      If leadership of Taliban in Afghanistan hasn't been airdroped then why there's Sharia slavery instead of Adat and Pashtunwali? Why are there so many limitations? There are only 4 wifes per husband max and other limitations. Did you have such limitations before imposing Sharia "law" by US puppets there?

      While DW is but centrist liberal bs, the Afghan (Afghani is a currency, or do you call British people Pounds and Japanese people Yens?) spokeperson is just a fundamentalist fascist, theocratic totalitarian or any number of other appropriate alliteration of the same sentiment, they are actively repressing free press, women, atheist, apostates, LGBT+, etc. the question, why should that behaviour be recognized as governance? a nation has a right to self determination, you decide when you are a nation, but a country is only created out of other countries recognition of a peer, which is why there are several countries which are not really countries and vice versa. They are both awful people but one holds beliefs more reprehensible than the other.

If you don't want to murder your economy, you need to engage with the international trading and banking system, and to do that you need international recognition. Afghanistan's economic capacity has plummeted since having its foreign aid instantly severed (85% of the old government's source of revenue) and being stonewalled from international trading and banking, and it's not going to get any better until it has access to at least those last two things.

    • @Arcaryon
      @Arcaryon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      The Taliban are not just a normal fundamentalist regime. They used literal terrorist attacks & killed thousands of their own people.
      That is not like the extremely unfortunate "collateral damage" that happens during all major wars.
      Intentionally murdering civilians to increase unrest is not tolerable. It’s monstrous.
      This isn’t like attacking a hostile force. It is cold blooded, well calculated mass murder to use, as the name clearly states, terror, in order to reach a desired outcome.
      It’s cowardly and, because it can not be described differently, evil.
      If they were fairly normal, somewhat idealistic freedom fighters like the Vietkong I wouldn’t be saying that.
      What’s the point?
      Journalists should always ask uncomfortable questions.
      And the Taliban in particular should have some very good answers.
      So where is the issue? He didn’t interrupt, he gave him time to answer, he obviously wasn’t going to have a friendly chat for a breakfast television program but while his tone was particular, that hardly qualifies as pushing an agenda. Leading the interview in a certain way is natural because let’s face it, this isn’t going to be about the next tax policy of a local party, its about the fate of 40 million people under an entirely new leadership.
      Asking about rumors is also a perfectly viable question because it gives the opportunity to defend one’s position or state differing opinions.
      Pushing an agenda would be to not have an interview at all.

      @@hc3657 Not true. America supported Afghanistan for 20 years and was tired of the forever wars. America also thought that the people of Afghanistan would fight to keep the gains made, especially by women in the country. During America's time in Afghanistan, women were journalists, politicians, doctors, judges, and more. The men of Afghanistan had the same gains and more. The government was not perfect but No government is perfect. Also, no one thought Afghanistan, with so much to lose including free elections, wouldn't fight to keep their democracy. If Joe Biden didn't care about Afghanistan people, he wouldn't have airlifted over 100 thousand to safety. He also wouldn't have allowed almost one billion dollars worth of humanitarian aid to be given to the country after leaving if he and America didn't care for the Afghanistan people. But America can't fight the battle of another country forever. While the USA was in Afghanistan, the Taliban were blocked. Sooner or later, if the Afghanistan people want freedom, they need to stand up to the Taliban for themselves. The Taliban are only a group of maybe 100 thousand. The people of Afghanistan are 40 million. What they accept for a government is really their choice.

      @@User-xw5mk The USA airlifted the citizens of Afghanistan not for a brain drain, but because they are terrified of the Taliban, and for proper reasons. They personally witnessed the cruelty, the beheadings, the suicide bombings and the inhumanity of the Taliban first hand. The whole world saw the Afghanistan men trying to hold on to planes to get away from the Taliban and the lines of people headed for the borders. We also saw the videos of the Taliban killing 23 former military after they surrendered with hands up. And the reports of other revenge killings. The throng of people at the airport desperately trying to to get out of the country and those still trying to get out of the country tells another story. Wish you would tell the truth. And the former government had its flaws as all governments do, but at least the people had free elections and everyone, including women had equal rights to education and jobs and even the government. The Taliban won't even allow free elections. They select only their Taliban for the highest positions in the government when there are many different ethnic groups who should have equal representation. At least when America was there, the Afghanistan people had a chance to elect the people of their choosing. Under Taliban rule, that is no longer an option for them, which is another reason many have left and are leaving freely. Again, please at least tell the truth. But it is okay if you don't tell the truth because we get the truth from all of the Afghanistan people who have left. No need for your testimony.

      Okay then stop using stuff that colonisers came up with. If its so easy to criticise western moral codes then it should be equally easy to abandon western inventions as well. Just because they are made by chinese workers or developed by immigrants does not change their sources. For the record western moral codes are not entirely made in west either, they are a result of thousands of years of development in a lot of other places as well, primarily the middle east. So if it is okay to ditch them just because the west advocates for them then it should be equally easy to ditch tech that the west advocates, does not matter if those were made by the chinese workers. Otherwise its just opportunistic behaviour and this kind of moral grandstanding has no place in it.
