Would have loved to have seen the E1A prototype also form the basis of a smaller sub E-Type model that is still a cut-above the Triumph TR4-TR6, powered by all-alloy 2-litre XK4 and 2.4-3-litre XK6 engines.
My Mum and Dad worked next door to Jaguar at GEC in 57/58. My mum was 17 at the time and said she remembers the day they rolled the prototype out of the factory....the whole office emptied into the car park to loo at it.
My Mum saw it rolled out of the factory for the first time, she was working next door to Jaguar at GEC. She said the whole office emptied into the car park to look at it, they had never seen anything like it.
