It's interesting to finally learn who the originators of 'Calabash seafood' actually were, after all these years. As was touched upon, lightly, during the segment - there are a LOT of imitators, and not as many celebrators. The original concept holds much merit, and is an invaluable part of NC lore. My family has been to the three restaurants mentioned, as well as many of the others pictured. Those that stay close to the original 'Calabash style' are far superior...
Been going there 5 generations of my family. The last time I went it was a circus with the new casinos. The resturaunts are way to busy now and the staff were exhausted. It's not the same.
