- This is a recording of Purdue University's old siren system. I believe I recorded it for the statewide drill back around 2008. I thought it was gone forever after TH-cam deleted my old account but thanks to the magic of backups, I found this video on my external hard drive! Unfortunately, all of these sirens have been replaced with newer Federal sirens. The most prominent Thunderbolt that is heard was replaced with at 2001-130 back in 2010-ish. The xT22's were replaced with Eclipse 8's a few years later ( • Federal Signal: Eclips... ). The new system is much more reliable and battery-backed and will last for years to come, but nothing will replace the sound of the old system. Thankfully, the old system will live on via digital video on TH-cam.
Can't beat older sirens they just have that edge and that fierce growl/ambience that modern electronic ones just can't compete with 👌
Thunder Child like most older things they’re just better
Ikr they sound more scary
@@canamx399 couldn't agree more 👏🏻
i like old sirens too
@@canamx399 AGREED
(FYI: I use a wall mounted Rotary Telephone That Came With My House
This is still the greatest ambience video on TH-cam.
SirensAlarmsAndMore check out the t bolt ambiance video even more goose pimpley
Yes, as well as Chicago
And tmi (old)
@@sirenfreek that one and the series of tmi ambiance videos are tied for first on my list
The way the 3t22's wind up is actually kinda spooky
And the 2t22
It sounds so harmonic! Is that a siren in the bell tower or does it just look like it?
No siren in the bell tower. And those aren't even real bells! There are speakers in the bells.
Actually they are real bells, they are the ones from the old Heavilon Hall. There are speakers in there as well to do the nightly music and they say "to assist in campus emergencies". I thought the bells were fake too based upon the myth that they are, but after research I discovered that they're real, and you can actually see the clapper move and strike the bell.
Also love the video about the old system! Now it's all Eclipse 8's and a few 2001s... no more Thunderbolts. The last Thunderbolt in West Laf was just removed in August 2016; the building it was on was demolished. They put a 2001-130 in its place.
EDIT: Just saw your video about the new system after I posted the comment. Oops!
I love the way how 2t22s and 3r22s stand out from other sirens but also another siren that could stand out from the rest is the Sentry 10V2T
yeah it does
Am I the only one who finds this Calming?
CSX Railfan 1000T me
You’re not the only one
Jacob Webber they also alert you of danger saving you as well if there is
No me too
I find it very claming also.
It sounds so good and calming, I love how harmonious the 2T22/3T22 siren sounds.
man that 3T22 that winds up at 0:17 is beautiful. by far one of the healthiest i've ever heard to date. nice video!
That 3t22 sounds nice with the other sirens
I remember the nostalgia when I first watched this video when it was first uploaded many years ago.
This brings back memories...
It's what got us outta bed at 3am, before pagers and phone dispatch apps...in all kinds of weather
Sounds so musical! I love it!
This might honestly be one of my favorite siren ambiences ever!
One of the best siren ambience videos on TH-cam!
I hope some siren collectors got the sirens from the old system saving them from scrap
Federal signal fammily
Two sirens at one view point that's a dream come true
Now, It is all new federal signals. RIP sirens; you were good to Purdue.
Crocodile Playz Eclipses, actually
Oh. All those dumb new ones
You just can't beat the sound of a 3T22
The sound is so satisfying!!
that's why I love dual tones sirens
Fuck all these other siren ambiances, this shit is amazing!! These types of ambiances have that nice lo-fi kick that sounds oddly scary but bearable. I wish Purdue never took down these sirens and just kept these up.
This sound's beautyfull!!!
What a shame that they are all replaced :(.
Sounds much better than the newer system.
Agree
Single tone sirens can't compete with dual tone. Dual is what we all like
obviously
I Was Just There Looking At The FS Eclipse-8s There About 2 Weeks Ago.
I love the sound of the federal 3T22.
Thank you for bringing it back!!!!!!
Doesnt it sound like the mix of sirens make a sorta 4/5 port thunderbolt?
Alright now just need to add the sounds of nuclear missiles launching to add the icing on the cake
What is that mysterious black thing moving on top of the center water tower? Go to 1:23
There's a light flashing on top of the water tower. The camera quality is just so bad that you can't tell :)
@@squiddy7863 A strobe beacon that goes off when the sirens are tested?
The wavy sound from the xT22 is epic. Love it.
Would anyone else like to time travel with me back to the early 2000s and hear this ambience?
Yes
Yes.
Honestly yeah
its beautiful, so musical! beats any new system

This is probably the most best sounding ambiance I ever heard in a long time except okarche Oklahoma siren system
Sounds soothing😉
Interesting to see a video like this.
a black 3T22 and 2T22?
It is the Mystic Horn Choire™... They 𝐻𝒜𝑅𝑀𝒪Ñ𝐼𝒵𝒞𝐸。
It sounds AMAZING! even though the quality isnt the best
I weny on google maps i found the yellow xt22 but the black xt22 when it got replaced by the eclispe 8 it wasnt there
That's sad
Hey bro, perfect fact, when you find the location, just travel back 2007 or 2009 google maps clicking the clock icon, I seen the 2T22 but it's blury. too bad i can't find the thunderbolt and the 2001.
Despite not being an Allertor, this is still very Amazing!
Beautiful
Hello my name is talon
Welch Oklahoma has 2t22 tornado sirens
Would be even more creepy if the moon was just over the horizon and the sirens were sounding wail.whoooooo
10/10 i wish i could use this for my alarm clock lol
I think you need to replace your microphone cuz it's getting a little cracklin have a great day
This video is from 12 years ago. I have new equipment now. Have a great day.
@@squiddy7863 NICE COMEBACK MAN!!!!
Who watched this, is gonna have a good life
volcan Popocatepetl sirens en Puebla y tormenta suprlle
Let me guess the 3T22 is the single tone siren that's high pitched with a stuck damper (not the 2001)
Music to my ears
Wow cool but Is that a siren in the clock tower?
Nice 3 2t22s in a shot!
I bet you the equipment's really old I'm from that year
I heard the thunderbolts then the 2001s then the 3t22 and 2t22
Does one of the 3t22s have a stuck high tone damper?
Great video for ambience
Nostalgia.
You are recording at every siren
cant beat that
freakfire57 it is a church bell in the bell tower
That’s a whole lot of sirens!
Wait all I can hear is 3ts and 2ts
Wow!
calming sounds
Sounds beautiful.
Do you have individual videos of them?
You know, unfortunately I don't and I don't know why. I think I was more interested in system recordings back in college when I lived up there so I was always getting those. I wish I would have recorded each of them since they're now gone. Travis Tilley has one (th-cam.com/video/LTMF8sJZFpM/w-d-xo.html) and some additional ambiance recordings on his channel from years ago.
So harmonised
The 2t22 & 3t22 have the same 10/12 chopper
Yeah we all knew that BUT WAIT 2T22S AND 3T22S HAVE TWO CHOPPERS
CEC Productions dumbass one chopper is 10 port and the other is 12
yes. Why don’t you stay out of peoples business
Sirens And Railroads of Oklahoma lol that deleted person is me, I was pretty stupid back then.
3t22 is 2t22 with dampers
Missed this video ;)
I even hear a t128 siren too
That’s probably just the dying STH-10. No ASC sirens in the county.
@@squiddy7863 ok but I miss the old sirens
0:03 ??
The test was taking a long time to start so I was bored and threw a snowball at a sign.
@@squiddy7863 The throw was so perfectly timing and loud that it sounded like as if someone pressed a switch and all the sirens started to sound.
