    Would help if you showed the difference in breakers so customers don't make 20 trips to find the right ones...

  • @ianferno

    Another difference: QO breakers are about 0.75" thick (QO double breaker is about 1.5" thick). Homeline breakers are 1" thick (Homeline double breaker is 2" thick).

      So simple, yet why it take me 15 minutes to find that out? many thanks.

    I have some photos of the burned load center but I cant upload here.

    The qo also costs a ridiculous amount more (when factoring in breakers) just to display an orange sticker when the breaker trips....

    I can't find an electrician who installed Square D QO products in my area.

    We have a 4 months old Square D QO Load Center and I saw some burned marks and melted components inside. When the electrician inspected it he said it could be from a lightning strike.The home builder is not covering its warranty because the electrician’s assessment he said is caused by mother nature so they wont cover the warranty. Is it possible that these outdoor weather proof electrical panel casing will be hit by a lightning and melt the components inside and there is no burn marks outside?

      That sounds like a line surge on the utility line coming into the panel, or a lighting strike on the utility line causing a surge which then traveled into the panel.

    What's the physical differences between the tandem and non-tandem breaker boxes? What is physically stopping someone from just hooking in a tandem breaker to a non tandem spot aside from a sticker saying "don't do it".
    I see homedepot has a qo 24/24 and a qo24/48 box, what's the difference between the 2 aside from that sticker??

    • @dalyclose7815
      @dalyclose7815 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Size. Non tandem slots are 3/4", while tandem are 1"

    • @CurtWelch
      @CurtWelch 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know the precise design of square D breakers, but generally, tandem breakers have a different case design which prevents them from fitting into the non-tandem panels. The breaker positions that allow tandem breakers have an extra slot in the plug-on blade that allows the tandem breakers to slide on. the panel that allows the tandems are designed and certified to work correctly with the extra number of breakers and all the heat they can generate. The non-tandem panels aren't designed or certified to work with the higher density tandems.
      Some panels (from some manufacturers -- I'm not sure above square D) will allow only some slots to be tandem and some not. So you might see something like a 12/18 panel that allows only 6 of the 12 slots to be tandem (normally the bottom 6 I believe).
      Homeline breakers are 1" wide, QO are 3/4", and both offer tandem versions (width has nothing to do with it).

    Do any other of the panels at Home Depot or Lowe's come with copper buss bars?

    • @Sovereign_Citizen_LEO
      @Sovereign_Citizen_LEO ปีที่แล้ว

      All QO panels come with tinned copper Bus Bars (and 3/4" format Breaker size). All Homeline Panels are tinned Aluminum or Aluminum (and a 1" format breaker size). That is the way I understand it based on my research.

    What is the name of the black plastic piece that is mounted inside the gray metal box ( it has the metal connections for the CB)? Can I buy just that piece? Mine is QO2-4L70RB. I can't find it anywhere. HD, Lowe's and more here in Texas sell only the box with the piece I want.

    What about how to differentiate panels that come WITH COVERS, vs. those that don't. This is an insane frustration and at this point I'm considering NOT BUYING a Square D Panel, and going with the far better Price to Performance - Cost/ Benefit analysis Siemens, GE, Leviton, or basically any other brand.

    Does square d make any 1/2" width breaker? I can use a less expensive duplex breaker if I can change one 3/4" breaker. On a tight budget!
