if you played it when it came out... my god...
Thats your opinion
1:56 That is one HUGE imperial guard!
lol, ikr! that's what I always thought watching this! I'm glad I'm not the only one that spotted it
Bloody hell I spotted him the first time. Didn't find him huge but you can't miss 'im.
I diddnt really see that he was big buy now that I look at it I realize it
