Thank you for including the box and packaging as part of the review. I enjoy that aspect as part of the overall experience. I like the bold lettering imprint and contrast on these pencils. 🙂

If it were a bit less glossy, one might mistake it for a Staedtler norica. Great review of another pencil I've never seen.

Hi MAMO - there is a similarity to the Norica...maybe that was the look they were going for. Thanks!

Hi Kevin, when you visited Paris, didn't you see any Bic Gilbert pencils? It was our office pencil about 15 years ago, here in Holland. Today they are made in the PRC, but then they were still marked Bic Conte Gilbert.

Interesting, never heard of those. Are they made of real wood?

      @@DinnerForkTongue yes, indeed!

Hi oomen - I have a hard time finding the Bic Gilbert pencils, which are round wood pencils, as I recall. I also think they are red. I often see the hexagonal green Bic Criterium pencils and the awful Bic Evolution pencils made out of synthetic wood. The next time I'm in Paris I plan on going to a couple of other shops and I will find some. I guess I can also order them online, but it's always fun to look around in the stationery shops and art supply shops! thanks!

Need to see a review about the Pilot Better Retractable, such a wonderful pen.

There will be a review of the Pilot Better Ballpoint (stick version) in a couple of weeks. Thanks!

Like the Mengcheng Jinyuanda, this is another Chinese pencil with good value in general, that doesn't market itself specifically to the West. A fellow commenter once said the Southeast Asian countries like Thailand generally only use these soft pencils (with HB/#2 being so rare as to be specialized stationery), so I wager this would be popular over there.
In the recording this is very audibly scratchy, so I figure it really has just enough feedback to feel you're writing or drawing with it without hanging on to the paper. The Goldilocks level of friction for me.
I have no idea how sharp the Musgraves are. How is this corner sharpness compared to a Bic Cristal?
Finally, the initial point may have seemed blunt but the wide trace it left behind works really well with your large letter handwriting, Kevin.

Hi DFT - yes, this pencil really isn't designed for the western markets. The Musgrave hex pencils have corners as sharp as, or perhaps slightly sharper than the Bic Cristal. For people who tend to write large like myself, we are often finding ourselves with a more blunt point because we tend to generally use more pressure. Live large and write large, I say!! LOL! Thanks so much!

Thanks, Josh. I'll have to see if I have a Lumograph around to review.
