I agree! I thought I might have had plenty of nostalgia for it, but it turns out the game's mechanics and writing are really well done. It's the kind of game that you can fall in love with again.
While I do love the fact that they are offering a remake for this game, they could have very well just added it to GameCube on the NSO (though they may never make that now that “Switch 2 Electric Boogaloo” is getting announced..). This is a game and a half of course, but I may not end up getting it since I own the original on GameCube and haven’t played it since I beat it so many years ago. 🤷🏻♂️ Oh, also noice commentary on your video! 👍🏼
I agree that Nintendo could have released these games on NSO, they might have some issues with Gamecube titles, as it was the only console to not have its games on the Wii-U digitally. That being said, I think they're trying to determine if people want more Mario RPGs, since they also remade Super Mario RPG.
A new RPG for Mario is fine, the problem for me is that they put all of this time and effort into remaking classic and beloved games when they could be doing so for said "new" RPG's. There is definitely a niche and fanbase for it, and they are most certainly aware of that.
@superkittymikel Yeah, the reason that we're seeing a lot of remakes/low budget games right now is that Nintendo is getting prepped for whatever console is next. Remakes are easier to make and some games genuinely could use a good remake.
Where is my Super Mario 64 Remake then? Where is the Super Mario World Remake? WHERE TF IS MY ZELDA II: ADVENTURE OF LINK REMAKE?!?1! I get that they make remakes to pass the time it takes to get the "new" console ready and games made for that specifically; however I just don't care to be or feel invested in getting consoles anymore man. Call Mii an oldhead or whatever, but the Switch is literally a gift, it's great and works and I can take it literally anywhere I go! (something the "Switch 2" better do too). What saddens me is that the Switch can be improved upon instead of just tossed out for a "newer" console when it inevitably comes out. But these are just the ramblings of an old gamer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@superkittymikel Super Mario 64 got a DS remake and Super Mario World just gets ported over a bunch, it doesn't really need it since it has tight controls and still looks good.
I like it enough to give it my hype. I think the original Paper Mario is really great, but I love what TTYD has to offer and I think it's a game worth sharing.

It's not just the best on the GameCube. It's the best ever. I'm incredibly excited to revisit it in new glory.

TTYD is overrated stop hyping it up the original was way better

I absolutely love them both and could replay both many, many times. But TTYD offers more to do.
