Thank you for the video. I am trying to start my own dog walking business so this was perfect timing!
I’m a teen and I’m trying to save up for a Chromebook so I’m going to start dog walking so thank you so much for the facts
Thank you I feel blessed to have started
Thank you.
Thank you so much for your helpful videos ! I am one of the 9-5 ers that cringes whenever I set foot in an office so I would love to do this.
I totally feel you on that! I hope that one day you can avoid the cringe and do it yourself (or at least live vicariously through the videos to get your mind away from the office!) :)
Lots of love, from Turkey
Thanks for another motivating video Jackie (glad the answer is YES as I put my notice in and will start my dog walking business next year 😲)
I have a question about timetabling p/u and d/o times. A one hour dog walk means walking the dogs for the whole hour right? I know it will depend on area (I'm more rural, in Scotland) but even in a city like Toronto is it possible to pick up 6 dogs and drive to walk location ALL in half an hour? Maybe a future video you could make for us? 😉
Good question! Yes, if it's a 1 hour walk then they will be walking for 1 hour, and the P/U and D/O times are in addition to that. So, how long the P/U and D/O time takes depends on where the dogs live and how long it takes to get there. That's part of why it's so important to walk dogs together that live close (ish) to each other. I usually say that the dogs will be out for around 2 hours total. I think that it would be really difficult to grab all of the dogs and go in half an hour, because it'll take a solid 5-10 minutes in each of the houses just to get the dog ready to go out, and then adding driving time it'll add up
@@InRuffCompany thanks so much for your reply Jackie. I see I'll need to factor this in carefully to my schedule planning 👍
I have a question. What is the proper etiquette to charge a client? Do you charge them before? Or invoice them? Have their Credit cards on file? Monthly subscription?
It really depends on what works for you! I usually charge monthly (so I'll invoice at the end of each month), and I almost always prefer an E-Transfer, because often times people prefer that to leaving cash). When I worked for the dog walking company though, they required payment up-front for packages. So it really depends on what works for you
In Ruff Company thank you so much for getting back to me. You are inspiring me to do this. I’ve always wanted to tho! Thank you thank you! I feel like there’s so much more to it than just getting paid. Dogs are happier :)
i am not ready only dogwalking but as well as bearwalker.
Nice video Jackie ! I've been watchi g lots of your videos on dog walking as I'm going to attempt this myself. I'm struggling finding work so I thought since I've grown up with dogs (one dog at a time) I could try dog walking and sitting. I have a question tho. I am only uses to walking one dog so how could I prepare myself to walk more than one at a time? You might say join a company first which I will apply to but chances are I'll get a no. What's it like handling multiple dogs on roads crossing at the lights etc ? You gotta make sure they are all safe and out of the way of cars. Seems impossible to do with multiple dogs
I suggest adding one dog at a time so that you can ease into walking multiple. If you're used to walking one right now, then try adding one more, and so on, and then you will be able to walk many at the same time. It's important not to overwhelm yourself too much as you're getting used to it! When walking multiple dogs at the same time, the hardest part is when you stop (so at cross walks, or if a dog is going to the bathroom). You just have to be more aware, and vocally and physically more present, so that the dogs understand what is needed of them. Holding the leash of dogs who typically like to play when there's a pause helps because once they play it's hard to untangle the leashes!
How do you prove to your client that the dog was indeed walked the amount of time they required?
Some clients like text photo updated of their pup
Followed u on instergram u got a handsome man
You need a license to walk a dog...??
