It is good that you are experimenting with different materials for the skin. It does really matter if the sound is good and keeps the instrument in tune. I play Sitar and found the bridges sound good with new compound materials. I got two very nice bridges from Barun Roy with a chemical compound and they give a lovely sound.
I got my new sarod from him today and I'm in love !!

His instruments and repairing services r the best, hemen and co has become worst due to fake things and prices, naba da best
Since Hemen died the son does not do anything making and repair wise. I think he outsources repairs and new instruments then puts his nameplate on the instrument.
