Yes. Mine too. Bought them a while back and now they are like that, or gel and cottage sheesh like, I sprayed a little water and mixed. Yuk. But I painted a little with it was ok. But scared to try a whole projects. I have almost all colours. So much money for quality that is not there for long term. Pitty. Thank you for putting it out there. I have seen many comments about these paints. 🙏

Thanks for the video. My take on the paints is DO NOT BUY THEM, unless they are the only paints you have and you are going to use them DAILY. They are daily use paint to use them all up before they go bad. I like you have had other paints for years some even decades and they have not gone bad. They messed up when they created this paint, few crafters use up a product with in a year. My paints didn't last a year. I used some glycerin in my paints it helped some but they are still cottage cheese.

I had one Folk Art paint that got cottage cheesy like that--but it sat unused in a closet for about 15 years! I am glad I didn't buy these.(The funny thing about the Folk Art paint is the color was named "buttercream" so I always imagined I was spreading butter on my page as I used it. Lol.)

Wow, that is really something to see. You are being a lot calmer about than I would be, I've priced these! I wouldn't use to much water. There is a ratio for water to acrylics, I think it is two or three parts paint to one part water, because you lose opacity and the binders may not work right. It looks like the binders are messing up. I would try putting a scoop of the paint in a separate air tight container and adding some folkart flow medium to it, stir it together with the top of your paint brush, not the bristles, let it set, covered, for a few minutes and check it. If it looks like it is helping, just add small amounts to get the right consistency. Folkart has a flow medium that you can use with their paints to do One Stroke technique on paper. It's the "clear filler" in acrylic paint. It might help. These paints look like a lower grade full or heavy body acrylic paints to me. I don't have any, so can't be certain. Maybe do some research on heavy body paints, you might find a solution that you could use. Also, if these paints are this delicate, I would be careful with contamination from other products when doing mixed media. I'm really bad about doing this, lol. Bad on Ranger for not standing behind their products, or at least trying to come up with some solutions to help. It looks like a lot of people are having this problem. Hope you can find a solution, Kelly. Take care :)

I have had delta ceramcoat for over 20 years and maybe 1 or 2 got cheesy. Never had a problem with Americana, but have not had them for as long!

I have a bunch myself. And they are dried too. Some b4 usubg once! One i bought from michaels was like that from the start and when i tried to return, Michaels manager was rude. Refused ti return saying "I doubt your story as we have many artists who buy here & never complain." And yes, i love Ranger products but find they dont stand by their products at all so i stopped buying ranger. Out of 28 distress oxide pads, the 3 pastel shades dried up after 2 uses. Alk Ranger would do was SELL me reinkers for ea @ $18 total plus s/h.

Yes. I also just added water and let it sit over night and then stirred and it helped some of them. But overall they suck

I wonder if a humidifier in that room would help? I don't understand why so many have done that. Really strange. You know you might try asking Lindsey, "The Frugal Crafter" if she would have any suggestions. She is so knowledgable about paint. Just a suggestion. It boggles my mind. Good luck. Hope you find a solution. Glycerin maybe? TFS

I have a bunch of others that didn’t turn cottage cheese like. I have tons of paint in my art room. I have never had this problem before. I’m lost.

would love to know how that thick paint, like the black, did it dry? does it crumble?

I love love these paints but they are frustrating. Wish they would repackage them or reformulate them for the price they charge. The fluffy ones are still useable with a ranger foam applicator.

Hey Kelly have you tried Rubbing (Isopropyl) alcohol? I use it to clean up dried acrylic paint. It's a solvent so it could dissolve the partly dried cottage cheese paint you have. I have no idea what the end result would be, but if you're already at the point where you're going to throw them out, it might be worth a try? If you do try this, please let me know how it turns out.

Oooh I will try that today before I throw them out. I hope it works!!! So much wasted!!!!!!!

I have a large number of these paints. When I first opened them, they smelled so bad I could not use them. I complained to the company and they told me that the paints did NOT smell. After a couple months, I opened them again. By now they had turned into "cottage cheese" and smelled even worse. I think you got the "good" batch of paint! LOL

I have 20 of these and have always made sure the lids are on very tight. Mine have done the same thing as yours. I don’t think they can be used but hate to throw them all away. Very sad.

I don't think anything can save these paints, but for future reference: Adding tap water to paints is a recipe for mold and fungus. Distilled water is better. I wonder what alcohol would do.

I don’t know. Since they are ruined I will try alcohol and see. So many people suggested water to bring it back

I would be so disappointed. Not just the money you spent but not having the beautiful paint to use.
Could you try a drop of mineral oil to maybe bring them back? The thing is who wants to use them in a project if they're going to smell like sour milk?
Very disappointing as a company, to me.
