    My 22 ram 3500 just went over 94,000 miles on this trip from AL to CA. It gets used for hotshot. I was grossing right around 35k# on this trip and it held up pretty good.
    I’ve pretty much worn out my second set of tires on it and I appreciate the info you gave. I got northstar wheels and Toyo tires for it tonight. I’m going drives all the way around because these toyos are rated to be put in any position.. most DOT officers don’t even notice stuff like drive or steer tires on a pickup. I’ve had 6 lvl 1 inspections this year with no issues… they were all worth every minute of time too! My insurance went down $1k a month because of it!

      @@IManOPERATOR have you had an issue with it grabbing the road grooves? I drove mine from east tx to California and on my way back it seemed to start randomly swerving really bad. It would be fine for a long time and then just start swerving for a minute, then right back to straight with no issues. It drove perfectly out there so it really freaked me out when it started acting weird. And it seemed to do better on not so good roads after it started acting weird.. the only thing the shop could think of is that maybe I should upgrade my steering stabilizer (I’ve got a new one in the mail)

    • @IManOPERATOR
      @IManOPERATOR  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jonalvarez4790 the tires do track a lot on the concrete grinds or being in any ruts in the road especially when they are new. Get a bit of tire squirm in the beginning.
      After they’ve broke in for me they ride much better.

    • @MonsterTruckingCo.
      @MonsterTruckingCo. ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jonalvarez4790wandering is normal with skinny tires. Makes it alittle worse now that the tires are drastically harder than traditional tires an don’t conform to ruts and bumps like a softer tire will somewhat do.

    • @jonalvarez4790
      @jonalvarez4790 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MonsterTruckingCo. that’s true. And I did notice a slight difference when I started running the steers at 75 and drives at 85psi. They’ve got over 30k miles on them now and they’re holding strong with daily towing. I really think 100-150k miles is definitely possible at this point. And I think they ride a little smoother than the factory sized Michelins I had on it before (aside from the wandering)

    You are correct, you cannot run 2 aluminum dual wheels on the stock configuration. You can run dual aluminum wheels if you lengthen your wheel studs. As they come from factory, wheels studs are too short for dual aluminums. On the cab chassis trucks from Ram, you can get a 6 aluminum wheels set, and I'm assuming they include longer studs from the factory. I'm really digging the pickup 3500, but it's such a hard choice because I really want wide track steering. looking at the Ram 4500 cab and chassis as well as the F450 before I place a new order.

    • @IManOPERATOR
      @IManOPERATOR  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can install tpms, my luck tho they always fail so I didn’t even bother with it, but you can get oem ones installed just get them for the 5500 truck since they install differently from the 17” wheels, Speedo is the same no change since it’s the same overall size as oem with the tire and wheel package unless of course you want to get larger tires

    Love the new rims and tires. I work at a tire shop. Never knew before I started the differences between the 16.5's 17.5's 18.5's and 19.5's until I actually looked at them. The "half" type rims and tires have a different bead on the rims compared to the standard size rims. However do not put a standard size tire on a "half" style rim

    • @IManOPERATOR

    19.5 are a nice addition but pay attention to your front end steering components wearing out faster, the tire rim combo is a bit heavier than your 17" stock combo. That was my only negative about this combo from my personal experience.

    • @IManOPERATOR
      @IManOPERATOR  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Stayed the same size as the ram 4500-5500 tires and wheels for the front end are nearly with in 10lbs of each other. People putting 35s on their trucks do more damage then these ever will if anything. This was something i definitely looked into the before doing this. I definitely didn’t want to add any more rotational mass to the truck or unsprung weight to it. A lot of people that do this do 8 to 10 lug adapter pushing the wheel further from the bearings causing more stress and also run 265-275 tires instead of the 225 oem size to “look cool” adding the the extra mass and rolling resistance. Definitely don’t want to mess with the gear ratio of the truck and make sure I don’t stress it out anymore then I already do with the loads she Hauls. I completely understand where you’re coming from. I’ve seen the same faults happen before but it’s from everyone running oversized everything.
