I think you probably mean with regards to a new coaster. The whole scenerio reminds me of Knott getting Xcelerator right before Cedar Point got Dragster.

I don't think so. There is so many issues with that park, I don't see a good management investing a dime. The newest coaster is Goliath which opened in 2006. 16 years ago! Some may argue that Ednor opened in 2010 but it's a used coaster from Astroworld in 1999. Eventually, IMO in the next 2-3 years max, La Ronde has to make a decision with Le Monstre. If they closed it without a decent replacement, the park is dead. After La Pitoune, le Cobra, le Super Manège closing without any new attraction except Titan (Zamperla frisbee) and a sh.. like a Larson loop, that park is already arguably the worst of all Six Flags park. Look at all the attraction of the park and tell me... Which one is worthy? Answer: No one. La Ronde is still open only because there's no other park in a 400 km radius period.

Six Flags management contract likely has an investment stipulation, as well as others. I think there is a reason we have never seen a DC branded attraction at the park for instance. Sooner or later, they will be forced to build a new coaster or loose a valuable management contract. (Only park within 400km, direct public transit access to a city of 4.2 million) If Le Monstre becomes unserviceable, there will probably be municipal / provincial investment to replace / refurbish it. It is something of a local icon. Probably the reason it hasn't gone full SNBO. There would be a huge backlash.

I don't think they have any other obligation to fullfill. I may be wrong though. I don't see governments and/or city of Montreal give money for a new coaster... La Pitoune had, IMO a higher signification in Québec and nobody requested some help to save it. I don't see why it would be different with Le Monstre. The fact that you can reach La Ronde with mass transit is not a good thing. It brings full of unrespectful people for nothing. 60$ for a season pass and 0$ to get there. I know a lot of people avoiding the park because of rude people. Most of teenagers don't even eat there and it's probably that same kind of people who pass in waiting lines. There's so many rides to scrap... Condor, spirale, minirail, Galopant, probably Discoronde, eventually Boomerang, i also heard that Splash will probably close sooner than later.... Everyone who says they're getting rid of TTD is out of their minds. It's not even that old, and no matter what you think of the ride itself, it doesn't take up that much space relative to its capacity, and it's iconic. I can easily believe they'll do something like this to extend its life (assuming it's possible from an engineering perspective) than just ripping it out.

As long as Everest continues to be popular, and it is, Disney isn't going to spend the colossal amount it would require just to get a split-second effect working in a ride that is now old. I could see them doing it on the cheap with some kind of projection effect. Many years from now, when Everest is riding worse, I could see them doing a complete teardown and rebuild, and they could market the rebirth and plussing of a classic. But it would take that.
Last time I was at Knott’s I asked an employee why Montezooma’s closed and they confirmed that it is getting an LSM and track work done to reduce the noise that it makes.
I figured it was only a matter of time before they replaced the launch mechanism altogether for something more modern. 44 years is a pretty good run. Like Chris said I'd rather have Montezooma with a different launch system than no Montezooma at all.

There isn't a wing coaster in that area. I know Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens try to add rides that the other park doesn't have, so a wing coaster immediately comes to mind 2. Look at the theme of that area. It's story is like a archeology jungle expedition where they unearthed animal themed temples or something along those lines. So far we've got Tumbili, Reptilian, and Arachnidia. So a monkey, a crocodile, and a tarantula. What naturally seems next in that lineup? An animal that can fly. A perfect theme for a wing coaster
I know you're high on the Dive going to Magic Mountain someday but I can't see it happening. I know San Diego is 3 hours away from it but I just can't see them doing it. A wing coaster seems more likely but then that would be like a bunk X2. If Knotts gets the giga Sfmm is going to need an intamin like Velocicoaster or Pantheon. That's my opinion on the matter in order to compete

Definitely sell. With the Gravity Group retrack work done in the 2020-2021 off-season, and now the full repaint in the 2021-2022 off-season, The Racer as we know it is here to stay. That being said, I do believe there is a possibility that Cedar Fair has had discussions with PTC about engineering the PTC trains to run backwards. Paramount ran one of The Racer tracks with backwards trains, but that was against PTC's recommendations, and PTC has previously stated that they do not support operators running their trains outside of their recommendations. (Cedar Fair does send their PTC trains to PTC in the off seasons for refurbishment) But I do genuinely believe that there is a desire within Kings Island management to bring back a backwards running track on The Racer.
Buy or Sell: Herschend will acquire a Western Independent park like Lagoon, Elitch Gardens, or Silverwood by 2030 and Universal's Epic Universe's star attraction will be another Intamin multi-launch coaster themed to How to Train Your Dragon
I think SF GrAm might get a Wonder Woman in Bucaneer Battle area in 2023 and RMC American Eagle in 2026...for its 50th anniversary. Go cart area is relatively new so I can't see them removing it... I could see them removing Roaring Rapid or Loggers Run/Clipper as they both are very old and they made Hurricane Harbor a second gate and want water park to be stronger...a BM dive coaster or a Aquaman would be great there BTW
Roaring Rapids was closed all of 2021 for major refurbishment, for the the first time since it opened in 1984 as White Water Rampage, the last season of Marriott's Great America. It's an extremely popular ride, and is not going anywhere, especially after 2021. The go karts have been in their current space for around 10 years now, replacing Bugs Bunny Land...and are in an awful spot, right in the middle of Yukon Territory. (They previously were located at the front of the park, in the parking lot...and were displaced by Hurricane Harbor's Riptide Bay expansion, I believe.) I guess it all depends on how profitable the go karts are, if they are retained, or replaced with a better attraction.
Yankee Clipper is getting rethemed this year to Aquaman, so that's not going anywhere. It is possible, though a bit of a stretch, that a new coaster in that area could have its entrance in the new DC area (formerly Yankee Harbor) and get themed to whichever character they haven't used (unless they add something else Wonder Woman and Green Lantern are free if I remember correctly)
Off the top of my head for the UK alone Drayton Manor and Flamingo Land would both benefit from a Raptor. The problem is our larger parks, Towers with its restrictions not only the tree height but not removing trees, BPB a lack of space and the sandy foundations (and the listed status mean there has to be special planning permission to change things) and Thorpe Park with space but height concerns due to the nearby Heathrow and of course noise for nearby houses. Though the latter applies to pretty much every park here.
Buy or sell: Lost Island is super successful and forces cedar fair to invest in WoF and VF within the next few years, possibly adding a new coaster to each. This would also be a great opportunity for cedar fair to start working with vekoma again. I think CF and vekoma would work really well together, since a lot of their parks need them and they are within CF's budget.
The contract for Darien lake ends at the end of the 2020’s. Our local news has the dates on a article or two from 2018 when SF took over. And tbh being a local Six Flags leaving wouldn’t be the worst thing for the park.

Buy or sell: The state of Maine will receive its first inverting coaster by 2030. The state has never had a coaster to go upside down. The park that should do this is Funtown Splashtown USA in Saco. The dry park should be next in line to receive a big new addition based on their track record on alternating between water park and dry park additions, and it's been over 10 years since a dry park addition, and over 20 years since a ground up coaster. Another factor to consider is nearby competition. Palace Playland is only a few miles away and just added 2 new coasters in 2018 (neither one invert), so they should make that investment to keep themselves competitive in the industry. RMC Excalibur anyone?

Buy or Sell: Kings Island gets 4 more coasters, demos The Bat, and begin a major park expansion by 2035. The 4 coasters pretty much already meet the time frame KI has been using (2014, '17, '20) but its really how they're going to do it. (1) They obviously have Vortex's old plot for something (2) As much as I love The Bat, its not very popular (never have waited more than 15 minutes on a regular day in my 18+ years of riding it) and its beginning to feel like its wasting the big plot (and queue) that it sits on and along with the SoB land not used for Banshee there could be something pretty cool put in. (3+4) KI hasn't had a park expansion since 2000's Action Zone upgrade. Starting from the old SoB Entrance, I can see them pushing a major expansion from Banshee, around Adventure Express and FoF, then end the outer loop at Orion. Though a lot of the spare land KI has is swampy garbage, there is 100% enough good land in this area to see an expansion in the coming years. Plus there are maintenance roads that already almost perfectly follow this new pathway I can just smell the risen from the ashes ground-up RMC Son of Beast ripping through the hilly terrain behind Orion or, just because they can, the world's first 500ft T.Rex (I can dream)

Noise is going to be a very very tough sell for the Knotts Giga. It's route would take it significantly closer to homes and CEQA noise standards are really strict. I really want to see it, but 2 firms are going to make good money on this thing (one trying to stop, one working on approval) Source: I'm a noise control/acoustics specialist
I think the PNW has an ok climate for amusement parks. The winters are rainy and cloudy, yes, but June-September in Portland only has 22.9 rainy days. Seattle isn’t too far behind with 27.1 days. That’s less than anywhere on the east coast, and thunderstorms aren’t common here. At the very least, I’d love to see some investment in Wild Waves if they have enough room to expand.
I thought cedar fair has worked with gravity group. Not via a coaster, but specifically the beast and racer retracking at kings island. This might be wrong but I swear they did and they had people talk at coaster stock. That might be very promising for the future tbh

In other words we’ll push human comfort to willing humans comfortable with it

Getting the land and all the permits to build a theme park from scratch could be tricky, even within a decade, especially when Six Flags is already making some money there with Splashtown and you have the Kemah Boardwalk about half an hour down the road. If Grand Texas ever actually expands to the theme park like they were planning and doesn't just stay a waterpark, I'd say that's the safer bet for the greater Houston area.
Buy or sell: not an invention but a restaurant that charges by the calorie for two cents. Call it the calorie Counter. The healthier you eat the cheaper you dine.
Buy or sell: With Six Flags new ownership, all parks will recieve maintenance and up-keep. But smaller/lower tiered parks will receive less investments in rides/entertainment/water park expansions.
Buy or Sell: these new multi launch coasters such as Pantheon and Ice Breaker will become the new "coaster war" rather than shooting for the 500 foot mark because they offer big thrills in a smaller footprint

Everyone who says they're getting rid of TTD is out of their minds. It's not even that old, and no matter what you think of the ride itself, it doesn't take up that much space relative to its capacity, and it's iconic. I can easily believe they'll do something like this to extend its life (assuming it's possible from an engineering perspective) than just ripping it out.

Hmmmm…It needs it. I remember in 2016 it was running really rough and here we are 6 years later. Until 2020 I would have agreed. But you have Cheapek running the show now and choosing to green light things that will bring in revenue. I’m not sure if retracting space mountain will do that and they did cancel/postpone the massive refurbishment of Spaceship Earth. BUT Expedition Everest is currently down for it’s first long term referb.

@@ninjagirl226 Yeah, sell. As long as Everest continues to be popular, and it is, Disney isn't going to spend the colossal amount it would require just to get a split-second effect working in a ride that is now old. I could see them doing it on the cheap with some kind of projection effect.
Many years from now, when Everest is riding worse, I could see them doing a complete teardown and rebuild, and they could market the rebirth and plussing of a classic. But it would take that.

Last time I was at Knott’s I asked an employee why Montezooma’s closed and they confirmed that it is getting an LSM and track work done to reduce the noise that it makes.

I spent a week in Vegas a few weeks ago.....never saw the big apple coaster run one time. It looks like fun (I love coasters that might actually kill you) but because I never saw it running we didn't even walk over to try to ride it.

(This part isn't for the video I just wanted to add my two cents) I feel this makes sense for a couple reasons
1. There isn't a wing coaster in that area. I know Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens try to add rides that the other park doesn't have, so a wing coaster immediately comes to mind
2. Look at the theme of that area. It's story is like a archeology jungle expedition where they unearthed animal themed temples or something along those lines. So far we've got Tumbili, Reptilian, and Arachnidia. So a monkey, a crocodile, and a tarantula. What naturally seems next in that lineup? An animal that can fly. A perfect theme for a wing coaster

I know you're high on the Dive going to Magic Mountain someday but I can't see it happening. I know San Diego is 3 hours away from it but I just can't see them doing it. A wing coaster seems more likely but then that would be like a bunk X2. If Knotts gets the giga Sfmm is going to need an intamin like Velocicoaster or Pantheon. That's my opinion on the matter in order to compete

Sell: Gravity Group just did Racer last year. That's probably what won them the work on The Beast.
Definitely sell. With the Gravity Group retrack work done in the 2020-2021 off-season, and now the full repaint in the 2021-2022 off-season, The Racer as we know it is here to stay.
That being said, I do believe there is a possibility that Cedar Fair has had discussions with PTC about engineering the PTC trains to run backwards.
Paramount ran one of The Racer tracks with backwards trains, but that was against PTC's recommendations, and PTC has previously stated that they do not support operators running their trains outside of their recommendations. (Cedar Fair does send their PTC trains to PTC in the off seasons for refurbishment)
But I do genuinely believe that there is a desire within Kings Island management to bring back a backwards running track on The Racer.

Roaring Rapids was closed all of 2021 for major refurbishment, for the the first time since it opened in 1984 as White Water Rampage, the last season of Marriott's Great America. It's an extremely popular ride, and is not going anywhere, especially after 2021. The go karts have been in their current space for around 10 years now, replacing Bugs Bunny Land...and are in an awful spot, right in the middle of Yukon Territory. (They previously were located at the front of the park, in the parking lot...and were displaced by Hurricane Harbor's Riptide Bay expansion, I believe.) I guess it all depends on how profitable the go karts are, if they are retained, or replaced with a better attraction.
Yankee Clipper is getting rethemed this year to Aquaman, so that's not going anywhere. It is possible, though a bit of a stretch, that a new coaster in that area could have its entrance in the new DC area (formerly Yankee Harbor) and get themed to whichever character they haven't used (unless they add something else Wonder Woman and Green Lantern are free if I remember correctly)

There will be more RMC conversions (or grown-ups) popping up in Europe within the current decade.
Off the top of my head for the UK alone Drayton Manor and Flamingo Land would both benefit from a Raptor. The problem is our larger parks, Towers with its restrictions not only the tree height but not removing trees, BPB a lack of space and the sandy foundations (and the listed status mean there has to be special planning permission to change things) and Thorpe Park with space but height concerns due to the nearby Heathrow and of course noise for nearby houses. Though the latter applies to pretty much every park here.
Just based on the number that's a pretty safe assumption. There's only 3 in all of Europe and 20 in the US
Buy or sell: Lost Island is super successful and forces cedar fair to invest in WoF and VF within the next few years, possibly adding a new coaster to each. This would also be a great opportunity for cedar fair to start working with vekoma again. I think CF and vekoma would work really well together, since a lot of their parks need them and they are within CF's budget.

Buy or sell: The state of Maine will receive its first inverting coaster by 2030. The state has never had a coaster to go upside down. The park that should do this is Funtown Splashtown USA in Saco. The dry park should be next in line to receive a big new addition based on their track record on alternating between water park and dry park additions, and it's been over 10 years since a dry park addition, and over 20 years since a ground up coaster. Another factor to consider is nearby competition. Palace Playland is only a few miles away and just added 2 new coasters in 2018 (neither one invert), so they should make that investment to keep themselves competitive in the industry. RMC Excalibur anyone?

The 4 coasters pretty much already meet the time frame KI has been using (2014, '17, '20) but its really how they're going to do it.
(1) They obviously have Vortex's old plot for something
(2) As much as I love The Bat, its not very popular (never have waited more than 15 minutes on a regular day in my 18+ years of riding it) and its beginning to feel like its wasting the big plot (and queue) that it sits on and along with the SoB land not used for Banshee there could be something pretty cool put in.
(3+4) KI hasn't had a park expansion since 2000's Action Zone upgrade. Starting from the old SoB Entrance, I can see them pushing a major expansion from Banshee, around Adventure Express and FoF, then end the outer loop at Orion. Though a lot of the spare land KI has is swampy garbage, there is 100% enough good land in this area to see an expansion in the coming years. Plus there are maintenance roads that already almost perfectly follow this new pathway
I can just smell the risen from the ashes ground-up RMC Son of Beast ripping through the hilly terrain behind Orion or, just because they can, the world's first 500ft T.Rex (I can dream)

I think the PNW has an ok climate for amusement parks. The winters are rainy and cloudy, yes, but June-September in Portland only has 22.9 rainy days. Seattle isn’t too far behind with 27.1 days. That’s less than anywhere on the east coast, and thunderstorms aren’t common here. At the very least, I’d love to see some investment in Wild Waves if they have enough room to expand.

Getting the land and all the permits to build a theme park from scratch could be tricky, even within a decade, especially when Six Flags is already making some money there with Splashtown and you have the Kemah Boardwalk about half an hour down the road. If Grand Texas ever actually expands to the theme park like they were planning and doesn't just stay a waterpark, I'd say that's the safer bet for the greater Houston area.
