I also transferred all mine into squeeze bottles and I find I use them more often now. I had not thought of adding airbrush medium to them, thank you for that suggestion!
Glad you managed to save some of your colours. I had the original 12 colours back in 2015 barely used them and they all either dried out like rubber or went to that jelly. I tried everything even whisking and could not revive them so in the bin they went. A shame they didn’t switch to bottles straight up.
I discovered a couple of weeks ago that mine were drying out too. This is a timely video solution. Thanks for these ideas. I did not have good luck with squishing the reconstituted paints tho. I even tried a whisk to smooth them out.
Yes, there's a point where it's just too late. Now I have some that are a tiny bit clumpy even when squeezed out but they still work fine. So try before tossing. Glad it was helpful!
Oh thank you! Great idea. I have many of these paint pots. I’ve added water all along so they are still ok but starting to get thick. I will be ordering these bottles to do this.
So that was probably the most tedious project I’ve done in awhile lol. Glad I did it though. Out of the 20 pots I own only 2 were still pourable, and they aren’t that old. Luckily I didn’t have to toss any so I’m happy about that.
I’m glad to see others have problems with dylusions paint and it’s not just me. Even jars that are still sealed aren’t usable they are like stodgy porridge. To buy stuff from amazon is so expensive here in NZ I bought a small pot of Tim holtz ephemera around $7.99 and they charged me $54 for postage, enquiries were ignored. I saved hard to buy the dylusions and I’m very p....d off.
That is a shame! The postage may be related to Covid. It was going to cost me $150 to send a very small art piece to So Africa. Needless to say the art will wait to be sent. My Dylusions all hardened no matter how careful I was keeping the lid on. Total drag.. I've heard so many people who are angry are their jars. Bummer!
Just transfered 26 paint jars to the bottles you recommended, i used a label maker fir colors and they worked great. Using up the little bit in jar on pages and going to recycle the jars into something.
OMG. I just did the same thing with the EXACT same bottles with my Dylusions paint. The only difference is that I have been adding Refresh and water about every two to three weeks since I live in the desert. I would have never thought of the Airbrush Medium. I did, however, use some Golden Polymer Medium as that’s the base they use for acrylics on a couple that had gotten a bit funky. It just wowed me when I saw this. I never thought to get in touch with you about it. Maybe I should if I know we’re using the same products lol. Glad you shared this with everyone. 💚
When whatching reviews etc. to choose which paint I was going to use, I saw a lot of people struggling with dried out paint in this bottles. Probably we don't have time enough to finish quicklier LOL. I like her paint a lot and I'm very happy they're in the bottles now. Still see a lot of jars in stock here in the Netherlands.
Yes, I think so. Dyan probably never had a problem because it's what she does, and what she uses all the time! I do still love her paints, the colors are just fabulous.
So glad I watched this! Thank you! I had the whole collection of paint (in jars) waiting in my Amazon cart. I was gifted with 12 of the new wee bottles for my bday in July & I ADORE the colours! (They are so pretty in my black Dylusions journal) I'm just going to add to the set bit by bit. Yours is the 3rd vid I've watched concerning probs with the jars. It's a shame cuz they're cheaper now. But I don't paint every day, I am better off with wee bottles. I did buy the Ranger craft mat (love!) so cleaning up is easier. Enjoying the inspiration you give 💗 Blessings, my dear xo
Wow.. thank you for this video hun..i have put the flip cap bottles in my amazon basket ready to purchase😁.. i love your whole set up you have with colour coordination of inks n paints, makes it so much easier to grab stuff alot qwicker...thank you for shareing your video..hope you had a lovely xmas (as well as can be with the pandemic) & i hope you have a sparkly magickal new year also...🌻😁
You are so welcome! This set up does make everything easier. It was a lot neater when it was jars because that's what the dividers were custom made for. So I may need to tweak it so things stop falling over. But it's not that important right now. lol I hope you had a fabulous Christmas too. Happy New Year!
An idea - Is there a way to add steel ball in each of the bottle to mix the paint inside? I was wondering that if that might help in keeping the paint from settling down. Instead of paint thinner, may be gel medium helps to activate the dried up paint? Also, labeling on the lid of the flip top.
If the balls are small enough I could add one. I noticed her new paints in the bottles all have mixing balls in them. I thought it was just going to be the cocktail paints because they have a different formula, but her others do as well!
Thanks for sharing! I only own 4 jars, and (thankfully) my London Blue is still okay. I couldn't understand why the Black Marble was acting weird. All this time, I thought it was me!
Wouldn't covering the pots, before putting on the lid, with a piece of saran wrap prevent it from drying out? I do it with my golden mediums, which also have wide openings, and it seems to work well.
I had done this as well some time ago. I had to add clear packing tape over the labels to get them to stay. So far they are ok. FYI most of the dark colors have been discontinued by Ranger.
All this time,I’ve been mixing airbrush medium and my Dylusions on my palette paper each time. Well, duh..., do this chore instead. “Clevah gurl” as,we say in Maine. “Wicked Smaht” too. Thanks, Denise.
I knew it’d be a purple. 😉 thanks for being okay with me teasing you about your purple feeings. 😜💜💜 I’m loving my paints in the bottles, didn’t purchase the tubs because they dried out quick.
Good tips here. Do you think adding water or airbrush medium will affect the opacity? Only one way to find out I guess🤣 I've had that problem with the stickers too. Ended up just writing directly onto the bottle with a marker.
They made new jars, that are supposed to stop this from happening. Hope those aren't the new jars? Because then they didn't work? I have some Making Memories paint, acid free. They are over 12 years old. They just need a little shake and they still work great! Wish they would make them again!
They come in little bottles now. You use to get 2 oz jars, now you get 1 oz bottles and they have a little mixing ball inside. I have some and I think they will be much better. Fingers crossed.
@@DeniseLush Apparently the older jars had a paper liner, which made them to dry out faster. I watched a video, forgot which one. That they were adding Styrofoam liners in the lids. That was supposed to help stop them from drying out.

The air problem is terrible in the desert where I live. Not only the jars dried. I had to add matte medium to extend life on the paper. Color coverage is not as good as when they are fresh. Can anyone tell me how long this paint has been around.? I heard her comment at one of tututorials. A bit miffed at the complaints.
