This game has decidedly set my expectations of Gilgamesh representation way too high. The incorporation of "Let the Battles Begin" into the phase transition is too fucking good, and I demand all future versions of BotBB include a subtle motif from the host game's battle theme.
It's so damn good, I can't stop listening to it. Also the stabs at 0:08, even though they go with the original version of the song, are also technically from "Let the Battles Begin" too and that is just masterclass work.
BotBB is one of those FF tracks where, no matter how many times they remix it and rearrange it, every single one gives me goosebumps. I hope Square never lets you go, Greg.

I legit flipped out when this song started playing during this fight. It’s easily one of my favorite tracks of FF in general. So the fact it got a remade makes me so happy. 100 / 10 best song in the game.
The melody of the song was used in his cutscenes from the start of the game, so obviously it was going to be in his battles as well. There's several versions of it in the game too, not just this one.

I was under leveled and on the hardest difficulty when I fought him. Legit one of the fun fights of the game. I had 14 HP left when I delivered the final blow 🤣 I was about to yell if I lost after fighting for almost 20 mins.
Just took him on last night. Long battle but first tried. The trials were more tricky but they helped set up my items and inventory to take the fight on. It wasnt easy
For real, though, that entire scene really sold Gilgamesh as the Bladesman of Legend. The dude ended up with a weapon that dealt 1 per hit, and STILL managed to make it deadly by hitting *TWO THOUSAND TIMES* per second. He's a fucking monster.
Never fought a boss that took ages to defeat but throughout never once got frustrated, loved it and nodded my head to the epic remastered remix of the FF V version of the battle theme, this game is truly a master piece
nah, he has the power to do so at will, in FFXIV he dragged himself and a few others across the interdimensional rift and then left to who knows where due to settle a score with someone, before that happened he did moonlighted as yojimbo for a pair of battles before revealing it was him!

I recently played New Threat 2.0 (an overhaul mod for OG FF7) and lost my shit when Gilgamesh appeared as the final boss in the special battle in the Gold Saucer Arena. Hes constantly taunting you as expected but near the end he turns massive, turns the party into frogs, then turns himself into a giant frog and says "er... yeah, I meant to do that! Have at thee, fellow amphibians!" God damn that mod was so fun
I believe the main reason for this is that Nomura has been forced to give the Disney worlds and characters a lot more space than before because the series is becoming bigger, and Disney wants to play a bigger part (I mean, they pretty much forced Square Enix to copy-paste the storylines of Frozen and Tangled in the third game), so the Final Fantasy characters have been reduced to mere side-characters (although I am glad we saw then in Re:Mind). Square has already said that Kingdom Hearts IV will be more "Square Enix-based," so here's hoping Gilgames shows up as well.
and the sad part is only FF7 will every have a remake since its a cashcow by itself, second being FFX if it wasn't for how they murdered X with X-2 and that X3 fanfic of a storyline

The best fight in the game this far. I have yet to finish it, but I’m glad I did this fight before I did. He bested me once, and I’m glad he did. It gave me the opportunity to listen to this amazing track longer
If fighting Cactuars taught me anything... Is that you NEVER underestimate an opponent who can only do 1 damage a hit... If they hit you 1000+ times with rapid speed.

The best fight in the game this far. I have yet to finish it, but I’m glad I did this fight before I did. He bested me once, and I’m glad he did. It gave me the opportunity to listen to this amazing track longer

The game actually doesn’t let you, even if you restart the chapter. You would have to backup a save or delete all your data

Greg is forever the best optional encounter in the entire Final Fantasy Universe.
Fun fact, Gilgamesh is a combination of Eastern and Western heroic folklore characters. So if anything he does, or says, or has seems familiar that's why.
Yeah, the name itself belongs to the one who is considered possibly the first hero in history (a hero from a myth of ancient Babylonia).
i love how underneath the normal greg boss theme you can hear the let the battles begin theme. and it meshes perfectly.
when i got to this fight today. i had to pause the game a soak in the track not realizing it was going to continuously evolver with the fight.
