    43:09 bacteria,starter bottles never work any better for me than just waiting 4 weeks for it to cycle.
    Some people think that not feeding the Koi fish will stop ammonia, but the fishes metabolism is always creating ammonia and excreting it through the gills

      Agreed. Thanks for watching the video. It's a long one, but I really think that it's helpful to understand what is going on in our ponds that we can't see, or don't think much about.

    Is gravel in a pond a form of bacterial filter?

      Not really, unless the water is passing through it, circulating around it. it does provide surface area for bacteria to grow on, but it sediment builds up in it, that could kill off some of the bacteria.
