I have schizoaffective disorder and I’d love to hear about your relationship with your med providers like how often you see them, your relationship with them and if it’s hard for you to trust them. One of my delusions is that I’m being given placebos and they are all laughing at me behind closed doors
Thank you so much for your videos! I had a psychotic episode around a year ago and still struggle with the aftermath, especially the fear of a second episode. Your videos help me alot to understand it better. It would be very cool to have some linked sources to read further. Thank you very much and please keep making videos! 😊❤️
@@Lio-s7v oh that’s a great idea, I’ll start putting stuff in the description! There are so many awesome articles out there that I’d be happy to share. I’m glad you came out of your episode, welcome back to reality!
I mourn with you for the loss of horror from your life lol. I've also kinda stopped watching so much horror but Hellraiser and IT were the best back in the day. Way back I even made everyone watch hellraiser and IT while we dropped sugar cubes and whatnot lol... ugh. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great weekend 🙂
@@cre8ivelife554 haha oh man that is totally something I would do too!! Yeah I miss horror so much. God it was everything to me. I do have a friend who will talk verrrrry carefully with me about it, because I can’t let go of some of my favorites still. It would be cool to get that back someday.
I have many triggers as well....some of them are people but I was a big horror movie fan and now I can't watch them. Sadly Rick and Morty is a trigger of mine, mostly because the negativity of Rick reminds me a lot of my old psychosis self and its what I would watch when I was being gaslit by multiple people. Hearing people say my name in a sentence also triggers me very bad. Ugh! I too work on my triggers and try to make them triggers anymore because i love horror movies and its killing me not to be able to watch something ive loved most of my life. It's very fascinating that the most common triggers for each person is all the stuff they love. I theorize the reason for that is we did all those things we loved while we were in psychosis so we associate those things with being in psychosis so we create a natural fear of those things because we feel are now not in psychosis self doesn't really do those things or avoid those things and people say we are now "normal" or 'better" or 'healthy' and we feel that not doing those things are whats keeping us not in psychosis. Just a theory though. Anyway, great video as always.
@@thenomothete that’s such a great theory. I can really relate to that. It’s like everything in my life got tainted by psychosis & I don’t want any reminder of it, even the things that were good. And I feel you on the horror. I so badly wish I could enjoy it again!!
My psychosis is different from yours. Springtime was a big trigger but it stopped some years ago. I guess my real trigger is loud noises. But then that can affect anyone. I just worried about losing control for most of my life and now it seems an irrational fear. It got off the pot though and that was twenty five years ago. I still have a desire to use and I don't go to meetings. There are none within walking distance. Some people just don't like twelve steps fellowships. I have waffled on the issue. They can help even if you feel like running out of the room. If you have empathy in meetings you can stop using. I have heard a lot of horror stories in the meetings. I didn't use that much, I didn't go down that road very far but I feel I cannot survive another high. My ego is too fragile.
@@shark21790 honestly it is so tricky! I heard that the meds don’t actually treat the negative symptoms like motivation & in that case you’d have to do therapy. I know for me DBT has helped, but there’s also specifically CBT for psychosis.
Thanks for explaining triggers 😊
Awesome video such a great explanation of triggers. When people ask me what my triggers are I always say "so many triggers so little time!"
