Loved the video, thanks for posting it. Great looking truck. I was searching for someone running this exact tire combo on a late model Ram dually. I really wanted to see the exact details. You provided here. Thanks Again. I ordered a set of 255/80R17 AT3Ws for my Ram Dually today.
I Had the AT3s on my 2017 Ram 3500 SRW and they were hands down the best Snow/Ice tire i've had. I now have a Ram Dually and was planning on putting AT3s on that when ready. The main reason I bought this tire is handling on snow and Ice, I like the look of the 255s
Thanks for the video about the tires. Really like the silver color. Always wanted a dually truck for the looks and capabilities, but I like wide tires. Starting to wonder if a srw might be a better path for really wide tires.
I am old school and would rather have it like you did and only add a little height and be able to get in the truck easy and keep the gas mileage down but I would add the spacer of 1/2" to have room between tires for the snow to flow.
Do you know of a hubcentric 1/2” spacer? And I fell you! I used to always level trucks but then you looked so dump towing with so much rear squat. You need that oem rake.
Perfect video. I just got the exact same falken 255, but seeing how close it is, i am second guessing my choice and wonder about returning them. I always drive fully loaded, and in right terrain. Treated on rocks, loaded, and it didn't touch but it was about 2mm of space. So how has it been since your video , ok?
I have a 2018 3500 dually. I haul a 3800 lb truck camper that's before it's loaded up. Have you thrown that kind of weight in the back of yours yet and see if they touch each other on the back?
So far so good! I did lose space between them but it’s more than enough to be ok. Only time will tell though if I load say 5,000lbs in the bed or a really heavy trailer. If they squish to close, you can get spacers up to 1/2” that’ll work and still use the oem stud length.
I know right!?? With the 6-7 oil changes I saw on carfax, tires where noted to be rotated every time. Maybe they never towed? Although the gauge did say around 318 hours of tow time. Maybe all highway or side streets? Idk. But they were originally
That’s incredible! I have 36k on mine, and it is time - though I have the bed camper at 4400lbs. Appreciate the video, I’ll be going with the exact same setup!
@@MilanPalushaj-uh3df still debating what to get! I know a gooseneck is better but they are so expensive when you get one that can tow a lot. A tow behind can haul so much for cheap.
I put those on mine to there 1 inch smaller than the nitto and toyo after the first rotation they were trash got my money back nittos and toyo last way longer
Figures crossed they last! Oem got 60k, can’t see why others couldn’t too if you take care of them. Granted being a M/S tire they might be softer on summer heat.
I have the same wheels on my dually. I didn't want any weights put back on because they're ugly and damage the powder coat so I used balancing beads instead, they work awesome. Also you should delete your truck and you'll get way better mileage and your oil will stay way cleaner.
I saw those. I thought about them but a guy who owned them talked about the noise down low and scared me away. I’m sure my paints gone now underneath them. I might delete. Haven’t heard of more MPG but everything else seems good. Issue right now is used ECU’s that are like $2500-$10,000 without knowing if they are good or not. I really wish someone would break the ECU already!
@@neckofthewoods24 I use the counteract beads and never had a problem or noise at lower speed. Mines a 2020 and I deleted it. I got the tune from dirty diesel customs in kelowna BC.
@@neckofthewoods24 I have 2023 Ram 3500 DRW Limited HO 6.7 LWB with 4.1 gear. I get around 15.7 mpg avg for empty + carrying some weight time to time. I wanted 3.73 gear but 4.1 was what was available. What gear do you have on your truck. I will probably do exact same sizing when it is time.
80 psi. You dont even know what you are doing. That is for max load rating. If you are hauling heavy, 5th wheel , bed ball. Slide in camper etc. There is no reason to run 80 if you are diving empty. Look up setting tire pressure using chalk method

255/85/17 dually compatible tire from Mickey the Baja boss and its a 35

100% ok. And if you need to get back to OEM spacing or very close to it, a 1/2” spacer will work with enough threads on the lugs to throw on

I have not. Most was like 12,000lbs towing without issue but the tongue weight I bet under 1500.
When you change your rear fuel filter to the Cat filter. Will you lose the ability to heat your fuel in the winter before starting?
I don’t think that’s a thing. We heat our air in the winter at the manifold but not the fuel. The DEF fluid I think has a heater though.
any issues with your new tries so far ? have you towed heavy ? any rubbing ? any changes in MPG'S ?
No issues at all towing but only 6-7k on them. Highest MPG I’ve seen is 17.3 and before was 19.4.
@@neckofthewoods24 is your dually a HO or regular output ?
@@neckofthewoods24 I have an HO with Aisin . I know HO ‘s get less mpg

Did the rear tires kick out past fender ? You didn’t really show a good rear view of the new tire set up
Nope not at all. Only 10mm wider on each side and it wasn’t enough to go past. The oem is pretty in board.
How is towing and the spacing on the rear? Does the wider tires cause any problems?

Do you need to recalibrate the speedometer?
No I have no. It’ll be slightly off but not much. % goes up the faster you go so 65mph isn’t crazy. Not like I’m doing 140.

The noise gets worse as you put miles on the off road tires.
It’s crazy how quiet the cab is!! I hear my rear end so much with the windows down! But up it’s really closed off. So we’ll see on the tires.
