I grew up with this STL-10A at my local VFD in my neighborhood. It was used as a fire siren to alert the firefighters and would sound attack, but it was also used for civil defense, tornado and weather warnings and would sound alert. It brought back memories for me until, in 2009, a Whelen that does the "whoop-whoop" sound had replaced it.
